That GT turned out nice! I always wanted one like that when I was a kid. After I was an adult, I found an all chrome 2001 Redline 5Spot in a pawn shop when it was just a few years old and someone had put a set of Torker 3-piece cranks and a sealed BB in it already and was in perfect condition. It took me 6 months to pay off the lay a way and that bike has never stayed a night outside and has always had a place in my house somewhere. It has sat in a corner collecting dust for years and I am almost 50 now and I got bored recently and needed to get more exercise after working from home for 2 years, I dusted the old bike off and took it for a spin. I started to ride it everyday again and after almost 20 years the BB has developed a few pops and clicks and the 180mm cranks were killing my old knees so I hit EBay with a fresh credit card and ordered a ton of new parts for it, including a set of black Tuff II’s with red wall tires and I found an original downtube sticker for an RL20 that seems to fit the bike perfectly. I found an old school Velo Crossbow seat with a touch of red that matches the tires and decal with a new set of Troy Lee grips to round it off and I love it more now than I ever have and it’s like part of the family. I couldn’t decide on a crank length so after tons of research I finally decided on a set of 175mm which feel really good on my MX24 cruiser but I felt like any shorter and it would feel like a kids bike. Once the cranks get here I am going to blow it apart to the nuts and bolts and do a full cleaning of the chrome parts and reassembly. I may have other bikes but this one will always be special to me and reminds me of a simpler, happier time in my life before all of the headaches of adulthood. I guess that’s why old school bikes are so high now, adults like me with means to buy those bikes we lusted after!

I went with a set of chrome 175mm cranks and added a new chain and chainwheel just to freshen up the drivetrain. It rides better than it ever has now and I get compliments on it just about every time I ride it. I built a new school fitbikeco xxl TRL that I found in pieces on eBay but didn’t like the knee killing 30/10 gearing (60 gear inch, 3.0 ratio) and stepped the chainwheel down to a 28t (56 gear inch, 2.8 ratio) which gives it a little higher cruising speed than the standard ‘55 inch’ setup but doesn’t make my knees ache (as badly) after a long ride.

If I remember right, there were the GT Pro Performer with a bent bottom tube ( by the crank like a Dyno) and the type with out the bend on the bottom. I had won a large flatland contest in 1983-84 they gave me a brand new yellow GT Pro Performer. Needles to say I switched from Haro to GT after that in my career.

I still have it. After seeing all kinds of footage being uploaded to UA-cam, I remember the producer made music and made a video for an opening sequence and I was in that as well, not sure how to upload a VHS but I heard that guys can do it. A bit of fun facts on Phillips screw driver:
The Phillips screwdriver is named after Henry F. Phillips, an American businessman who acquired the rights to the screw and screwdriver from John P. Thompson.
    Inventor
John P. Thompson is credited with inventing the Phillips screw in 1932 and the screwdriver for it in 1933.
    Patent
The patents were granted directly to Phillips, even though Thompson is credited with the invention.
    Significance
The Phillips screw's self-centering property is important for automated production lines and car manufacturers.
    Name
The Phillips screw is also known as the cross-head screw because of its cross-shaped recess.

Got a brand new black 1989 GT Vertigo for my birthday. Within the first week I had changed the sprocket to a CD style (popular at the time) and stripped off all the reflectors. Still have the factory wing logo sprocket, barely any paint worn off the teeth! Still have the bike along with the paperwork too, have lots of scars from that thing!

Is it still possible to get decals for a 94 dyno air? Mine got stolen years ago and they took some of the stock decals off of it. I ended up putting ones off a 98 on it because I couldn't get the proper ones for it.

The rear brake is not true. I had those factory on my Blue 1992 or 93 . I kown this is a later one because of the black finish and the tri- wheels. I want mine back Sooooooo bad just to have it. I left it at a buddys house when i moved back to california in 2002. I instagram him and he ignores me. I do know where his parents still live. Might be worth going back to Ohio and beating the door down

But for whatever reason the gt bikes were not popular in my area.

@@parkersgarage4216 oo ok I get what your saying. Gts we’re popular in my area but more of a higher end brand so a lot of us didn’t have them. Mongoose seemed to be the main bike people had. We had a small bike shop that sold mongoose in my town also so I’m sure that was part of it.
