Just what I'm in the process of doing so great to see what I'm up against. The kettles going on and the plasters are coming out . Many thanks for your time.
Hi I’ve lost gears in my t4 2.5tdi .now I fitted 2nd hand gear linkage as old one broke off had to adjust front back sideways etc only got 3rd an 4th now in middle off dales Yorkshire windy hilly roads an my mumdads At hotel got get them home after 😀need to adjust I think
How, timely after getting my new top end engine replaced and how running I have to replace the steering rack. My rack has four T50 TORX bolts hold it to the sub frame and so far I can only undo one! It's hard to get to when laying under the van. You have normal bolts on yours I see. Do you think it's worth also changing those awkward wishbone rubber bushes before they get as bad as yours were? Good work, hell of a project!
aaron harris torx are a nightmare for this sort of thing. I would definitely replace them with regular hex bolts. If possible Ii would replace all the bushes with poly bushes but this can be quite expensive.
Thanks for that. I have began to take down the subframe and have ordered wishbone bushes upper and lower, new track rod ends, inner, outer cv boot kits, rack mount rubbers etc about £180 worth. I can't get lower ball joint bolts out yet due to m14 spline! But everything else has been loosened/ cracked. Question for you. How heavy is the subframe with the rack as well? I have taken all brake related parts off and drive shafts with be removed as need new cv boots and my grease is black! I only have one small trolley jack and im worried about the weight of it all. I see you seem to drag it around fairly easily. Thanks going to pick up anti rust paint!
@@sg3260 thanks to you and my Haynes manual plus a lot of my own hard work and determination I completeled the front sub frame rebuild. I used your vids a lot to help with the visualisation as a video is better than a black and white Haynes photo. Lockdown helped me as I had a lot of time for once! My van drives so much better over the bumps. It passed the mot in the end too!
You Sir, are a legend for taking on that rebuild. I've endured similar hardship with the lower wishbone Bush bolts. Well done 👌
Thanks buddy 😌👨🏼🔧
Very helpful. Good job.
Another great project on the t4!
Well done you're making a proper good job pal 👌

Not a bother buddy! Good luck with it. Every nut and bolt was seized on mine and it was a time consuming pig of a job! 😏

bloody hell, looks scary. I don't want to know how my caravelle 1996 subframe looks like. :D
It will so be worth it in the end 👍🏻

I removed the M14 spline with a big hammer and a punch with the hub on the bench. Was easy enough.

Gee I'm glad I don't live in the UK
We don't need to grit the roads here in Qld.
My T4 is in much shape...
It is one of the downsides to the UK 😩 vehicles require constant care and attention to keep in good condition.
