Your idea of using sharptools rule engine to manage two or more hubs was great. I have a hubitat and HA, and some devices work better on HA than on my hubitat. However, I never really use the rules in sharptools. I primarily use it for the awesome dashboards. I'll have to play with the rules this weekend. However, for anyone who likes the rules from Sharptools and uses Hubitat, I would implore you to learn rule machine on that platform instead since it's infinitely more flexible than sharptools rules engine. A suggestion for the channel would be to do a video on hubitats latest firmware update. Specifically the significant improvements to the rule machine application with a much better UI to represent your rules in a cleaner way visually. Great content, man!
Glad you liked the video! I'll have to check out the latest rule machine on hubitat. I've pretty much only ever used webCoRE on SmartThings and Hubitat so never really looked into their rule machine
Most of my Webcore automations that are currently running on Smartthings are not very complex. So, I have started moving them to simple automations within ST. But, I have tried replicating the pistons that control my Keen vents in ST and in Sharptools to no avail. I know that you did a video showing how to switch to Hubitat from Smarttings and running Webcore on it. I am thinking I need a HE hub just for the automations for my vents and leave everything else alone. My question is, If I move the Keen Vent automations to HE, can the sensor report to ST and HE at the same time? For instance the same door sensor that is controlling a light in ST also reports the temp that is used to control the Vent that would be moving to HE. So the sensor would need to be paired with both ST and HE at the same time.
You can't have a device paired to two different hubs unfortunately. What I used (and will be going away with Groovy) is HubConnect (community.hubitat.com/t/release-hubconnect-share-devices-across-multiple-hubs-even-smartthings/12028) which allowed me to share devices into hubitat that were connected to ST. I did find someone saying they were looking for testers for a Hubitat to ST interface (community.smartthings.com/t/hubitat-smartthings-edge-interface-beta-testers-wanted/249928) but not sure if that would cover your needs. Can you share a screenshot of your automation you are trying to replicate in sharptools? Also, if you haven't you might consider posting on the sharptools community (community.sharptools.io/) to see if anyone has any suggestions. As I've gotten into some of my more complex pistons I'm finding i need several different rules to accomplish things but so far everything has been doable for me.
Keep in mind that sharptools isn't run by Samsung. It's a separate platform that someone else has developed, maintains, and continues to add new features to
December 31st 2022 (subject to change). Based on this: support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/9339624925204 "we expect it to be complete by the shutdown date for Groovy integrations on December 31, 2022, at 00:00 (PST)." webCoRE does currently work on hubitat and will not be impacted by the end of groovy support on SmartThings.
@@BeardedTechGuy Ok... I guess I know what I'll be doing between now and 31 Dec 😒. Long ago I learned webCore from you, and appreciate your new training.
If you plan to stick on SmartThings but switch over to sharptools, I'd recommend starting your transition now. There is a bit of a "unlearning" curve that I'm still struggling with for some of my more complex pistons. Thanks for continuing to support the channel by watching! I'm glad you've found my videos helpful :)
What are your thoughts on SharpTools? Let me know below!

This is great! Luckily, I could replicate most of my routines on the Smartthings app, with the exception of the ones that needed variables.
I'm glad to hear that!
Just what I needed thanks!
I'm glad you found the video helpful!
thanks for the help. crazy that i'm being ransomed for $30 a year to do what i was doing for free for years.

How much time do you think we have before webCore goes away?
