Arin's geoguessr skills tripled when he stopped assuming everywhere with palm trees is Florida.
I mean... It took seeing pines and palms literally yards from each other for him to rewire, but it did work.
Lol. But still thinks everywhere with pine trees is "north" when they exist literally everywhere
@@NWolfsson it’s wild because he grew up in the panhandle right? There’s pine trees and palm trees (sometimes right beside each other) everywhere there lmao
Ahaha😂
Ikr? lmao
They can grow anywhere lol, we have them in Northern Ireland ffs lmao
Arin: Pine Trees. Gotta be the North.
Me living in the South and staring at the 3 Pine Trees in our backyard: Huh.
I thought the same thing!
He was right though, it was north.
Florida to Texas has a ton of Pine trees and Oak. Arin didn't pay attention during class.
@Thadak1sm Well he did drop out so it makes sense
Ain't nothin' like some Tennessee pines!
you can hear Allie laughing when Arin is absolutely THROWN by the joint presence of a pine tree and a palm tree
Arin's brain: "Ah yes, clearly the north. Ah yes, clearly the south. ... Wait--"
@@robjohnsonmusicandgaming *sparks flying*
In conclusion, we must be snuggly on the equator :P@@robjohnsonmusicandgaming
I thought Allie wasn’t with them anymore?
@@Samcheese4 this video's from a year ago lol
Arin’s “Whelp” when it was just a boat in the middle of the sea was hilarious. What a terrible round from start to finish.
Stuff like that and the "stuck on a road in the middle of bumfuck nowhere with no civilization around for hundreds of miles" start points that Dan kept getting sttuck with (and that I am likewise cursed to get stuck with all the damn time) make me really wish Geoguessr had some kind of QA for their game. It's literally just a random chance of being put *anywhere* that Google has a streetview map of. In an earlier episode when they saw the "Bit of Denmark" restaurant but it was in California, Arin remarked that "they did that on purpose" like there's actual human beings choosing these start points, but there's not.
Arin truly gives a voice to those who are smooth brained at some things and an *absolute savant* at others 💪
I was looking for something along the lines of this and you hit the nail on the head!
Buddy a savant is that whole thing
For a brief moment his brain ripples into a rugose walnut, then instantly relaxes into a perfectly frictionless eggshell.
You almost gave the very definition of the word "savant". You could just say he is a savant.
For the record: Savant: a person who has an exceptional aptitude in one particular field, despite having a significant impairment in other areas of intellectual or social functioning.
why does everyone rag on arin
It was so surreal to see the grocery outlet and think “hey, that kinda looks like the Grocery Outlet near my house” and then hearing Arin guess my hometown 😂
I was in the 937 area code area in Ohio. It’s kinda fun when they are guessing near you.
In one of the episodes they literally spawned 5 blocks from my house
Did it used to be a Best Buy? Because that building shape screams Best Buy.
i lived out there as a kid, almost broke my neck with that swivel I did when he said oxnard.
yea they spawned on the next street over from me. It was wild
Just over here hoping Sbassbear has enough to go on with that "rubbing one off so you can go to work" masterpiece.
please i’d lose my mind i’m already going to think about this video forever
We have to get this clip to them ASAP, I bet the remix will fucking slap
SO FUNNY
Trust me, they'll have more than enough
nothing could have prepared me for that opener, I nearly snarfed
"Arin, please stop farting. I beg you." - Dan, creating the perfect Grumps Comedy Central special title.
Well what do you want him to do?!
@@johnangelle5975 Not
We want him to NOT lol
The Midwest is so distinct yet ambiguous at the same time. Please play more Geoguesser, it's so fun to play along!
Im from iowa. I took a shot n said iowa lol
when Arin complained about "crumbling infrastructure" because of the cracked roads, i was like "he's clearly never lived anywhere as cold as Minnesota" and then it was Minnesota. ice do be hard on the roads
The thing is you can immediately tell when it’s the Midwest but not what state in the midwest
I'm from Missouri and when he chose it, I was soo excited, but it ended up along the Mississippi River, on Illinois side.
