James Swanson It really depends on how your business is set up equipment wise and what types of jobs you are looking to do. We have seen more and more tree services that do not do any climbing. They pass on jobs that require it. As you know a good employee that has a CDL can be tricky to find so this employee may fill an important role for you. I would however caution against changing your business model just for one employee.
@@Milfordbeach great question and one that unfortunately doesn’t have a simple answer as there can be a number of factors that enter into the decision to climb or not climb a tree to perform work aloft. Some of these factors are, condition of the tree, weather conditions, availability of aerial lift equipment and the over abundance of available jobs to select from. Hope that helps. Thanks for the comment.
It depends on what part of the country you are in and what duties the ground person performs. Some companies pay ground workers in excess of $25/hr because they run equipment, help with rigging and overall are crucial to the job. I believe most start in the $15-20/hr range. Hope that helps.
