You should make the throwaway knife have an exterior that will not pick up finger prints so that if a person needs to defend themself they can toss the knife and not need to worry about possibly having their fingerprints on it
Never spent more than $40 bucks for a knife. Like the last comment, I own a lightning. Paid 20 in Florida, here in Texas, you can get one between 25 and 45 bucks. Got it for cool factor. Wouldn't pay 200 EVER unless someone hand made it and it was truly worth having. Own something a lot like yours for self defense...30 bucks.
I paid $500 for your knife, and it’s obviously effective. There’s no way you can argue it’s $400 more effective than a production blade, though. I bought your knife because it was cool; that’s just how the market works. Haha
I own a Microtech OTF...I purchased it when they were USA made and not imported from overseas. People will pay for what they want...thats why I like making my own blades now.
Oh you met Bastien! I have one of his Makos. Nasty little thing. Seems like a really nice guy. Learned a lot from his videos. I like that you mentioned him. He does do a little of taticool in his designs but they’re elegant and still work. Doesn’t go overboard.

I gotta admit I probably would have fallen into the microtech marketing attraction if there was any dealers for them in my state. And as I am about to go to Texas for work where there are many dealers i appreciate this video reminding me why I don't need an overpriced basically collectors item
the answer is hell nah. thank you for pointing this out, I was considering buying a Microtech, but what you said is true, I'd rather buy another CANK honestly because I know that the fixed blade CANK will get the job done and not slice my hand open like an OTF would. Thank you from saving me time and money on something I don't need. This is a prime example of why I support Bone Tactical, because its the truth. What you see is what you get, no games , no gimmicks.
I can’t tell you how many times shit like dimes, pennies, and such got stuck in the opening of my otf and prevented it from opening. I carry 2 for that reason the otf to open shit with and use as a tool and a zero tolerance assisted open for defensive purposes. Been looking in to getting a fixed blade will check your stuff out for sure.
Yeah, Completely agree. I'm a big fan of the CRKT M16/M21 series for folders, but I can't say they are better then a Honey badger which is 1/2 the price & has the same level of quality.
Those are some of the worst knives I’ve ever seen in my life. I hope that you get a chance to experience some really high-quality blades sometime sir and thank you for your feedback
I've been using machetes and knives since I was 9 and am still collecting all kinds of knives. Personally Ontario knives, KA BAR, cold steel are good brands, but I like Ontario. You can just beat them and they are still serviceable.
Great video from Mr.Bone!!! I agree price doesn't reflect quality and effectiveness in the knife industry always. I spent $130 on a knife and I've had four or five defects in a year, I wont give the company's name but let's just say it's more then two numbers. The EDC Throwaway is a great knife for the price for which I've used mine almost everyday and I just sharpen it as needed and it continues to do its job. I purchased the Serialized Bone Opener and it fits in the hand great!! Great job on the video and I would like the see you review the friction folder that you bought at blade show. Stay safe and keep up the good work Mr.Bone.
Investment sales on micro tech otf is absolutely a thing. I do carry a HK, benchmade, otf but for utility. I have a go to work knife on my support side. Drastically cheaper and drastically more effective. I only carry fixed blades on my kit and plates. Emerson style wave folders are the only deploy method I train with and trust when life is on the line. Bad day if I have to use an OTF for a fight. I mean also I carry 9mm daily so that’s kinda my first choice.
Couldnt agree with you more. Very few people who spend $200.00 on a knife actually use it on a daily basis. The fit and finish on expensive knives is better but it doesn't justify the cost. You could buy a quality firearm for what Microtech is asking for most of their knives.Knives in the 50.00 to 100.00 dollar range will perform just as good if not better. I'll pass on the pocket jewelry because I actually use my knives.
one more thing, I bet a lot of people would buy an o.d. green CANK!. what do you think? I'd rather buy that than a microtech or any otf, it takes too long to pull it out of pocket, deploy it, re adjust it in the hand, I have noticed that lately while testing a folder, they are just not made for self defense. O.D. Green CANK that is money.....
I have quite a few expensive knives and tomahawks. Theyre all users no safe queens. But i only have 1 neck knife and it was never even intended to even be a neck knife. I edc the tops Alligator alley as my neck knife. Because it is very multi functional. It doubles as a gigging spear head, a bottle opener, a wire stripper and wire/fence breaker, a pot lifter, a pry bar, a flathead screwdriver and scraper and in a pinch even an ok can opener. Perhaps even more things that I haven't thought of. Although I don't know if it would be great at self defense. I have a feeling if you had to stab someone it would get stuck..though if you managed to unstick it man. that would make a real mess lol.
I agree with you 100% when it comes to value vs what you are getting. The laws of suply and demand dictates that what the consumers arre willing to pay sets the price of a item. Most of the really expensive knives are not high value. They are often like you say more a colletors item than a tool. Some companies embrace this completely. They end up making expensive man jewelry not weapons or tools. A sharp piece of metal eg. knives will cut flesh provided the edge is sharp enough. For example french soldiers in ww1 would use knives forged from Iron rods used for holding up barbed wire. And we can safely say they worked as intended. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Nail. Imo when it comes to effetivnes of a knife as a tool or a weapon you should consider grip, edge sharpnes, bladelength (depening on use) after all its a hard piece of metal. A nice good sheath is usefull so you can have it with you. A lot of the people that buy those expensive knives as you say dont use them. They are not tools even though they are still knives. You can use them as tools. But why would you when you can buy a really decent knife for around 20-50$? Its like a ferrari vs a hatchback. They are both cars. Both are gone get you from point A to B. Why bother with the ferrari unless you can / want to. I enjoyed the video! Keep em coming!
I agree on some points however I find it funny saying knives aren't worth the price when you stock 250 dollar knives for 500 dollars, I own multiple knives of the same quality made by trusted custom makers for half the price

Here in Canada if its double edge illegal also depending on the desceiption that its sold under also can make it illegal like if you call it a tactical weapon technically not allowed to CARRY it we can own it just not carry it well what use is that when you leave your property but if its a basic description not implying or classifying its a "weapon" then its legal to carry here. So basically we can carry them as "tools" but not "weapons" you know how touchy courts are lol
