This is a great game to add to the "do a couple episodes every now and then" list
ABSOLUTELY
Please! Very relaxing.
Yes!
I was going to say the exact same thing!
Yeah for sure
Arin calling pines “Christmas Trees” is big south boy energy.
I grew up between Washington/Oregon and see these trees everyday lol Interesting to see how others react to things that are normal to you.
Southern California energy, too, honestly LOL. Speaking as someone from SoCal. Every coniferous tree is a Christmas tree 😅
I know what you mean. I was like "That's a fir, Arin. That's a spruce, Arin."
Grew up in Mississippi and there were 3x as many pines as all deciduous trees put together, so maybe consider recalibrating your idea of the Southern arboreal distribution :)
As a florida human, this is definitely specifically big Florida energy haha, because I also call them Christmas trees
There's something entirely freaky about watching them play this late at night only to suddenly find them looking at the storefront of a place you ate at a week ago.
oh that Has to be bizarre feeling
I was wondering why a road look so familiar one time. Only to realize I had literally just drove on it to get to my brother's house.
Really weird lol.
yo that's trippy.
I only got familiar vibes when they had locations in my state, but it was not anywhere I've visited before.
Oh dude same. I was watching at like 2 am and suddenly they are 3 down the road from my apartment.
Img guys they are coming for you! Run!
I adore how arin doesn’t wanna cheat by not moving which is an essential part of the game but will reset the map for a better drop
It's that kind of illogical wtf that makes them fun to watch sometimes!
There’s nothing wrong with moving around a little more, if you want. It’s kind of expected that you’ll follow the roads until you get some useful info to work with. Still, very enjoyable episode!
We need to get this comment up to the top. I feel like they're missing out on an opportunity with this game.
Agreed, hop around on the roads a little and find someting to go of off. You don't have to do this "hardcore" version that you're doing. ;)
Yeah you can put up some rules for yourself, like max of 5 moves or something like that.
Yeah, for some reason, they seem to think moving is like a hint or something
Especially since Dan straight-up finds playing that way interesting
Arin: *sees a single evergreen tree* ah yes this is the pacific northwest
Arin sees a palm tree "It's Florida"
Arin sees anything remotely not pine or palm" It's a swamp!"
US Topography according to Arin:
Palm Tree? Florida
Pine Tree? Pacific Northwest
Flat? Midwest (probably Nebraska)
Extremely green? North Carolina
Old buildings? New England
@@reallyochilli I think he called flat places florida more than other places
@@reallyochilli Obviously fake European village in the middle of a socal town?
Denmark.
@@reallyochilli I mean, that logic got 'em decently far
Geoguessar: Moving around is an important function in trying to find your location
Arin: Oh no I moved I don't want to cheat!
The game seems really preoccupied with Florida and California, especially.
I know its way too obvious
Eli? What are you doing here.
@@anthonymills911 Given that he's animated the Grumps and even commented on a few of their videos before, he might be an active watcher.
@@UnethicalExperimental Chill brother. I didn't know that. I love PlagueOfGripes. I'm glad to see some of my favorite creators commenting on each other's work.
@@anthonymills911 Sorry if my wording seemed to imply aggression. It was not my intention for it to sound that way.
To be honest, I liked when it kinda stopped being versus and just started being them having a fun time working together to guess
Here have a real comment
@@SatisfiedShark yes 👍 great to see other human beings commenting
I also liked how they were more cooperative than competitive.
agreed. it’s fun to see them try to take each other out in monopoly or kirby golf, but the versus format isn’t my favorite for this game. especially since each game has an odd number of rounds so one person guesses one more time than the other.
@@neversuperfennecwarrior9486 I am also human. Hello fellow Earth dwellers.
*Games show picture of the surface of the sun*
Arin: Well its clearly hot...I am gonna guess...Florida
It was funny to me how many times he guess Florida, but he was right more times than not this episode.
And he IS RIGHT! :D
Oh look! The little conspiracy reptilian is trying to hide the palm tree! Definitely Florida! Palm trees only grow in Florida.