Then Dan called it St. Louis and I was a bit heartbroken, but I understood.
I think it ended up near where Louisiana, MO was, but on the Illinois side.
@@bobcatbix eyy fellow iowan!
Greenland was a Danish colony until 1953 but is now a semi-autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark, who has a queen, not a king ATM. The more you know... ;)
Thank you for the Denmark update - I was considering doing one myself, as a Dane, but you said all I wanted to!
as part Greenlander i always get happy when i see greenland mentioned or shown
I never actually realized Greenland wasn't its own country. So I had no idea it belonged to Denmark like that. Very fascinating to learn that.
@@LordPichuPal I remember when we coloured maps of Canada in school there would always be Greenland there and it would say "Greenland (Denmark)".
Then why isn't it called a Queendom? Checkmate, atheists.
Reminder to everyone that when they first started playing this game, Arin tried to pinpoint his location based on the clouds and palm trees
Imagine if you played Geoguesser, and it started in, like, China, seems normal, until you realize each guess is getting closer and closer to where you lived until the last one is right outside your place
Then your power cuts out and you hear your front door open
the amazing geoguessr guy you're talking about is Rainbolt, please ask him to be on one of these episodes because he definitely would agree and it'd be funny
“Is it ever not Rainbolt?” 😄
Whoa, a hit comment
@@Lair swing and a hit!

I love the small internal-debate Arin has with himself when he sees pines and palms at the same time at 6:56
Ochre? Ombre?
Arin: No mountains, pretty flat
Also Arin: *circles the Appalachians, chooses Tennessee*
THANK you.
He went for "near Nashville", like Nashville isn't on a plateau, wew.
Also the snow damaged roads and he goes to the south lol
Arin has gone on tour across America multiple times and he still doesn't seem to realize pines grow pretty much everywhere in America 😂
I love the animation at the start! It's adorable
I want to see Ghoul Grumps and Jingle Grumps figures reused for more anachronistic holidays 😆 🎁
I had to go back when Dan said he never saw a little blue sign like that in front of a house and I yelled "THAT'S A FIRE NUMBER!!" they are used in rural townships to help find places if there is a fire.
I lived in a small town and saw them all the time when I traveled around.
Or a civic number, as I’m used to calling them in Eastern Canada. I grew up in a small place that is mostly countryside, civic numbers were common. But yeah, they’re used in rural homes, especially when on a large/long route with lots of land.
I feel like a house on fire is sign enough.
@@TheRealKopkip It probably helps if the fire is like, in some backyard or in the fields so to reach the fire you need to enter the right driveway or you'll be stuck.
@@TheRealKopkip It is in fact not
I love it when you hear allie faintly laughing in the background, please never take that out
Same. It adds...something. 🤔 I like it.
Seeing that seal that literally read 'Phillipines national railway' and seeing ariin highlight it and none of em bother to read it and still Managing to stumble into the correct answer was both infuriating and cathartic.
I almost had an aneurysm when he stared right at it and just moved on
I didn't see the sign. I only realized it was the Phillipines when I saw 'Duterte'.
It's like, just because it's on screen doesn't mean he's seeing it. Your eyes can't see the entire screen at once, you're always focusing on a specific point.
To be fair, it was small and VERY hard to read. Especially when you’re in a pinch. Also highlighting it made it even harder to read and it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re staring right at it. Their eyes were probably frantically looking elsewhere.
As soon as I heard Cabuyao city, I was laughing my ass off. I spent my first few years there. And I am still in Laguna.
@@dab7174 Brooo.. As a Filipino myself (although from Manila / NCR), I immediately knew that it was Philippines from the first frame because I remember passing by Cabuyao on a road trip once. Thank you for your presence. 😭
15:23 the scream that came out of me when you guys turned onto a school in my hometown I got so happy ❤ I love when you guys play this game cause I can sorta play along (and get everything wrong)
Awsome!

