John Byrne's run. Obviously Jack and Stan set the tone but Byrne's work had more of a science fiction feel to it. Hickman's did too but Byrne was first.
The first few issues of Hickman's run actually references Millar's run a bit since Millar's comes before Hickman's. So if you're planning to read both anyway, it's better to start with Millar's run.

My favorite runs of the Fantastic Four are Walter Simonson's (my personal favorite) as well as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's. My favorite Fantastic Four stories are John Byrne and Ron Wilson's The Thing, Fantastic Four Vol 1 Whatever Happened to the Fantastic Four by Ryan North as well as the rest of the Ryan North books and Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

@@TheComicBookReport so FF is something that I’ve been interested in but have struggled with. I absolutely love the “dysfunctional superhero family” aspect. I read Hickmans run and it was good, but not my thing necessarily. I’m always willing to give them a try though for sure! Maybe ultimate FF is for me
@@Theworthlessopinion not for everyone but I’ve dug it. I’ve honestly heard mixed things about ultimate FF but I’ve only read the first handful of issues. I’m eager to see what I think of a larger stretch of The run

Also the current North run is a great place to start even mid run as they are mostly episodic stories
Waid and ‘Ringo’s run is my favorite.
And as a kid I remember reading a reprint of silver surfer and Galactus’ first appearance.

The Fantastic Four and The Mighty Thor are my favorite Silver Age comics, my favorite Golden Age comics are Superman and Green Arrow,.
Favorite silver for me are Amazing Spider-Man and then Fantastic Four, for DC it’s Flash

What did you feel about that one? I struggled to get into Marvel’s Season One books
