So glad you mentioned the false antennas ... One of my main reasons for getting one of these would be the external-antennas range improvement in remote locations and the ability to set up a 3g/4g yagi at base camp... not just for netradio, but plain old telephone or basic internet too. I'm fitting my yacht with an N60 for exactly this reason ... it performs! I had a crew-member with a netradio and he was getting decent bars at almost 19 miles offshore, and that's 7 miles into international waters... albeit on his tip-toes on the coach roof ; ) I figure a masthead omni and an N60 at the chart table would get incredible offshore cover, and provide a useful AP for shipboard internet. I'll give these two a miss for crew shore radios. I'll probably look at the T199's again ... giving network radios to the crew when they go off wandering, to keep everyone in touch would be amazing... even while they're 100 miles away travelling to/from the boat! And having family connected in with RoIP would be the icing on the cake.
I think you’ve sold me. I new to network radio but getting super keep. I’ve been eyeing off the uniwa F40 on AlliExpress. This was the kind of review I’ve been looking for. Looks like a nice little radio.
Some good audio tests James. Nice to see yours and Lewis's videos to compare audio both ways. Good idea that. Great video mate. Hope u are well and doing ok?
What would be awesome is if they made a network radio that did 3G / 4G and had VHF & UHF dual radio built in that allows you to enter any frequency and ptt to talk on a VHF or UHF repeater or Simplex Is there any plans to make one like this ? From what I have seen the only frequencies in the phones is GMRS FRS and there is no way to change the frequency
Hi James, I need your help. How to install Zello app on my RT-3. Just bought the phone, tried to download and install the Zello app, but it says Version Not Supported. Please help me with a solution. I am in the UK. Thanks
I still don´t know what the added value is of this device. Technically its nice but you are communicating on a mobile phone band in a way you use a handheld and it will coast you monthly an amount of money. Okay its digital and you can´t listen in. But then you have D-star or DMR or fusion. Sometime we use Zello on our Mobile phone and thats it. though nice informative video. ps do you have for all the equipment different SIM cards or do you have for all 3 a duplicate? 73s from PD0FSH
It's a good questions but for a reference I have a old cheap andoid lg on Android 5 originally 4 phone running aprsdroid and I just downloaded a older version of the app but I run into troubles with the mobiletnc app and bluetooth so its questionable because it comes down to what apps you use and if those app developers stop supporting old versions

An Inrico T320 would be great for this. Real antenna. Plus it's 4G, and the T199 is 3G. 3G is eventually going to be turned off.

I was wondering about these. Seems really good. Yes, sounds much better. Needs to be 4G given that 3G will be turned off eventually.

Yea not long now till 3G goes. Now we’re looking to getting 5g ptt
@@Shack-time 5G PoC would be fantastic.

Where did you get the Uniwa James? UK dealer or import ? If an import did you get stung for duty?
Hi
I bought this from eBay. It came from China but there was no duty to pay.

Does the walkie talkie feature work even when you don’t have a SIM card in it because I only want to use the ptt and not the call feature
Put Zello on and goto Network Radios CH 19 il make you a mod. also i like toggle mode for the key up button.
What model number is the desktop In Rico ?
can i use zello and talk when screen is closed? or do i always have to open it?
Yes the screen can be turned off and still use the radio. There is a video on UA-cam showing how it’s done.
@@piplawrence2981 found it👍🏻
hi what model of uniwa ptt is this phone?
Whats the Exact Model and Cost ?, seen a few with diff add in names
