This is why I love electric guitar. It's such a relatively new instrument that people still find new ways to play, and Tosin is one of the best at breaking the boundaries of the instrument.
“He’s like” 😂 I really hope people realize the disjointed humor in that. Also, I tried to follow along with that explanation and I couldn’t follow it for the life of me. I’ve been playing guitar for 18 years. Abasi is god tier
@@Nhask666 Yeah, I’m doing ok mate. The state of the world still has me on the edge of despair but I’m trying to stay positive. Whereabouts in the world are you, if you don’t mind me asking?
@@Moakalatte Yes you are right. I am just doing fine so I could continue my normal life routine: wake up, work, sleep and playing guitar, of course. @@Nhask666 I’m glad to hear that a routine (and playing guitar) is helping your mental health. Greetings from the UK! I’ve stopped over in Brunei on the way to Aus. It was SO warm! Tosin Abasii is the kind of guitarist to motivate you to get better. Or motivate you to throw you guitar in the nearest dumpster. Either way he's a good motivator lol
He pretty much is! I'm a guitarist who's practiced selective picking and primarily with the fret hand, that's what you're setting up, with the picking hand letting you do those multiple notes 😁
You're actually on the right track. While playing a note, he's probably letting the edges of his fingers rest on the neighboring strings in strategic places to keep them silent.
Wow dude you are the true guitar master what a genius, if only someone had discovered you instead of this guy maybe the state of music, nay, the world, would be in a much brighter place
Hear me out. Maybe I'm crazy, but has anyone ever thought to look and see if this man has a GameShark plugged into his guitar somewhere?? Because this whole technique looks like cheat codes to me🤣🤣🤣
The first 3 notes are the same note, the second three notes are the same note (an octave higher than the first 3) but the last notes are not the same, I think it's just a descending run of pulled off and hammered on notes
I feel like this is one of those things that a lot of us have stumbled across, and played around with, but never cashed in on it like he did. It’s like Edward Van Halen and tapping. People dabbled with it before him, but he turned it into a consistent and refined thing.
This man is so good Im concerned he's wasting his genius brain on something below him. Like could he invite climate time travel if he if he studied quantum applied physics? Teleport all the garbage climate elements in our lifetime to 30,000 years in the future? Put the guitar down and get studying Tosin!
Ultra thick tones are a good indicator that someone is more of a bedroom hobbyist. Onstage in context with the rest of a band you don’t want the guitar to take up every frequency range.
literally a delay pedal in his hands
It really is, isn’t it? 😂
Nuno also has a technique with muting that sounds like a delay but's just him muting the strings. He shows it on his interview with Rick Beato video

He's like a black Jimi Hendrix

He's a hell of a lot better than Hendrix lol...
Amazing tutorial. I just started guitar yesterday (I learnt the em7 cord), but after watching this I can sight-read Ywngie Malmsteen.
Man. what a technique! It is like playing drum notes in a guitar fret and picking those strings. Awesome!
So cool isn’t it? Hope you’re doing well mate 😃
@@Moakalatte Definitely cool! I doing fine here, Matt. Thank you for asking. Hope you are doing well, too 😀.

Insane, like everything Tosin does...
So true. Thank you for checking it out and commenting 🤟🏻

@@mikeKidLazy that means a lot. Thank you 😊🤟🏻
The most impressive part is he making it looking easy.
The greats always make it look easy.
1:39 that sort of thing
Just says it casually after everyone’s jaw is on the floor
Or as Victor Wooten calls it, open, hammer, pluck
Thanks Tosin for sharing, I tried that technique and failed in spectacular fashion, now I have lost the will to live 🤣

1:00 That riff sounds like a supercar downshifting lol
State-of-the-art ✨🎸✨
He Is really at another level!
I’m no guitarist but I’m fascinated by the way he plays. His fingers are so long it looks he’s playing multiple notes at once per finger!

“That sort of thing” - Tosin Abasi
Dude rosin is aficionado technical genius oh my god
beautiful technique❤❤
This guys on some next level shitttt 😮
thank you for the knowledge, sir~
His thumb is the real technique!
Tosin is the best guitar player in the world!!
"That sort of thing" LOL. Amazing
Some interesting stuff. Selective Picking sounds really cool 😎
I honestly thought he was using a delay or something. It's a crazy cool technique! 🤟🏻
@@Moakalatte I've been away on holiday mate 😃 been trying to catch up with all my YT notifications 😃
@@Moakalatte I guess you don't need the delay pedal if you're using this technique 😎

@@RockerEmilio No, but it is quicker to use a delay pedal! 😂
Dude is just built different
Bass gave us Victor Wooten and guitar answered with Tosin Abasi.
his ring finger looks 50% longer than my damn middle finger.
His skill at playing the bass if only surpassed by his skill at teaching how to play it.

To my animals as leaders fans, do y'all know if this is an actual song? It's sounds familiar but I don't know what it is
Dude. Mind. Blown. I am learning sweep picking but this is like hammer ons while going back and forth sweep picking. Wtf.
"That sorta thing" 😂
Hi-Tech ✨🎸✨
I’ve been doing this for years

WTAF 😂 insane technique
Reminds me of Nuno Bettencourt's solo on the song No Respect from 1995, but way more complex.
so, hammer ons?
wait a minute that is what thsi is called????!?!? i have been doing it for a while and never knew ir has a name how....😢
Sounds like willy wonkas train is going too fast 😂
Holy hell
How is he doing that part at 1:00? 3 notes all being hit 3 times?
The first 3 notes are the same note, the second three notes are the same note (an octave higher than the first 3) but the last notes are not the same, I think it's just a descending run of pulled off and hammered on notes
Actually I slowed it down and the last 3 notes are a descending arpeggio which appears to be mostly hammered on
Okay, I've kind of done this but not as cleanly haha
is this from a song?
Kascade
Kascade song
I guess 0:58 is kinda prototype of Red Miso
