Christopher Cross has a beautiful voice. As you'll find out here. His "Ride like the wind" is exceptional.
Yes , RLTW is fantastic too
One of the most soothing songs of the 70s.
Reminds me of simpler times, as a young kid. Thanks mom.
After a stressful day at work and drive home listening to this gem you are relaxed, ready for a good meal and bath and slide gently into a deep sleep. That's the magic of this simple tune imo. ❤
Yep I remember this voyage back in the day
When músic was real músic the great voice of MR Cristopher cross
I remember when Christopher Cross's first album came out in 1979 & we all bought a copy. The whole album was good with one hit after another including "Ride Like The Wind", Sailing", "Never Be the Same", "Say You'll Be Mine" etc. He won 4 Grammy Awards for it. He released a 2nd album in 1983 with a few hits on it such as "Think Of Laura" & "All Right". But sadly after that his fame declined. Success came quickly, all at once & then suddenly faded. Too bad as he was very talented.
Brings back so many memories, was in 10th grade. I have and love this album from Columbia Record Club of course lol.
Yes!!!!!!
Chris is still performing.. just so many people don't know he's still around..
First album I ever bought with my own money! I was 10. I made my parents let me stay up to watch The Midnight Special! Good times…
_Vinyl!_
The best!
One of the best songs of all time. A classic.
Christopher Cross had a voice that was both smooth and powerful, he's not whispering... he's belting it out.
Christopher Cross (1984) and Billie Eilish (2020) are the only two artists to win all four major awards at the Grammys. Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year.
Those were the days of such beautiful music.
All Time Favorite!!!
You need to do Christopher CROSSES song NEVER BE THE SAME and RIDE LIKE THE WIND
One of best! 1980 song of the year , record of the year, album of the year!
Sooo much good music, I pray this will never go away.
Today's music just doesn't do it
My daughters six, sometimes I put this song on and we close our eyes and pretend we’re sailing. After the songs over she tells me what she pictured. It’s magic.
Aww, you two will love "Ride Like the Wind" promise!!
He hit us where we needed it!!
Pure, raw, clean and fresh.
Just like you two!!
One of my other YT's met Brother Christopher Cross last year!!
Yes, more please. 👍🏽❤
Check out Ride like the wind. Background vocals by Michael McDonald
Arthur’s Theme from the original movie Arthur is really good. He’s also a very nice person.
" Arthur's Theme " and " Ride like the Wind " are a must ❤️❤️
I remember asking my mom how do you get caught between the moon and New York City? LOL 😂
Wow just wow
He was a musical genius, he was tapped to play guitar for Steely Dan too and they only messed with the absolute best musicians
Love Christopher Cross ❤️♥️
He’s awesome, and to keep with the sailing theme you should listen to Enyah “Orinoco Flow” Beautiful 🌈🌌
Ahh Christopher Cross. He was huge back in the day. He has so many wonderful songs. 💙💙
This song has been a fav of mine since the day I heard it . It is so peaceful and has this some sort of calming effect on you. He is a great artist.
CHRIS stands alone in his sound...soooooo smooooth
I love Christopher Cross! Ride Like The Wind is my favorite.
Great talent. Ride like the Wind. Is a banger with Michael McDonald doing back up vocals. ✌️😎
1 of the greatest songs ever recorded n 1 of my top all time favorites! Its absolutely perfect!
I love Never Be The Same by Christopher. It's one of my favorite songs. Arthur's theme is another good song by him
Christopher Cross has an amazing voice - pure talent. Thoroughly enjoy him.
That guitar intro sets such an amazing vibe for this song, and then his voice kicks in and you just immediately mellow out...
This song was my go to song. It helped me during some difficult times. I was a young man back then. Tough times and even tougher choices. Thank very much for playing this work of art.
Louis Irizarry:🙏🏽☝🏾🙏🏽
GREAT SONG.Remember hearing this as a kid, never forgotten it since. When you listen to it puts you in a peaceful state,I think we need peace of mind these days.Don't you???