It's like it's something he figured out after the first couple episodes or somethng.
He's a learning super computer.
Imagine seeing your old high school on an episode of Game Grumps. 😅
Hartford Connecticut?
Whoa! Which one was it?
By the way, in that last one, the sign at 34:35, that they thought for a moment said "no queso", actually said "NO QUIERO CAMBIAR TU IDEOLOGÍA, QUIERO CAMBIAR MONTEVIDEO.", meaning something like "I don't want to change your ideology; I want to change Montevideo." Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay.
I'm guessing those pines in the first one were planted intentionally. There's some parts of the plains where the wind whips strong enough to just destroy an unprotected house, so they plant Norwegian pines to break the wind
They planted pines between the houses and the new highway they built next to one of my childhood homes, they said it was to help with the sound I think? And privacy, but they were obviously young saplings of maybe a couple of years, so they weren't quite working by the time I left
Yeah, that's 100% a windbreak
That intro had the same energy as "bienvenue powerbottoms!". Had me dying
🤣 for real.
Sounded like a Sonic the Hedgehog song.
'all those houses went up in less than two years!' yes and the roads cracked instantaneously
Dan going "IS THAT THE WAY IT WORKS??" at Denmark being soverign over Greenland when they literally had Hawaii in the same video is sending me
there's a bit of a size difference between Greenland and Hawaii.
@@miguelnewmexico8641 doesn't really change the fact that it's a colonized state tho! And the us has several other islands it's sovereign over, they just didn't get to buy Greenland
@@theLexisama It's kinda funny proportionally though. I get that the population is pretty small in Greenland, but the sheer size difference is nifty.
I love the stop motion animation at the beginning
It's adorable.
I'd love to see gamegrumps animated stuff in this style 🤣
This video pleases me. I’m going to dump some almonds onto the floor for you to eat later. I know how much you love floor almonds.
A tiny but busy ass road filled with tricycles (what Arin called rickshaws) is so comfortingly Filipino lol I love it
Ally talking about the King of Denmark and saying "Isn't it Hamlet's dad or whatever?" is underrated
I'm so proud of Dan for guessing Welsh.
Hell yes, I loved GG's geoguesser videos. Glad this is back
Second 🙋♀️
Dan is really showcasing his knowledge on northern Europe with his "Looks like Scandinavia, try Finland" and "Greenland isn't part of Denmark"
dat good ol american geographical knowledge
I mean Finland might as well be Scandinavian it was owned by Sweden for hundreds of years 🤷 the people also have very similar cultures and many Finnish people also speak a variety of Scandinavian languages
@@Miss_Kisa94 aren't they also like, literally next door to each other too? sharing a border? scandinavia was always more of that north-ish region to me. Is there a more specific way to describe it?
@@CouchParty yeah they're right next to each other
people use the nordic countries and scandinavia interchangeably
"There's a Jack in the Box"
"So that eliminates nothing."
Arin's right, those are only on the west coast. I have never seen one here on the east.
There's a few in Charlotte, NC. But I think that's literally the only place in the East that has them.
I love how for Cabuyao, the sign literally said "Philippine" on the blue seal where it started him 😹
Hey for anyone who was enjoying Arin playing around with the roads at 5:28 (and some before), I finally digged around enough to find 25202 on jackson lane in plainfield Illinois. That general subdivision-kinda area and adjoining streets have some of the jarring mismatched paved-vs-old road going on lol. But 25202 on Jackson is specifically about where he is at 5:28.
Also while wandering around I found a lovely sky in the pictures on nearby Rock Dr
I love it when there's an unexpected stop motion animation skit at the beginning of the episode! It's just so pleasant.
I love Dan for the little Belgium facts. As a Belgian it's nice to see one of the artists you follow actually knows how Belgium works.
