I’ve tried several times but I’m getting no supported files when I plug it in my van is the correct port. The files are mostly TAR files, is that correct ?
Any issues with updating? I saw some users taking about circular updates where it kept going back into the setup. Any risk in leaving the flash drive in after it updates or should i remove it ?
I recommend waiting a month or so after a update is released before trying to install the update. I've seen a few pulled back once people start trying to install. Drive should be removed after install is complete. No point in running power through it if the USB drive is not in use anymore.
@@BeardedTechGuy I actually left the car since it told me that I took. I came back and it was frozen. Screen was blank. I hit the reset button and the screen rebooted but was black still. Popped the flash drive out and in and it picked up. The install itself was stuck and finished right after. Hope this helps someone out.
@@BeardedTechGuy Okay, thanks. I might try that, we have been having troubling when connecting the USB to the Kia Soul, as the car does not read the files on the USB. Hopefully this might work.
To my knowledge it would not void any part of the warranty. The steps outlined in this video are provided directly from Kia and are the same steps used by a dealership for the upgrade process
Is there an update or anything I can do to install onstar or other similar applications? Due to me living in MA Kia does not give that application because of our right to repair law.
System we'll just say no files supported. I tried to answer the model and navigation but it won't even show up. I have a 2023 Sportage. When I reset it, the system a reset to a old navigation that I cannot update even through the USB.
im trying to follow these instructions but I'm receiving the following error when I'm trying to download. Navigation Update downloads are temporarily unavailable. Is this something wrong on Kia's end or mine?
That would be on Kia's end. They most likely pulled back the most recent update. This could be due to a new one coming out soon (they pull the current update a week or two before a new release for some reason) or if they had too many issues and they don't want more people to download. I'd check again in a week or two and it should be available.
I have a 2022 Seltos. Every time I try to update the system using USB, I get "no usable files" and I'm using the updater. now what? I contacted Kia and they're stumped too.
I would format the USB drive as exFat (this will wipe all data off of it) and run the updater on the drive. Make sure to not put any other files on the drive. You'll also want to make sure you are plugging the drive directly into the port labeled "USB". This is the same port you would plug your phone in for android auto / apple carplay. If the port has a picture of a battery under it, that is the wrong port.
What if you've had Android auto in the past and you updated to Android 14 and sits that point it doesn't recognize it as Android auto on a 2019 Kia soul
Hello Sir, I'm Living Outside The U.S (Country In The Middle East), And I Want To Display The Map Of My Country In The Main Navigation System. But I Don't Know The Procedure and I Don't Even Know If I Can Display A Country Except The U.S Or Not. Thanks
I'm not sure honestly. I think your best option would be to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and display a map that way (as long as your car supports either option). Sorry I can't be of more help!
it doesn't work, no matter what you do. What's funny though, is to go to a Kia dealership and have them try and do it. Then laugh and tell them that you want your money back for a service that doesn't work and has never worked. Paying $199 for a service that doesn't do what it's supposed to do is just plain stupid. If they can't update the Navigation System at a Kia dealership, what the fuck????????????????????????
Updated my 22 Cerato with the new 2024 versions using this guide which initially had an old sept 2021 software and firmware, cheers!
Glad the video helped!
will the navigation update also update the audio? Because that is what need updated.

Do you have to use USB with the amount of storage they recommended? We have tried few times with bigger USB, but did not work.
@@SC2_WARRIORS hmmmmm I'd probably try to use the recommended amount if you're having trouble with larger sized USB sticks

Make sure you're formatting the USB drive withe correct file system (this will erase the USB drive so make sure to take all files off of it)
@@BeardedTechGuy Will do, thanks again brother!
Do you know if updating the head unit yourself voids the warranty?

What functionality are you looking to get out of the application?
Did you have to format your usb drive to fat32 for it to work in the car?
Windows does not support 64GB partitions in fa32 format
Are you able to update ones that don’t have the navigation package? I have a 2019 optima and just want to update the infotainment software if possible
Based on their supported vehicle list the 2019 optima audio only is supported: update.kia.com/US/EN/updateNoticePopup2/988

same for my 2015 kia forte.
I have a question how to update Kia Seltos (Indian Variant) 2020 model and as u know old UI was kinda average so i wanna update infotainment how i do?
I am only aware of the process for North American vehicles, sorry!
Whenever I put the usb stick in the car
The update tells me to put one with the update file it cant read the usb stick
I think the USB stick is supposed to be formatted with either the FAT32 or exFAT filesystem. Probably won't work with NTFS or any other filesystem.

64GB, brand new, 3.0

@@BeardedTechGuy I found a way to do it without the updater. I guess my infotainment system is "less" than the updater has, or something.
Hi how did you get it without the USB method?@@TraceeOkrainec
I'VE TRIED AND SAYS NO FILES FOUND. IVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR WEEKS
If my car doesnt have android auto because it has an old software. Will this add android auto?
Most likely not, there are very few cars that have had it added in after the fact. What car and year do you have?
