We almost lost Christopher Cross to Covid. Just saw a video last week where he talked about how the virus really messed him up. Glad he's doing better, a great artist.
It's even better if you close your eyes and listen to it. However, I love when it pops up on my iPod while riding my motorcycle, on a beautiful clear day across the country side. Any tensions melt away.
Absolutely!!!! Absolutely!!!! You are not alone!!!! Because it is talking about the "AFTER LIFE"....a lot of people played this song at Funerals. I would like this song played for my Funeral.
Such a classic song and album. It deservedly won all four major categories of the 1981 Grammys: Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song and Record of the Year. Wish we still had stuff like this today.
I listened to this song a lot when I stayed in a shelter for a month and had a major freak out because of the violence, abuse, and neglect, I had had happen from when a toddler and into after was grown. I had repressed memories of a lot of it and so when I started remembering it it was so extremely frightening and the fear of 'alone' extreme. There were panic attacks which were also frightening. Thank goodness that time is long gone. This song was soothing while I was in the shelter.
I was in 9th grade, staring out window wanting to be old enough to travel. Record playing white noise and rain outside. I am 57 now and I’ve sailed many times now. And yeah the song will be played. I’m also an artist (famous in my own mind) and song will be playing as I paint the canvas. ❤ Much love to Christopher Cross he lives in my home state of Texas.
I swear, this song , and “Southern Cross” by Crosby stills and Nash, are the two songs I would recommend anyone listen to who wonder swhat it’s like to sail on the ocean. I have been blessed to be able to sail from Gulfport, Mississippi and Gulf Shores, Alabama to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Belize. My God. Imagine…a nighttime quietness broken only by the sound of waves all around your, lying on your back, feeling the rock of the waves as you look up at a night sky that fills your vision endlessly and that is so full of stars you wonder how you could possibly have never seen this before. It is peace. It is tranquility. It is a calmness of mind and spirit that cannot be replicated by any other experience. It is a feeling of connection to everything and a feeling of individual wonder simultaneously. I honestly don’t have the words to adequately describe an experience that you will never forget, that will change you, uplift your soul and make you one with the vastness of the night sky while reminding you that you are simply an observant, small, single consciousness…if you ever have the chance, go. Do it. It will change you forever. And whatever stressors or worries you have…they will be made insignificant. For the rest of your life.
Christopher Cross Shock the World by winning like four or five Grammys that year that this album came out if you research the rest of the artists were just blown away because they thought they were going to win but this album just destroyed everyone because there was so many hits on it including the theme song for movie Arthur. Btw love your little Bobby ponytails above your head so cute!. Too bad you weren't near Toronto Canada I'd love to take you out for a nice hearty meal my love..... If you look at my picture behind me that's Google Ontario. Before working at Google I was the lead singer of a band for over 25 years play it every damn freaking s*** hole of the Tri-Cities. It just wasn't a good feasible way to make a living although it was fun for a Time. I'm just listening to you talk and I'm from Canada and it's like you would be talking a totally different American language if we were ever to talk play I don't know how to explain it it's like black American gangster or something... I'm trying to picture talking to a girl like that on a date and it would just be hilarious, wouldn't you agree?
He was the first person to win all four major Grammy Awards in the same year. (Album, Song, Record, Best New Artist). Billie Eilish this past year is the only other one to accomplish this feat.
Christopher Cross another great 1970's artist that created some amazing music. Check out the song by Cristopher Cross featuring Michael McDonald called, RIDE LIKE THE WIND. This song won't disappoint.
Reminds me of my neighbors best friend lived in so cal. I was from No Cal and visited her. She was a brunette beauty and horse lover and cowgirl in Orange County or so. She made the mistake of asking me if I want to go to the horse show or other. I said lets go to Dana Point and rent a 25-30 foot sail boat and go sailing. I never sailed such a large boat on the ocean before growing up on a lake in MA. She even went top less and the seas was around four feet and wind around 15 knots. I had the time of my life... After she was mad I didn't go to the horse rally and took me to the Orange County airport to fly back to San Jose. Too bad she was so hot and told her friend I had attributes of a horse. ha
That's exactly what it is. I had one for 22 years but I had to sell it to help pay medical bills when I was having a lot of medical problems (4 heart attacks). I've played guitar since I was 12 years old (I'm 53 now). I still have a few guitars though but the Stratocaster had a special place in my heart.
@@davids.9072 I play mostly acoustic stuff now but i play everyday many times a day!! If there's nothing to do i pick up the guitar and loose myself for an hour or so.. :) keep playing Mate.
OMG !!!! This brings back so many memories of my childhood... My Mom turned me on to this. She would be doing things around the house and had this HUGE entertainment BOX. This box was perty amazing actually, it looked like a wooded box approximately 3-4 foot tall and a lil bit wider and made of wood. You would have to open the lid to reveal what was inside and what’s it’s purpose was, a hidden gem. It had everything, for the times. It played records, both sizes, 8 Track player, and the Radio. That’s what ya saw when ya opened the lid, no room to store anything. All this stuff sat at the top of the box. Underneath all that was the speakers, which ya could see, I guess that’s why it was so big and looked like furniture. It was really loud and when Mom played it, She RoCkEd the house. My favorite was when she just let the radio play. I can’t remember the radio stations call letters, But I do remember waiting for the weekend to hear Casey Cassum’s (spelling is wrong I’m sure, but that’s what it sounds like) ionic Top 40 Count Down. Omg... I would get so excited to hear it. This is one of those songs I would hear and is probably one of those songs that made me fall in LOVE with Music. Your Killing me Gurl... Wow... Thank You for the flash back... This is one of those songs that regardless of what Genre of music is your Go Too, This song transcends across the board. I have found that great music does that and the fact of your interpretation of it lets me know I was right and so was everyone involved with helping Chris make his music.
Chris is a great guitarist , here he's playing a double neck guitar. the upper neck has 12 strings for a fuller more melodic sound , the bottom is a regular 6 string guitar. there are other dbl neck artists, Michael Hedges ,Calum Graham to name 2
I know it's a double neck not sure of the brand but the eagles guitar player has one in hotel California and Jimmy Page also plays a double neck guitar and stairway to heaven
Jayy, If you get the chance, listen to TIME. by the Alan Parsons Project? One night they were having a documentary about Dorothy Stratton. She was the 25th Playboy girl on the 25 anniversary. At the end they played Time by the APP. The song is an absolute gem. They were playing this song with old movie clips when she was a little girl. She was from British Columbia, Canada The song is absolutely beautiful, just sayin'!😉

Christopher Cross is the rarest of performers. His debut was so successful there was no way he could ever live up to it. He possesses one of the most unique, recognizable voices that his original short lived success (at the very top) still lives on today. Jayy, your observance about it being a "goodbye song" is very perceptive, never thought of it that way, but I get your vibe :)
Christopher Cross is the king of chill. Even his upbeat stuff is super smooth. Great reaction.
Such a soft voice for such a big guy.
Every time i hear this song it give me goosebumps
It’s beautiful.
Arthur's theme...and ride like the wind are also amazing by him x
The movie Arthur from 1980 is one of the best comedies of all time.
I agree that Arthur's theme and the movie are amazing
I thought that's what it's from. Thank you...

One of the most beautiful, serene melodies I think I’ve ever heard.
