If this song doesn’t relax you, there’s something wrong. Christopher Cross is such a good dude too.
The only way this song can cause stress is if its interrupted...
@@navbuoy Like when they stop to comment? hahaha
You know wassup 💯💯😌😌😫😌🧘🏾♂️🧘🏾♂️🧘🏾♂️
I don't get how he is more popular now. His voice is like a mushroom in a cloud.
@@bongobongo985Because he’s a great artist and an even better person.
Hard to go wrong with Chris Cross. My faves are: "Ride Like The Wind," "Think Of Laura," Arthur's Theme"
Top 3 fer sher!
Yeah Arthurs theme is my favorite
FYI to the Gen Z, 'Arthur's Theme' is not from the cartoon. It's from a movie in 1981. Might be a little confused when you see a drunk brit in a limo and not a cartoon aardvark.🤷♂️✌
Definately Arthur's Theme
Arthur’s Theme is a great song, but I was pulling for Endless Love to win the Best Song Oscar. But Arthur’s Theme won.
Oh my. What a sound journey. Takes me back and reminds me of how easily I fell in love with this song back then.
The very definition of the Yacht Rock genre
This song to me is always a peaceful moment of tranquility.....
Brings tears to my eyes. I’m so thankful he’s still with us after he almost died from Covid in 2020. Like so many others his loss would’ve been devastating.
He and Billie Eillish are the only two to win all 4 major Grammy awards in one night. (song, record, album, new artist)
I float on a cloud when I hear this.
Christopher Cross came down with COVID at the beginning of the pandemic and almost died from it. While he was recovering from that he contracted Guillian-Barre Syndrome which left him somewhat paralyzed and he recovered from that! He's been back in the studio to record new songs. I love his "Ride Like the Wind."
I was 7 when this was released. It came out at a time in my life where everything was perfect. The very next year, my life spiralled when my parents divorced, domestic violence etc. Now at 50, I'm a cardiologist and this song has always calmed my soul and allows my mind to rest. Thank you for posting this, it's greatly appreciated.
Awesome story. 80’s music prevails.
Awwww! God bless you! I too escape with this song 😊
can I ask you a question? Im a bit overweight and the other day I went running with my daughter. First time i've run in about 3 years. I have had a missing heart beat since then. It will beat 4 or 5 times then skip. What should I do?
Hello Squad I have the awesome pleasure of knowing Ms Diane Peters the mother of Ms Julie Peters who sings background for Christopher in the states during his 40 year tour! And you are correct seeing live performances is the best! Guess what he still sounds ext the same saw them in Cincy this past weekend! ❤️ thanks for featuring this artist! Btw we were the only black ppl in audience but who cared I Iike this artist! Always have❤

I could not keep it dry when i heard this song for the first time i love this music its like magic
Aside from making great, tasteful music, Christopher Cross is one of the real good guys in American music.
A similar song to this is the song "Cool Change" by Little River Band.
It has to be the original band though.
I was 18, just graduated high school and was heading to basic training when Christopher Cross released this song.. even to this day, at 59 yrs old it is one of my all time favorite “relaxing” songs. Fact: Christopher Cross is a big man and people couldn’t believe this voice could come from such a large man when this song was released.
He seems a lot taller than 6'2"
His best one, to me. Easy listening and sweet. Little River Band ‘Cool Change’, ‘Happy Anniversary’, ‘a long way there’
Another great song.....also America "Ventura Highway" 🕊️
Cool change is amazing.
Yes! Do Cool Change and Ventura Highway!
@@bethshadid2087 oh yes!!! Sister Goldenhair……
Cool Change is just an incredible track.
*When this song first came out on the radio, everyone loved the song and Chris voice. When it came out on MTV people couldn't believe the voice matched the person, and it nearly derailed his career.💯%*
He wrote the song, too. I believe he won a Grammy the same year he came out with this song. The guy is an amazing talent.
He won all the Grammy's that year. Respect.
