"Laplace's Angel" sounds like a name of a fractal lol. When I saw the title of this song for the first time, I was almost entirely sure that it must be a name of a fractal.
I have a character that’s been through absolute hell and lost his mind in the process, he turned out to be a villain and did multiple horrible things, but they all had a reason, it was never out of spite, never out of pure revenge, all of the things he’s ever done were to help himself or help others, and then, he started to regain his sanity a little bit, apologized for his actions and decided to kinda live in the shadow, isolate himself as a punishment. Some people didn’t think it was enough and so one of them decided to start torturing him mentally and physically every night for 15 years without anyone else knowing. Even then, after this person was stopped and everyone learned about the torture that the villain endured, they still viewed him as terrible and treated him like shit, never forgiving him for his previous actions. Now, an important detail would be that a lot of the characters that have been pushing him away and treating him like a monster have done worst at some point in their lives, and they were all forgiven although they didn’t face any sort of punishment. Gabriel (the villain) thinks it’s extremely unfair judgment but accepted his punishment nonetheless, but now, now that people are still treating him like he’s the worst person they’ve ever laid eyes on, he’s starting to lose his mind again a little, hence why I think this song is really fitting for him. The ‘’Am I really that bad?’’ getting more and more violent and desperate as the song progresses sounds like him genuinely asking if he’s bad when other people are worst and won’t acknowledge it, because, at least, he acknowledges HIS mistakes, he took the responsibility to distance himself, to punish himself, has never complained about his punishments, while others won’t even admit that they’re bad people. The ‘’if you were in my shoes, you’d walk the same damn miles I do’’ is basically because all of the shit he went through kind of made him do all of the stuff he’s done, he wouldn’t have turned out that way otherwise, and he’s always had reasons to be terrible, kinda like his path was written and how he react would be anyone’s reaction. Sounds like he’s saying that anybody else would’ve turned out crazy and done the shit he’s done if they had lived the shit he’s lived. I like how this song progressively gets more agressive because, at first, it sounds like he’s just trying to give excuses, it sounds like he’s trying to explain himself, but, as the song progresses, it sounds more and more like he’s realizing that he’s in the right, it sounds like he’s blaming others for their terrible behaviour towards him, sounds like he’s finally snapping.

Now we're singing
Ooh
Whatever you think of me
If you were in my shoes
You'd walk the same damn miles I do
We're only tuning to the tone of the bell curve now
Ask not for whom it tolls
But with my head up in the clouds I can see so much ground
And from up here you look like ants in a row

It only takes a reason to kill

Difference twixt fate and free will is whether you're singing
Ooh
Could you take a look at me
Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad?
Now we're singing
Ooh
Whatever you think of me
If you were in my shoes
You'd walk the same damn miles I do
Oh-oh
Right
So if you wash your hands of where you've been until you flood the second floor
Neatly fold your skeletons but still can't shut the closet door
The only ones in need of love are those who don't receive enough
So evil ones should get a little more
You
Could you take a look at me
Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad
And now we're singing
Ooh
Whatever you think of me; if the shoe fits would you walk that mile
You could put it on the other foot, it's the same size
You
Could you take a look at me
Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad
We're singing
Whatever you think of me
If you were in my shoes
You'd see I wear the same size as you

@@thilsiktonix bc some people rather read them in comments so they can go back without changing their place in the song. Just bc you don’t need it doesn’t mean other people don’t.

Will wood is a absolute icon and a genius
For the first time, UA-cam's algorithm is working 👌
This is really well written and composed perfectly. Bravo 👏🏻
listening to this song every time i think of people who victim blame
New favorite song unlocked:
So my english class is revising blood brothers and I feel like this man right here would absolutely kill it as the narrator
Every song I've heard of his goes so hard.
The saxophone In this is Absolutely amazing
Not just bc it's lyrical genius, i also love the song cause it is very Disney villain style✨
Is it just me, or does Will Wood’s music resonate heavily with individuals with BPD?
It generally resonates with mentally ill

Crazy and dark beats to dance cackle and be evil to.

I love Will Wood. Great lyricist.

"If you were in my shoes you'd see I wear the same size as you" My god that's a good line
If all I am is an animal driven by the impulses of electrochemical stimulus in my brain then my faults are no more my fault than anyone else's. I am saved by my lack of free will in this way, my sins are absolved for how am I to blame for God's grand design. The angel of determinism
actually, no current and credible Physics data to date can say with certainty that determinism is fully true...that would be huge news. It isn't. Besides, what about qualia? What people think of themselves often adds value to their lives. You don't have the right to tell them who they ARE.
@@PhoenixProdLLC the only disproving of determinism that quantum mechanics has found is that when trying to observe particles small enough photons have to hit them thus changing their behavior. The core idea of Laplaces demon is based on a supposition that suitably intelligent being able to observe everything and predict everything. The only thing that's changed is it must also be able to observe without interacting with small enough particles. Plus string theory and quantum mechanics are incomplete theories anyways, they hardly account for gravity and having 95% of the universe being "dark" ie "we don't know what it is" they've hardly disproven determinism.
But either way the song is about determinism and Laplace so the point still stands
Sei mai morto in un incubo
Have you ever died in a nightmare
Mi sono svegliato sorpreso che non ti fossi guadagnato il tuo destino
Woke up surprised you hadn't earned your fate
Ti sei mai sentito come Atlas, hai buttato le spalle all'asse e
Have you ever felt like Atlas, threw your back out on the axis, and
È crollato e ha buttato via il pianeta
Collapsed and threw the planet away

Everyone's just blood in an ice tray
Un vampiro che raccoglie fiori al sole
A vampire picking flowers out in the sun

LOVE THIS SONG
I always saw this song as chastising humanity for trying to plug the holes in our morality and animalistic nature with science, morality and psychology, and how despite all our tidy categories and study, we can never really put down the fact that we’re animals that act rashly “neatly fold your skeletons you still can’t shut the closet door”
i have literally been looking for what the background voices have been saying for MONTHS NOW. i thought it was another language bruh
ON GOD. THE ONLY COHERENT THING I COULD MAKE OUT FROM IT WAS THE PART WHERE IT SAYS HOSPITALS 😭
Possibly a hot take:
This song has the same vibe as How Bad Can I Be.
You're right but it's a terrible and awful truth 😭
Except it's written better and not a poor excuse to cut out a better song (see: Biggering)