This song is so relaxing 😎. You can feel like you are on a boat on a beautiful day relaxing with the wind in your hair 🥰
He’s always s had a beautiful voice ❤ I was a kid when this came out.
This is on my pool playlist(Yacht Rock) for the summer.I float around on my float with my drink and pretend I`m sailing :) Keep On Rockin'
He was awesome. Makes me miss my childhood.
Christopher Cross - Phenomenal music and great person- he reached out to Jamel while getting over Covid, last year I think- He’s already been to their concert and met Christopher and the band- point being, he’s a fantastic, humble person- 🙂💖💙👍 And Michael McDonald has sung back up for Christopher-among MANY other greats!
Jamel was soooooo happy and honored to meet him!! I follow his channel too!! 🙂
Have always liked this song. It has such a peaceful feeling. I remember when it came out. In a "water town" such as Baltimore, and Annapolis, "Sailing" is perfect.
Goes well with the "quiet storm genra" the r&b radio stations promoted years ago...
The memories you kids keep bringing up. As my door is closing it's nice to hear songs I remember growing up when things were simple. God Bless you dear people.
One of my all time favorite songs. Also love "Never Be The Same" :)
It really transports you and paints a picture in your mind, doesn't it? No wonder he won five Grammys.
Great song. A classic. Ride like the Wind is also extraordinary. Both very very popular for CC in the early 80 s. Great memories driving down to Key West then in my car. Wiindows open, radio blaring.🙂👍
I was 19 when his first album came out (1979). What a fabulous voice he has, unique! The band were brilliant too!! xx
Hi guys o love Christopher cross beautiful voice
80`に生きて、最強な音楽ライフですよ。
This song has always been special for those of us who feel drawn to the sea. Another beautiful song that makes people long for the ocean is "Cool Change" by The Little River Band". Definitely worth reacting to.
💙☮💙
I sh*t you not, the first time I ever herd this song was the spring after I got a sailboat for charismas. It was nothing to special. Called a Snark, it was just a Styrofoam hull in a yellow plastic sheath, single mast lateen style rig, but it was a perfect first boat for a kid and so fun. I got to take it out for the first time when my dad was meeting the crew of his fishing boat to start getting ready for summer Salmon season in Alaska. I was out having a blast listening to music and this song came on and after I got the lyrics, I was in love with it. How appropriate. :)
So beautiful.So peaceful.Tranquil.
"Think of Laura", is one that comes to mind.Christopher has quite a few good ones."Ride Like the wind" is more upbeat.
Oh yes, Think Of Laura. Excellent song ❤️
A great song. Another gem of a song with a sailing theme is “Cool Change” by the Little River Band. I guarantee you will love it.
Yessssss!
OMG! Such a beautiful song. It definitely paints a picture.
Iconic song....brilliant artist.
This song is on my short list of songs I listen to when I've had a crappy day. Another song on my list is "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. 💜
Same. I also have James Taylor’s ‘up on the roof’ and ‘sweet baby James’ on my list.
Just one of my all time favorite songs of any pop genre. Ever. Listen to Christopher doing "Ride Like The Wind" next please. If you've ever been on a boat, with that canvas full and flapping in the wind, the salt air, and the smooth glide of the keel through the water you'd understand this song better.
This song takes me back at a time in my life of disappointment and indecision, in 1980, gave me calm and peace. Cross won 5 Grammies for this.
This song has very specific memories and emotions for me…..of when my high school gf and I would drive around in my car, on a date or just being together…often after a band activity…usually at nighttime….and then park somewhere….talking, etc. This one of the songs that would play on the radio and be the soundtrack to our growing relationship, though we ultimately broke up.
Over 40 years later, after running into each other a few times the first few years and then living very separate lives…we are now married…and the loves of each other’s lives.
This and many other songs still bring back those feelings, to this day!
I'm amazed and excited to see another one of the hidden gems recognized and crossing cultures! Thank you both for really listening, not just hearing, what I hear! I can't be tied down to a genre in music either!