Amazing! He has a ton of great songs and I'm not a big fan of jazz but "Old days", "Arthur" & "With me now" are great underrated songs. I'm sure he has more. I didn't know he also made Ride like the Wind . Christopher Cross is a legend!
Nothing else sounds like his music! so unique! He is totally one of those one of a kind artists!
to be slow dancing with the love of your life on the open deck of a ocean liner with the stars and moon above
Gotta love that "yacht rock" sound of the late 70s/early 80s. Christopher Cross was the king of this genre. So smooth, so relaxing! Check out "Arthur's Theme (The Best That You Can Do)", "All Right", "Never Be the Same" and "Think of Laura". Every song's a vibe!
Love Think of Laura!
Remember that “Think of Laura” was for “Laura Spencer’s character in General Hospital. This was the era that you didn’t miss your soap! I got introduced to it I. The 4th grade at the baby sitters after school! The original cliffhanger! Luke and Laura!
I've never heard the term "Yacht Rock" before reading the comments section here. How is it any different from soft rock?
You forgot the big one!
@@moonpie4763 I believe he actually wrote it for a sadder real life event that touched his girl friend at the time😢.....
One of the most relaxing songs I have ever heard. Feels like I've been transported to an oasis and don't want to leave.
His other top 3 hit was "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)"
That was a really good song. Not that common for a movie title theme to be that good, in my opinion.
This man has a lot of great songs like "Old days", "Ride like the Wind", "Arthur", "Roberta" & "With me now."
I found him because of Casey Kasem when he was on the radio. I'm an 80s baby. I used to fall asleep to this song.
A Timeless Masterpiece. Sailing ⛵️ is incredible
This is such a beautiful and relaxing song. Such a vibe. 💕
You can almost feel the wind in your hair and see the sun sparkling on the lake.
Beautiful voice and instruments.
Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤❤ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Recorded and released in 1979 Its 70s Amber
Sailing!!! Yes!!! I love this song so much!!!
I've listen to this song a thousand times.
If you were a young person today, and you didn't already know the music of the 70s, you probably wouldn't think of this as being a hit on rock radio. But it was. :)
Rock?
@@michaelasay8587 Radio was Eclectic then. It wasn't segregated out into groups.
@@michaelasay8587 we called it "soft rock" although chris called his songs "pop n' roll."
It was also called "Yacht Rock."
@@marneebragg9839 yacht rock was a term that only came about in the 90s. afaik, before that there was only soft rock.
He has a wonderful voice.
Soo smooth. Take us away....
It's not far to never never land...
Holds a special place in my heart.
Kids this pure talent he is so calming
Ride Like The Wind is absolute fire....!!!
This has got to be the most chill and hypnotic song ever. The Grammy academy agreed and awarded it song and record of the year for 1980, oh and it went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100
Album of the Year, too!
So happy you reacted to this song. I have always liked Christopher Cross' music. He fought his way through a tough battle with covid and I am so very thankful that he is still here with us. Thanks for your reaction guys. Take care and be well. Peace.
My favorite song ever.
Damn nostalgia, I could cry for hours listening to this song and remember my youth.
Three Dog Night "Out In The Country"...A MUST HEAR Classic.
Picture if you will: The kids are in bed, you're sitting beside your partner outside on a warm moonlit summer night, favorite beverage in your hand, a gentle breeze rustling the in the leaves and this song plays. That was one of those little 'perfect moments' where the rest of the world just melts away and you 'sail away' on a sea of bliss. It's been over 25 years, but that memory is still crystal clear in my mind and I re-live it every time I hear this song!
This song is so beautiful it brings a tear to my eyes. ❤
For another amazing ‘easy listening’ song, try “I go crazy” by Paul Davis, released in 1977. I recently heard it and my entire childhood came flooding back…
Ahhh Paul Davis was so incredible... I Go Crazy still gives me chills and hits my heart.
That's a great recommendation.
I totally agree.
One of my all time favorite songs. I would love to see them react to that.
Oh yes, this song, so much!
Love "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)"!!! It touches the soul.
