Love how you picked thrash bands that bordered on early death metal. Can definitely hear the influence and evolution from those thrash bands to death metal. Great vid!
Devastation (the one from Corpus) I often give the example of Devastation vs Malevolent Creation for thrash vs death. Though Malevolent Creation borders on thrash
That era/style of thrash/death is one of my top favorites. It's catchy yet chaotic and raw. I love demolition hammer, kreator, dark angel, possessed. Please anyone recommend me some more bands like this.
I like how you didn’t pick some of the obvious stuff, and even if you did do one of the bigger bands, you did a less known song for some of them, and shined some light on underrated classics Great video
There are only winners. Champions in fact. The level of innovation of these relatively early bands is unbelievable. I remember reading on Dark Angels "Time Doesn't Heal" CD booklet that the record contained 110 riffs. This is what I call dedication. Awesome playing as always!
This is not a battle, it's a festival! 👍🤘🤘🤘 And yes, old school is best most of the time, especially for Thrash, some got lost during the 90's, a time in which Death Metal rather evolved, and became more technical. But the Old School Death Metal, that's Death Metal from the Crypt. 🤘
You are definitely one of the best guitar riffs channels on youtube, unlike most others who seem to always play some of the most basic stuff, so I like that you include lesser known bands
the amount of great riffs, songs, albums and bands I've found cause of your videos... you're a legend man, your riff knowledge is impressive and your chops with it
I remember many of the Death metal bands back then went to record at Morrisound Studios with Scott Burns in Tampa.FL . I'm 51 and still listen to this stuff...OLD SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!
Been discovering bands and banging my head for the past week because of your amazing content ! Thank you man , looking forward to discovering your channel even more !
Congratulations for over 100.000 views! Actually a very practical audiovisual compendium and collection of the most notable artists and their pieces in their genre. Metal is long lasting Rock’n’Roll: if once infected, your live is save from being senselessness.
Oh man, how the hell do you find the time to learn all these riffs to perfection?!! Awesome video as always 🤘🏻 I haven't heard Benediction in awhile and that was always my #1 to play on the radio back in my college radio show days of the 90's...memory lane, thanks.
again, all must hail the suffocator!!! me thinks im around ur age, may b a lil older...that shit brought back a lot ov memories, n some stuff i wasn't familiar with...well done, n thank u!!!
These are genres from the 80s how are you new to this? If you didnt listen back then, you shouldnt be now. There is a countless list of a thousand+ metal bands to come out after the year 2000 that makes everything before it/these genres sound like a joke.
@@TheAbandonedAccount7 lol What you’re implying is that you should only listen to bands after the year of your birth, but what happens if you’re late to the party of discovering a band? By your logic, you shouldn’t listen to them. Such a backwards logic
I love them all, but I would have to give the edge to death metal. That Cannibal Corpse riff alone is one of my favorite of all time off of one of my favorite death metal albums of all time. Great video!
obituary wins... damn the riffs on cause of death... so damn good.. I never rank them in my top bands but that album... holy moly... I love chopped in half... it just soaks my old metal soul in so many ways... kind of like Sepultura beneath the remains... ahhh, the memories...
Great video ! What a great choice , good balance between what was well known and other bands like Solstice and Protector which were highly overlooked back in the day
I dont think there are any new metalheads listening to this crap. New metalheads were born during a time when metal evolved and became much better than how it started out in the 80s
Old school is the best. It was all about the cool riffs back then. Nowadays it seems like the riffs are getting weaker, but they try to get away with it by playing faster with much more technical stuff. Which makes it more boring.

Right on the money. You know your classic Death/ Thrash metal.

Old Entombed, played with a more conventional tone, is very thrashy. That tone is just purr evil, though.
That era/style of thrash/death is one of my top favorites. It's catchy yet chaotic and raw. I love demolition hammer, kreator, dark angel, possessed. Please anyone recommend me some more bands like this.
I'm 51 and can't stop listening to this type of music. Metal till the day I die!🤘
It's very fitting for the times we live in, too. As awful as 2020+ are, I will admit they're metal as hell.

I’m 51 as well. Still trying to get caught up with so much great metal that came out in 2021.

Glad to see bands like Demolition Hammer, Dark Angel, Sadus, Protector and Solstice! under appreciated.
Sadus?! Demolition Hammer?! Hell yeah!!!
Thrash metal at it's finest
I cried in happiness after seeing SADUS
this guy never fails in entertaining

One of those competitions where everybody is a winner, especially the audience. Nicely done :D
Indeed. I love seeing reminders like these that metal has taken leaps and bounds since these days
Flawless as ever but seriously how brutal was that staring through the eyes of the dead. Made my day

Demolition Hammer is definitely a band that deserves more praise. Those guys recorded what I believe to be THE most brutal thrash metal album ever.
Could sit and watch you play KREATOR riffs all day long

Most "modern metal" is morse code on a bridge cable.
If you're feeling creative, toss in a jazz chord after each letter of morse code.
