  • In this video I just wanted the rusty and tired looking servo to look a bit better. A combination of a poor surface and dusty conditions made the final product a little less satisfying than I was hoping for but it was mostly my own fault. Nevertheless I really did just want it to look better than it was and I have at the very least achieved that. I am not going for perfection with putting the T4 together, I just want it a little more easy on the eye and back together so I can use it.
Thanks to all my subscribers for getting me over the 200 mark! It might not be a big deal to some but it is a big deal to me and I am very grateful that others hopefully enjoy my videos. The more the channel grows the more videos I will upload.

Man..."longer then anticipated" seems to be a theme with T4s. Just spent 3 days, on and off, removing the egr pipe from the manifold. After using wd40, heat, impact and all the other methods and swear words I could think about to unbolt it ended up snapping off one stud and grinding off the otherf. Just have to drill and tap now ;). But I gave up on trying to make it look nice. Just clean it up a bit and make sure it`s mechanically sound. Good work on the servo, keep this up.!

@@AMSVauxhall yep, saw this but Im working with the engine still in the bay so access to it was ...err..difficult to put it mildly. Had to take the manifold off (changing for volvo mani) so needed to get this pipe off first. Heat didnt work for me. Studs are cut off now anyway, so just drilling and tapping left.

Is ther a way of changing the rubber boot or the foam seal on brake pedal push rod side.. Mine keeps hissing sprayd oil grease at it stopped but come back tap pedal stopes then comes back. Obviously worn seal?

Thanks for the video AMS, so invaluable to see what you're getting into before you start. I will probably refurbish as you did regardless, but my brakes, specifically rear left, is coming on and locking up the wheel. If i bleed the fluid in the caliper a little it will relax, but a short time later it will come on again and stay locked up. Any ideas what could cause such a failure? First thing i'll do is check the handbrake haha, but i don't think it's that.

It’s possible the the piston in caliper is just sticking but it could also be a fault in the flexi pipe or the master cylinder. None of which are difficult to replace but I’d start with the caliper

is there a kit to renovate the internal parts, like orings springs etc?

I wouldn’t have thought so. The chances of you sealing the servo after splitting it would be slim. That would very much be a machine shop job which would likely cost 3 times more than a new servo.

Did you consider testing the servo?

@@AMSVauxhall Ah that's good. My brakes are fading slightly. Van's 18 years old. I thought maybe just replace servo and master cylinder unit with new, but of course the vacuum pump may also be worn! £££. With hindsight and with the help of your video, I will perhaps refurbish what I have. Thanks.

@@ricko3k I would start by testing the condition of the brake fluid for water contamination as that will give a soft pedal. Or just flush and replace the fluid and check the condition of the flexi pipes while you are there