Love this song brings me back to when I was 15
My Husband was in the Navy and We both use to sing this song. One time he was out to sea for 10 months. This song bring back so many memories. That 10 month cruise was the worse. I had just had my baby boy and he was 2 months old when his his Daddy went out to sea. My husband miss so many milestones that 1st yr. Also I had a 15 months old baby girl too. But Love kept us through all those hard times and made our Love stronger.
Hes great luv his music this so smooth relaxing 😅
This and John Denver's Calypso really gives me the feeling of being out on the water. Goosebumps.
This song always reminds me of a summer Sunday afternoon by the shore. Sun shining on the water and sailboats gliding through that water!
You will love his song “Someday”.
This song has always made me feel like I'm actually onboard a sailboat from the very beginning, the words and melody transport you through the song. Love his voice
It's so true because it's such a good song and my friend went out sailing and Lake Tahoe and we put this song on and we just happen to be sailing and it was just beautiful beautiful day beautiful song
It's like sailing on the water - exactly that very mood encapsulates that and the music washes and ebbs and flows just like water!
He wrote it about the time when he was going through an emotionally difficult time and these sailing times as a teenager with a friend who was like an older brother got him through it. I've always felt the struggle and sadness in that song. I don't know if you've done 'Arthur's theme' from the film 'arthur' but he won an award for it I think. Its one of his best.
Yes, but from the Original movie from 1981with Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli, Not the remake!! 😊
@@ninaleo37 And not from the TV show Arthur as another music reactor thought, lol.
This song makes Christopher Cross "Captain" of the "Yacht Rock" music genre.
Listening to SAILING while sailing out on the lake..perfection!
Swept the Grammys that year!!! He won everything!!!!
"Sailing" from Christopher Cross and "Human Nature" by Michael Jackson are my 2 favorite songs from the 80s. "Arthur's Theme" and "Think of Laura" are also great ones from Christopher Cross.
Human nature is still my favorite Michael Jackson song.
Love Think of Laura. It's so sad.
Two great picks there! Sailing and Human Nature are excellent!
Actually Sailing came out in late 1979 . So Its 70s
@@theodoreritola7641 Wow, I always place it between 81 and 83 in my memory. Thanks for the correction.
OMG !!! I can't believe that you guys actually did a reaction to the song " Sailing " !!! This is great !!!
Yeah, yacht rock never, ever gets the respect it deserves. Some brilliant musicians and songwriters in there, and some magnificent voices.
...the piano, make me melt oh God! blessings...is my favorite song, thanks so much. Greetings from Chile South America.
I was 12 years old when this album was released. Sailing and Ride Like The Wind are classic songs.
My favorite song by Cross is from the movie Arthur called Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)-- it won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
You need to hit "Arthur's Theme" for sure.
This is probably the most mellow and relaxing tune you will ever here, its a summer Sunday afternoon sailing tune to cruise up the river to.
"Never be the same" is another really good one! Such a bop ❤
Ride Like The Wind
they reacted to that one
Oh what a old gem… thank you for reminding me of this beautiful song….
Christopher Cross creates a whole world with this song. He immerses you in his world.
4/9/22, 7:34 p.m.
love his voice. "all right" is probably my favorite song of his 💌
Grammy winner right here. Chris is also a fantastic guitarist. Hypnotic sound.
This song takes me back to when I was a kid. As a matter of fact it’s in my ‘anxiety’ playlist. This song is so beautiful and relaxing. Thanks so much for reacting to it. ❤️
Yacht Rock. I swear that subgenre was created just for him. Memories of playing this while flying down Sunset Blvd. to the beach.
Ride like the Wind - a global favourite by Christopher Cross
While I like Sailing, my favorite from Christopher Cross is Ride like the Wind
Especially if you can get the clip of the song from SCTV!
Another great one 🕊️
My favorite singer, hands down.
More than anything, this song reminds me of being a young child, reminds me of my late mother and gives me that “safe” feeling that only comes with being a child so many years ago. I would give anything to go back and experience that once again.