I’m still convinced Arin is actually a mega genius but he hides it from us so we never know his true power. He could step on us all like a TRUE queen.
*had Spanish everywhere*
"It's Brazil!"
lol
Pretty funny, but also not surprising because it's common to mistake Spanish and Portuguese for each other if your a non native/educated speaker.
@@Meosychs Or forget which South American country speaks which language.
As a mail carrier I can say those mass produced cookie cutter houses are indeed build that fast. Where I work there was a large empty field and about two years later there was an entire suburb with like 20 houses
The middle school I went to was brand new when I started, the school went up in a year and within like three years there was a huge, new suburb across the street.
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THE GAME IN THE TITLE. Also the claymation in the beginning was so cute!!
Whoa! Strong start, and then they won their first comp!! I'm so proud
This series is up there in rank with Mario Maker and House Party to me. Pls do more
I enjoyed Dan's adventures into different dinosaur museums. You guys should do some sort of "guess that dinosaur" trivia, or do a list of your favorite dinosaurs! No one asks who's their favorite dinosaurs are anymore!
Ooh I want this as well! A great topic for those tier things!
I think my favorite moments of newer game grumps is when even Ally gets on on the laughs. Always a good time
Looking forward to the Sbassbear remix of Escape From The City with Arin's vocals
*Wow!* That second one. I was thinking like, _"God,_ this looks *a lot* like where I grew up." then they came across the area code and then I realize, *_"Oh god,_* this *_is_* the place I grew up."
And based off of how new that subdivision is, there is a nonzero percent chance that's where two of my cousins (and their families) recently moved in to.
Suffice it to say right now, *I feel weird.*
Same!
Greenland is in fact owned by Denmark, it's part of the Kingdom of Denmark. :) (also, we have no king, but a queen)
As an Australian, I truly love to hear my country described as an America Themepark
It's wild when it ends up being your area they're in
The agony I felt as Arin and Dan kept dancing around Czechia was like that time I passed a gall stone. Except this time I can eat ice cream right afterwards without giving my liver anxiety :D
I love that you guys learned claymation on the 10mph and now we see these from time to time as an intro. Dunno if thats by your hands but its fun to watch!
hehe, I got excited at the Maui one, I went past that resort on my way to and from work everyday along that whole side of the island when I lived there and I recognized it instantly. such a beautiful place.
Allie losing it in the background is always the best GG content.
Its JUST loud enough to hear and it brings me so much delight. I truly want a regular allie-guest grumps
@@captionhere19 Absolutely... and a great reason to return to Observation Duty
it is absolutely mind-boggling how Arin thinks pine trees only grow in the north
And also how he got it right everytime they got pines
especially since hes from florida... like I can walk outside and find a pine tree within minutes
There's quite a difference between what you're saying and making an educated guess because pine trees tend to grow in the north
I think he means those specific types of pine trees, because the ones that grow in the south look pretty different
Remember. He's from Florida, _almost _*_everywhere_* is *The North* for them.
I immediately knew around the northwestern part of Minnesota was the first one because we drove out that way to our lake cabin every weekend of the summer. The look of having fields on one side, a sparse treeline on the other, and the look, condition, and size of the road is all so familiar and exactly how it looks out there. That exact road they got placed on is probably only a few roads north of the one we drive.
i love that they guessed nebraska on the first one right after i said "this is nebraska as hell"
i mean it wasnt nebraska but it looks exactly like that
I need more Ghoul Grumps Valentine's Day shorts
On the second one when Arin started looking for mountains, I was like, "It's the Chicago suburbs, Arin, you're gonna have to lower your landscape expectations. A lot." 🤣
I couldn’t tell where in the Midwest it was. All our housing developments look the same 😂
@@ArmoredTarek Yeah, I only knew because I recognized the area code lol
Yay! More Geoguessr! These videos will never be boring. Awesome to see you love it as much as I do :D Wishing you guys a good 2023!
