This channel is the worst! I went from trying to find my childhood GT Intercepter to collecting like 8 bikes lol LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE! Love the info Love the community. Thanks
Bro, about 2 years ago I found a bike just like this at the Goodwill for $15. It had all GT components on it so I bought it. Since the frame was two piece, I thought it was a trash frame. It didn’t have any stickers on it. I still have the bike and after seeing this video, I now know what it is and its history. Mine is a second generation. Looks like I will be restoring it now. I thank you guys for making this video. Seeing the restore would be amazing. 👊🏽
Auburn Cycles was founded in 1988 by Todd Huffman and Bob Morales. The project was originally going to be a Honda-branded product that Huffman had pitched to Honda Motor Corp., but, at the last minute, Honda decided not to license out their name to a BMX bike company. With the product already developed and ready to go into production, Huffman and Morales decided to continue the project and use a different name. Huffman came up with the name Auburn from a 1930's classic sports touring car. Morales designed the original logo, and Auburn Cycles was born. Auburn's first product was a two-piece "modular" BMX racing frame made of Chromoly steel. Some of Auburn's first factory team riders were Rod Beckering, Todd "TC" Corbitt, Robbie "Robo" Morales, Erick "Big E" Bartoldus and Danny Millwee. The frames were further developed using an aluminum rear end called a "Works Link." In 1989 the company was acquired by GT Bicycles and Huffman was hired by GT to manage the brand in addition to his Marketing Director title. GT produced Auburn frames and bicycles until 1997.
I’m restoring my’89 now. I met Todd Huffman at the Spring Nationals in Roseville CA and bought my Auburn a few months later from Trend Bike Source. Looking forward to riding it again.
I remember my 1st Auburn..the detachable rear was the coolest.I had the florescent green frame. The second Aurburn I had was the second Gen works link with a blue frame. And yes they did make a 24" cruiser frame as well.Very hard to find now days
That dyno frame you pulled down from up top is a 87 btw. The frame stand is sloped downwards and it has no cable guide on top tube. Those Morales bikes are also sweet. Bob was always a innovator since Dyno 83👍 Keep those old history lessions coming Phu. Ima send you pics of my 80s bikes on your IG btw.
Saw the thumbnail and said...hey that's an Auburn. Currently rebuilding 2 of them. I know Bob Morales was one of the founders but so was Todd Huffman. Although, now you can see the Dyno downturn on the top tube just before the seat tube....since you pointed that out. I always liked that style characteristic on these bikes....and they were super light back then. As for Pro Bars.......many of us are looking for them....just not willing to pay what some want for them.
I watched this channel so much last weekend my ol lady asked me "where's the bike shop, why don't you just go in there and see what's up?" lol I'm 6 hours away, but next time im in SoCal I'm fasho slidin!!
That photo of Bob Morales is Ritchie Valens' older brother played by Esai Morales in the La Bamba movie not the BMX Legend Bob Morales who also designed the GT Pro Performer frame with fellow BMX legend Eddie Fiola. FYI
Love this series Alf, BMX shop in SoCal, spent a few weeks out there as a 10 yr old in 1985, bike game was strong, rollerblades too believed it or not, back to Jersey felt like I visited the future.
I remember auburn running that frame style for years and into the threadless stage. I remember even the suspension stage also. Jeesh bmx plus taught me alot
A guy i used to ride with had a Green one with Tange Switch blade forks, he was a racer but rode a lot of street and dirt/park/mini ramp too. The back end used to creek and flex really bad, very nice looking bike but very single purpose.. He swapped it for a S&M Holmes with Pitch forks!
Great history about Bob Morales and the DYNO and Auburn bmx bikes. I know Bob started the AFA but never knew he started those 2 bike brands, that's rad. Great entertaining videos and always loving the content.
That seat post was one of the best I've ever had, and those powerlite powerbend bars I love them stuff to drool 🤤 over. That removable rear triangle is a trip. Awesome video.
Alf and Phu are some of the most awesome people! I love watching Phu videos as much as Alfredo’s riding videos! I hope to meet these guys one day. Love the videos as always and keep up the awesome work!
I tried looking up some info on Dyno recently to no avail. I'll go off this dude's name and see what I find. Thanks fellas!! Can't wait to see what Dyno y'all are bringing next.
Sweet bike! Midschool (late 90’s early 00’s) Redlines like the SupaX had that same bend in the top tube. Similar geometry. I had one and it was a tank but now I wish I kept it.
The first Dyno race frame was actually 85 or 86, around the same time as the Comp. Extremely rare, but a few have surfaced. They were stickered, and painted as Dynos, but were actually older leftover discontinued Patterson frames that GT got rid of under the Dyno brand.
Man! I'm loving these videos. Keep it up! the older bikes are so cool more videos like this please. Maybe some midschool race bikes with all the trick anodized parts.
I remember when I was a a kid the owner of Greenline cycles in Chico, formerly Oroville CA had a green one, use to jump dirt jumps and ramps on it behind his shop. Rad memories.
I loved the redline cranks Yes ur Absolutely right with Bob M. Loved g.t. hubs the cone shape so awesome.love these video the D.K neck loved that neck & Tough neck.
I'm not 100% sure but I think the association was with GT not Dyno. I know they have a close working relationship but the bike was definitely spec'ed with GT parts. My bike was painted at some point but I'm almost sure that there was a made by "GT" sticker on that bike. I owned the CR20Rx with the Aluminum Work Link. (still own it). Unfortunately the aluminum sub frame did not survive being used as an aggressive street frame definitely not what it was intended for. If I could get my hands on another Work Link aluminum sub frame I'd definitely build that up again. It was an amazing bike. I'd love to show it some love again. High end restomod. (Rear end recreated in Titanium with 990 mounts and 14mm dropouts).
My buddy had a 90s Auburn and it had the bolt on rear triangle. Not sure if he kept it but it was cool. Where’s the brake mounts on that thing though? Pretty sure his had the cantilever mounts.