Please, the sun is nice and dry. Florida is like the sweaty ballsack tanning on the sun
Don't forget all those wild 'christmas trees' that can only grow in the pacific northwest
Everyone's talking about the Arin + FL love connection and no one has mentioned the one round that was in a fucking salon lmaooo
I know! Dan's luck had me crying actual tears from laughing
one time they put me in a museum in china and i couldn’t even get out lmao
Arin and Danny calling moving "cheating" in geoguesser is kind of cute. It's like when your kids tell you the floor is lava
That's because the floor is lava. The only reason you wouldn't know that, is if you're a mole-person
Arin got Florida! I guess even a broken palm tree is right twice a day.
Lmao I thought the same thing
They got it A COUPLE times this episode. Both times Arin got Florida, he was super close. Man knows his Florida.
It helps when you limit to the US. Palm trees are everywhere, but not they're definitely not everywhere across the US.
Its definitely cheating if you move around to look for the city's name.
You effectively remove the guesser part of geoguesser.
@@DrNaviMD Then why wouldn’t they just blur the names? They blur all kinds of shit. If you get the city name, that’s not cheating. It’s cheating if you use that information to GOOGLE where you are.
"Ooh, christmas trees. Gotta be pacific NW"
I know Arin's from Florida and lives in California, but it's like the man has never seen a conifer in his life.
As a native Floridian who has lived in Cali, I have no clue wtf a conifer is
@@scs998 pine trees, spruce trees, evergreens. things that have pine cones, hence conifer
@@scs998 It means 'cone bearing' and refers to any evergreen that, surprise, bears a cone. The trees themselves are usually cone shaped as well but the varieties most common in Florida tend to look mostly like normal deciduous trees.
What's a conifer?
Fer decoratin' 'round Christmas-time.
California has plenty of conifers, the problem is he lives in LA, so palm trees are the only trees he knows.
Arin's turn: "Is it Florida? It's gotta be Florida."
>usually right
it's always florida
On a similar note to this, you guys should play "Where's the Airport?" I don't know if someone's made a map/website solely to play or if you just pick Random on Google Maps, but basically it'll drop you in the middle of nowhere, and you have to navigate your way back home by finding the nearest airport. You might be able to do 2 for an episode.
Such a hard game if you're unlucky but can be pretty exciting once you get close to a city
"those beautiful hanging trees"
Oh haha, those aren't hanging trees, that's kudzu, the invasive parasite vine which ultimately strangles trees to death
Exactly, it hangs the tree
Honestly, if the Grumps play this again on single player, I'd love to see them move around and work together in exploring the place to get the right answer. Not even bother with the challenge mode or making it a versus.
They kinda did it today
Arin, upon seeing an evergreen: "Must be the Northwest!"
Me, a Michigander surrounded by evergreens: 👁️👄👁️
i'm from maine and like same lmao
I thought that on the last one. Pines were short, lots of thick woods, and the color of the roads just SCREAM Michigan. Then I saw the MDOT sign and it sealed the deal for me
And when they talk about open Plains and fields, I feel the urge to remind them Indiana exists...
Literally same, in upstate ny
"It's a pine tree" *guesses the North*
Me: "It's a good thing you didn't get rural Florida then."
I’m curious as to what makes Arin so averse to moving from the starting position. I mean as the famous quote says: “It’s not cheating if it’s in the game,” so I wonder why he thinks it’s cheating
Cause he’s Arin, and we love him all the same
@@SatisfiedShark oh absolutely, we’ll always love our boys. It just makes me curious haha
Playing without moving around is one of the more hardcore ways people play this. Usually not first time players though 😅. I saw one mode of this where you have 10 secs, and you cannot move, zoom, or pan the view around. You literally just make a quick guess given the one frame you start with.
@@matthewgumabon7498 oh hell no. How even!?
@@gamingelementalist6725 You’d be surprised at how good you can get at geography if you actively try to study it. And even better if you have a lot of experience traveling around the world.
There are some tricks the the Geoguesser pros use that help them think lightening quick though.
You can quickly figure out which hemisphere you are in (north or south) by looking at the which direction the sun appears on the compass.
Now you got it down to half the map. So try to narrow down to a east or west.