Ride like the wind is killer ! You will love it
Absolutely beautiful. "Ride Like the Wind" is another fantastic song
He's got such a great voice, love his music 🎵🎶
love this song! so laid back can easily fall asleep to this, in a positive way of course!! great reaction guys keep up the great reactions ; )
This song is haunting to me- A summer song. Takes me right back there
I love Christopher Cross. This is my favorite Christopher Cross song. He has a lot of other songs too.
When I was a kid I was at the store and I was looking for the 45 record of Come Sail Away by Styx, though I didn’t know who sang it at the time I just knew the song and all I could find was this song and I thought maybe it was it, any way, let’s just say I wasn’t upset about it! Ever since then I loved Christopher Cross😊
His debut album took 5 Grammys in 1979. Sailing was a #1 top Billboard hit followed by another #1 in 1981 "Authurs Theme" which starred in the movie "Authur" with Dudley Moore...... a must see. "Ride Like the WInd" was also on his debut album with backing vocals by Michael McDonald. That song reached #2 on the Top Billboard in 1980. His music has a way of transporting you to a very peaceful place and you find yourself wishing it never ends. Christopher contracted COVID-19 in 2020 that nearly took his life, but he finally triumphed over that horrible virus that took so many lives. Great reaction, TY.
my favorite song by Christopher cross
Christopher's songs are mesmerizing and soothing and just takes me away to magical places. Love your reactions Shawn and Mel. Keep 'em coming. 🙂
first words out her mouth... " Paradise " !..... some people just present way more then most
If you do another Christopher Cross song, you'll like "Ride Like the Wind." Thanks Guys.
Sweet and peaceful perfectly described this song.
When he first came onto the scene back in [79-80]. His debut album went triple platinum and won the Grammy Awards for best album and best new artist in 1980. He also won the Academy Award for best song for his hit "Arthur Theme" in [1981]. The song was written by multi gold winning record writer & producer Burt Bacharach and Carol Bayer Sayer.
This my favorite song
Christopher Cross great song he is a very good singer too have not herd him in long time.
It's like a prayer isn't it?
Yacht Rock is amazingly relaxing and Christopher Cross creates different eclectic sounds and allows your mind to rest and focus. I'm a Cardiac Surgeon and have this song in my playlist when operating. Excellent presentation.
OMG I love this song! Don’t you wish kids these days would make GOOD uplifting music like this again?
Just a wonderful melodic song. The whole album is amazing.
Love these guys. When the music clicks, their faces light up and they realize and are ready for a journey.
Loved him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out Christopher performing "Ride like the Wind" with Michael McDonald doing back-up vocals. Poor Chris had Covid, but he has recovered and is performing again. Love Chris's music; he is a gem. xx
Awesome song, in the 1980s. Good old days. I miss those days.
This is my favorite Christopher Cross number. ⛵💚
I agree, love this song… thank you for playing it..
A man of many talents.
Love this song...so soothing after a crappy night at work🤣 thank y'all 🤗
I was 21 in the summer of 1980 and this song made life so enjoyable.
He won a Grammy for this and was widely acclaimed and praised. If this doesn't move you, you have no soul.
Classic 70's soft rock period
This guy was a hitmaker…And that was live.
Christopher Cross put the mellow in great music.
I was at UT Austin just after Cross departed. He and his music were famous at the Longhorn campus. This song, I was told, was about sailing on nearby Lake Travis where I swam and camped with friends all through those college years, 1980-1985. This song takes me back there with its wonderful, beautiful and soothing refrain.
This song was and remains everywhere. How does one reach adulthood and never hear?
Christopher Cross is the poster child for the “Yacht Rock” genre
But he’s a good rock guitarist. His image put him in a box.
you mean soft rock era
Beutifull soulful the music is smooth gos to your soul 😊
I'm born and raised in Hawaii. When this song came out... oh man it fit my life, heart and soul. I need to go back and visit the islands again. Wish I knew how to sail❗️
✌🏽🤙🏽
One of those songs that sends your spirit soaring
Always transports me back to my teenage summer nights.
Christopher Cross - Think of Laura. Makes me cry.
one of my fave for ever