you do not see a lot of Works link rear end in aluminum because they cracked easily. my friend did not get a whole season out of his rear end before he went back to the chrome moly ones. he got a Hawk F20 after that. got one of those? Primo made a Rod post. pegs were Tube Steaks. cable spliter for gyro unit called a Pervert. the hub you have has similar features to a suntour hub i had, it was the beginning of, or the design that led to Standard free coaster technology. i got the hub from a kid in front of a Wal mart. slapped Standard axles and an Unbreak unit in and Bam! free coaster. accurate or not, good vids man and history

7:41 that look haunts many Asian kids. Next thing you know you getting hit with the tsinelas, walis, belt buckle, or anything moms could grab within arms length out of nowhere lmao
Auburn was bought by GT. GT also bought Dyno. Bob and Eddie Fiola helped design the Pro Performer in 1984. It’s all inter related but I wouldn’t go as far as to say this Auburn is Dyno,
Ya of course it was made by him plus that's why the Auburn always had gt bike parts only it mostly came with the gt dyno stem, 3 piece gt or one piece crank, gt chainwheel, gt seat, gt seat pole and AA GT tires. No coincidence that the Auburn came with gt or dyno parts.
I bought a green one of these just for the wheels (it had purple t 1000s on it i traded it for a basic sluggo and a bully frame as just a f+f but i bought it off a free add in the local paper it read bmx bikes 25 pounds each or all 5 bikes for £120 i bought them all and had to dismantle 4 of them to get 45 miles home on a train lol it was a mission but a worthwile mission .
There's a Dyno bike called the Crisis, right? I can't seem to find it due to the ps1 video game called "Dino Crisis" but I remember having a bike in my garage when I was a kid that my dad said was a Dyno Crisis.
That's an auburn Cr20 I had the auburn Cr20R good shit and how much I used to have one and want one again Side note remember all the bikes out the GT catalog had their own branding stamped on the bottom of the forks and near the rear triangle GT had the GT and Robinson had an R powerlite had flags and Auburn had an A so if your parts don't have those it's not real
99 slammer are not as coveted as the early 90s Dyno slammer..becuase weird frame ..but it is full chromoly..so you should be able to get 800.00 at very least
This channel is the worst!

I have that same GT saddle. Since new. Are they worth anything?
GT drop nose seats in good condition can sell for $200.

Auburn CR24 was made in 1995 only. And only available in chrome one piece not 2 piece construction like the 20 inch bikes.

Dose anyone know if the works link fit both versions of the Auburn or in other words can a works link from a 88 fit a 94 because of where the bend is?

didn't they make a 24 inch rear triangle and forks for those to convert it to a 24 inch?
Do you remember the BMX plus Auburn test ride where Robbie Morales had a picture doing what I guess I would call a 1 footed superman