If you see signs with languages, you can narrow down to countries that speak that language.
If you see plants, you can narrow down to few countries that match the climate and region where those plants grow.
If you see buildings and roads, architecture and layout are usually big hints on whether to look near cities or in countrysides.
But still, 10 secs with a random image (especially if it’s just grass and dirt roads) is still crazy 😂
Arin, 20 minutes ago: "I gotta stop going off of palm trees, that's what's wrong here."
Arin, now: "Oh, palm trees! This is definitely Florida."
12:47 Love the idea of a Google Streetview driver who wears the camera on his head as he goes in somewhere for lunch and a haircut and it's featured years later on a let's play
I watch grumps while I work and barely pay any attention, so imagine how far my wig flew when they said "Our Lady Mount Caramel" and I looked to my screen to find myself face to face with the same OLMC the nuns took us for religious retreat every year for 12 years. That basement was where I first realized I was gay. What a trip to see it here.
*Me, every time Arin guessed the PNW based on the trees:* _"That is not the PNW."_
there is only the pacific northwest, Florida and Ohio
@@Josh-qr9fo Don’t forget New England purely based on architecture!
Yeah, every time he said something like that, I thought the same thing
"It's the Pacific Northwest!"
_"It was not the Pacific Northwest."_
Arin: Palm trees are very telling.
Palm Trees: "No we ain't"
Palm Trees tell no tales…..
Right! I was like "Arin palm trees aren't exclusive to Florida. They can survive almost anywhere!"
I love that the one time there were no Palm trees he said, Florida...and was RIGHT.
(me, knowing they filmed the first and second episodes back to back): maybe they'll move this time.
Maybe if they come back to it. They will have learned they were allowed to move around the whole time.
@_ scüp yeah arin feels like its cheating XD
I was hoping they would have separated the two episodes and perhaps realized moving around some would be fine, but that doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately.
Love how they made it so much more difficult for themselves than needed (minimal moving, signage second to observation), and still did amazing.
Any other Minnesotans excitedly shout "St. Cloud!" As soon as that technical college popped up?
I don't know what you are talking about I would never be happy when minnesota is referenced.
Same! I'm so used to being ignored, even by a randomly generated algorithm, that I was surprised it popped up so close to home
As an SCTCC graduate who drove down that road 1000+ times I was not prepared
@@HollowLumi that's me every time I hear minnesota referenced. But then people make stereotypes and I ignore them.
I know, I was like "oh, I go there!"
"What car drove in here?" killed me
Oh look, it's another session of "Arin sees a vaguely tropical tree and declares everything to be Florida!"
Everywhere is Florida 2: It's Really Flat
"But this time he's right"
Granted, most of his guesses for Florida were right.
To be fair, he also thinks everywhere that has pine trees is in Seattle.
Also Arin: "Sees an Evergreen tree, must be Pacific NW"
As soon as I saw the "Adopt a Highway" signs and condition the road were in I was like "Yep, that's Michigan" lol
This evolving from a competition to just enjoying the game was a treat.
I love how GeoGuessr has a challenge mode for 2 player, but instead they keep picking single player with 5 locations to guess.
Its irritating me so bad lol
I'm wondering if it's something that's specifically for people on separate computers? I know I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt when I shouldn't lol but they've spent so much time looking at that screen, surely they've noticed it by now 🤦🏻♀️
@@carlinianam0s It is on separate computers, but I feel like they could set that up. They've done it for other vs matches before. But yeah, I suppose that could be the reason.
Welcome to another episode of "Judging by those palm trees, this is definitely Florida."

Dan: "Providence! No, wait, that's in Massachusetts."
Me: "This is literally Rhode Island erasure."
Rhode Island is just the sequel to Massachusetts tbh
Ah yes, Rhode Island, the Shrek 2 of states
Coming from the U.K. and living in Europe, it's amazing to me how much open expanse is in the states. So much room!
Please keep playing this!! It’s definitely up there in the “won’t get old” play it whenever category
Maybe if they start playing it right. It's already bordering on "getting old" territory as it stands...