Arthur's Theme 🥰another great hit won the Oscar for best original song in 1981🏆
Two other great sailing songs - "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Stills, and Nash and "Cool Change" by Little River Band. You'd love them both.
I agree two very good song…
Slightly more manic... 6 months in a leaky boat by Split Enz !!
Sail away (styx).. really great sailing song.
Such a talented musician and artist ❤👍🎸🍺
Classic Yacht rock! It’s the keyboard, chimes and the strings that make it amazing.
"Yacht Rock" at it's best :) Easy Listening, Adult Contemporary, Soft Rock.... so many words for it!
This is a special song. It's great to play in the sweet southern summers on the hammock.
*Chris wrote this song about his Dad who was an abusive Alcoholic and they had a bad relationship. The song has nothing to do with 'Sailing' at all, Chris even admitted this himself. There is a video on Howard Stern about this and how he wrote this song because of it.💯%*
Favorite song “Think of Laura”, but all his songs were beautiful.
Omg!!! There’s something about this song that just reaches me. Since the first time I heard it I was hooked. Gorgeous song.
Oh this is a fantastic song.❤️
Close your eyes and drift away.
This entire album is great- especially on a rainy Sunday
This is my favorite song OF ALL TIME! It does something to my soul when I hear it. I told my family I want this song playing at my funeral.
I’m 49 and never heard the term yacht rock until last few years. I’m pretty sure it’s a new invention and the term didn’t exist back in the day.
If, by "new invention," you mean just the last few years, then nope. I heard the term back in the 20th century.
@@eddiet3026 ooh wow!! Way back In the 20th century? Lol you youngins absolutely kill me. I meant back in the late 70s when his music was being played on the radio, no one called it yacht rock. We called it either easy listening or more commonly soft rock. Yacht rock is a new(er) invention and meant as a pejorative in my opinion, meant to disparage the music as less important
@@RoadHammer1972 lol! Gotcha by 5 years, Sonny Boy! 😆😆😆
@@RoadHammer1972 not pejorative at all!!! I love Yacht Rock! I have friends who make yacht rock lists! I'm all about that boat life! Marinas are where it's at! 😀
@@eddiet3026 haha
This music has the capacity to lift your soul into the heavens...effortlessly!This man has earned his place in the halls of the greatest music...Ty guys for this
This is my most favorite song...period.
OMG....Christopher has a velvety smooth voice.....enjoy him and his songs for so long 💗. This song....just close my eyes and I'm gone,....back to my childhood and early teen years 🕊️
Chris has been writing amazingly melodic songs for decades. Most people only know his first few hits, but his music from more recent decades is just as good if not better.
This is just the epitome of 70's easy-listening gold. "Think of Laura" is probably his best song, imho.
Absolutely magical, mellow gold.
Love Christopher Cross.....such a humble no star trip kinda guy.
This is #1 on my lazy day on the lake playlist.
Thanks for doing this! I was one of those who recommended this...now you know why. This is probably the most calming song of all time. As a sailor (sailing and 30 years in the Navy), I LOVE this! "The canvas can do miracles," does not do justice to what sailing is like. Magical. Christopher Cross is a very VERY underrated guitarist and song writer. The sound you're talking about are Bar Chimes. "Arthur's Theme" should be next for Chris Cross.
Same vibe but a VERY different message is Bruce Hornsby & The Range, "The Way It Is"...one of my all-time favorite messages.
YES! ❤ BRUCE HORNSBY! 👍🏻😃❣️
It is to sailing what Born To Be Wild is to motorcycling.
Totally agree.
✨
This song took 5 grammy awards the year it came out. Fantastic song; really takes you away.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. ❤
It’s beautiful watching your faces while you enjoy the music
An ABSOLUTE MUST SEE Movie "Arthur" (1981) It Features Christopher Cross "Arthur's Theme".
This is one of those songs thats so well written so well sung and so well played that you don't listen with your ears you listen from within your emotions.
"Music" Just an incredible song.
