Very helpful. Will definitely be my next set of tires on the Ducati M620. Glad I bought the No-Mar tire changer to do it myself. At ~$80...I will need to change about 4 more sets of tires to have it pay for itself.

Your carb problem could be the aftermarket vent tube fitting on your gas tank vent line. We found they them to be troublesome on our ATVs. It was a hard problem to figure out, now we tell anyone we see with them to take them off.

Super 🆒 video! I just put the 705's on my '19 CB500X... I had a mainstream shop (ridenow power sports) install them front felt hella weird on my 10 mile ride home I checked the PSI it's at 52 PSI in the front!! now I lowered it down 29 in the front 41 in the rear. Hopefully that's better...

I have the same tires on my BMW F800GS. Mostly used for commuting but they definitely help on the "shortcuts". Also have done some light ADV riding on the NYBDR and they were fairly decent.

That’s great news about the BDR performance! Decent is all I need.

Motoz tires, also consider drilling out the plug for the "air-fuel" mixture screw and install an extension finger adjuster

Surging could be caused from a lean mixture, as previous comment suggests, raise needle one notch or try opening up the air/fuel mixture a little

Love the e705 on my 2012 versys 650. 90/10, great street tires. Front lasts forever, 5 ish K miles from rears.
On my old first generation KLR 650, they were great on the street. Not at all great on dirt.
If you want a 50/50 on the Dr 650, try Shinko 244. 5.10 on the back, 3.00 on the front, unless you want to try 2.75 which is knobbier.

For the value I love my Kendas on my KLR, but the whine almost hurts my ears at around 50mph on tarmac.

Shim the slide needle up approx .015 in.

I have the 705’s on my Vstrom 1000 and I hate them. The front got cupped right away and the rear I will be lucky to get 5000 km out of. The bike is too heavy, especially for such soft compound. Never again.

They’re great on anything lighter like the DR, but I’ve heard that the weight of the bigger bikes is their downfall. Especially a big like your DL1000. I run the 705’s on my DR, love em. I actually run a more aggressive Kenda on my v-strom.

It's all "opinions", so here's mine...
Shinko 705's... No better than OEM DEATHWINGS aka Trailwings 😊
I ride mostly dirt (sand) backroads with 30-40 country tarmac to and from the dirt.
Yes, there are way better tires out there... I have a Heidenau k60 17 for the rear replacement and a set of Shinko 244's sitting for the next change out.
But in all honesty, the DEATHWINGS have been great on everything but mud and wet clay.