The little stop motion bits at the beginning make me smile so big because they're such a nice addition :D
Fun fact: Showing new people around in Miami Dade County is the Exact equivalent of having a bunch of people over to your house at the very last second and you haven’t cleaned your house in WEEKS and you’re hoping they dont notice 😅😅😅
I was not watching, just listening to the video at 4am. So when Dan randomly said my name at like 29:14 I literally jumped out of my chair. Got a geoguesser jumpsacre
6:55 it scared me how familiar yet so stranger looking these streets looked for me
When they got Markham, my first thought, as Arin said it was the most American thing he's ever seen, was "Oh that looks like Canada!"
630 area code is Illinois. No mountains, barely any hills, the southwest suburbs of Chicago.
NGL I was SCREAMING this at my monitor lmao.
Yes, how dare they not know what a specific area code is out of hundreds.
Perfect chance at a wolf job joke for Dan at the beginning
I grew up literally 10 minutes away from the 2nd one. So crazy to see my area code on grumps 😂
Ombré is colors blending into each other and ochre refers to either the impure iron ore that’s made into a pigment (which is always red or yellow) or the yellow pigment resulting from using ochre
That intro was the most adorable thing ever
Dan's hands in the claymation intro are the creepiest thing about the animation.
I love that you guys like stop motion so much! Such an awesome medium
These ads have essentially become cold opens for the episodes and I love how goofy they are 😂😂
I love how they immediately get planted in the absolute middle of nowhere on the first round, the most american plot of nothing you can find
Shout out to Allie for knowing her culture
Y'all crushed it!
Though my heard did break just a small bit when Dan straight up read Montevideo on a sign and they didn't pick up on it.
And then Arin was like "give me a sign!" 😂
0:50 alli's giggle is contagious
I always appreciate your editor's taste in chill music. 👍
We now have another entry to the list best Game Grumps cold openings.
Oh the dream of working with these guys to hear Arin's little songs to brighten my day
those people near Greenland! They're researchers! They have a whole section of their route on google maps, its really fun to look at. I also read that yearly? Denmark sends some military personnel to scout the coast of Greenland...just because? idk
These stop-motion animations fit you guys so well. Make one where Allie is like a bat or Medusa head floating by in the background laughing. XD
I'm glad they are hiring artists to do different intros. I love that about you all! Support the art community! Woo!
"Tabasco?"
"I wonder what comes from there"
If Dan was referring to the pepper, then yes, tabasco peppers are named for the Mexican state of Tabasco. Tabasco brand hot sauce, however, makes 100% of their sauce at Avery Island in south Louisiana.
31:50 "There's a King of Denmark?" Not right now, but Freddy will come to power in a couple of years.
Y'all are the best, thanks for all the laughs ✨
Arin: It gets hot here but also the trees are dying so... Missouri.
Me, a person from Missouri: Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
34:38 Dan said Montevideo! That’s Uruguay, they were so close 😢
I knew the last one was Uruguay as soon as I heard "Montevideo", you'd think I know that because of something logical like an interest in South America or something, but instead it's because of all the many people from Montevideo that I've previously added on Pokemon GO to get the Vivillon pattern for that region. I'm such a geek.
I'm sure everything they said about Australia definitely won't come back to haunt them when they come to visit in a few months.
630 is my area code! Woot!
I love that Arin gets these things in his head that he thinks are facts like “pine means north” when it’s useless as there are also many pines in the south
PLEEEEEASE add this to your regular rotation of wheel of fortune etc. I can’t explain why I love this game
The absolute WHIPLASH of cruising around checking out random places, and then YOUR OWN HOUSE shows up on GameGrumps
After going on tour, they’re only gonna get better at Geoguessr
one would hope 😭
The human hand putting the head back on the rig was very funny I like that
Those trees in front of the lone house on the first one are actually to block road noise.