For playing a self imposed "hard mode" I'm impressed with how well they did
they have done a lot of touring around the country, and between the two of them, they've lived in new england, the new york/new jersey area, florida, and california, so that covers a decent amount of the country lol. it really is just like the midwest that would be the most unfamiliar
is it really a hard mode though, even if they aren't moving, its USA only and they have traveled a lot.
@@KwehShiro USA is a massive country, one of the biggest in the entire world. Saying “it’s only the US” is akin to saying “it’s only the entirety of Europe”, because the entire continent of Europe is only somewhat larger than the Continental United States
They should totally do the Wonders map and see if they can even botch any of those ones up. I mean, could you imagine Arin getting the Eiffel Tower and being all like, "Getting a Russia vibe here".
I really want them to play the world map again and actually move around and read the signs, it’s not cheating Arin don’t worry about it, it’s how everyone plays this game
Arin: "There's evergreens, which means pacific north west even though evergreens are on every continent but Antarctica."
Palm trees: literally the same
Arin: FLORIDA!!!
I didn't know Florida was the only place on the planet that had palm trees
I really wanted it to be Hawaii once lol
well now you do.
Yeah, you can trust Arin. He one lived in a California neighborhood called Palmdale, so he should know all palms are in... Florida
And all Pine Trees are in the Pacific Northwest
Or “is naturally green” apparently
when St Cloud Minnesota came up and they thought it was Connecticut something in the back of my mind went "idk man it just feels like it's in Minnesota", and i had completely forgotten that one of the characters in How I Met Your Mother was from there so they say the name of it a shitload of times in the show and i guess it stuck somewhere deep in my subconscious.
As an Oregonian, the Pendleton one was KILLING me…. I may have yelled at my screen a little 😂 People don’t expect Oregon to have deserts, but most of eastern Oregon is desert. Fun fact. 😊
Danny: Providence? No, that’s Massachusetts.
Rhode Island: We will remember that.
we secretly annexed Rhode Island not long ago.
Grrrrrr. Daniel...
Me hearing Danny say this was very much the Michael Jordan “and I took that personally” meme
The best part is Providence was founded by a guy tired of the Masshole Puritans and their bullshit.
I was born in RI and my eye twitched at this
As soon as I saw the houses on stilts, I was like "Oh, it must be around Louisiana or the Gulf at least."
I was like, “that is Mississippi” and I was gonna guess Ocean Springs, so not far off!
@@kristenm.196 I guessed Biloxi, so I was damn near.
Same thing along with the crab shack
When I saw them I thought of Galveston, because if it’s not on the strand then it’s on stilts for Galveston
There’s some semi stilted houses in North Carolina too, or at the very least in the Outer Banks
Danny: "welcome to Worcester"
Me, knowing damn well its too nice to be Worcester after living there my whole life: 😂😂😂
i’d really like to see them play the ‘famous places’ map. me and my friends played it once and it was much more difficult than i expected
As someone who's always lived in the Midwest, I find it entertaining when they point out our "older buildings" when our new ones look the same way
@@GoldenPeaches At the end when it was Grand Rapids I felt a troubling mix of pride and shame. I was looking at the roads and immediately recognized it as Michigan based on how shitty they looked lol
That, and the MDOT sign afterwards confirmed it

I want them to do this again, but actually spend time moving around! I feel there's a lot of fun to be had here :)
The St. Cloud one for SOME reason made me SO mad. I was like 'IT LITERALLY SAYS ST. CLOUD RIGHT THERE. HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW ST. CLOUD MINNESOTA."

My brain: *the entire Little Shop of Horrors musical*

SAME! I’m from Alexandria! It’s so fun when it’s close to home!
I was even hesitant. "There must be another St Cloud" but nope

This is really cool. Thank you

Appreciating the editor keeping on putting smooth music!
Words can’t express how frustrating it is that Arin considers moving around and looking at signs “cheating”. It’s the point of the game. It’s how you play. The fact that you get more points the closer you get means you’re supposed to pinpoint where you are by looking for clues around your area. It’s the fun of the game
This game definitely doesn't need to be a Versus, it's hella chill to just watch you two work together and discuss where you might be.
