- The first load-assist mount to handle both SUPs and kayaks, the ShowDown makes loading and unloading heavy boats and boards a breeze. The lightweight mount tilts down more than two feet from the roof rack, takes on up to 45% of the boat’s weight, then helps gently raise it up to the top of the vehicle. I installed my Yakima Core bars with Timberline towers and the Showdown myself. Perfect performance the first time! Can't understand why others had issues? This was my first time doing this. I read the instructions and watched the Yakima videos. Piece of cake!
Is there a heavy duty one for kayaks that weigh over 100 lbs.?
So this won't work with factory cross bars that don't extend? Also how much addtional height with ur bars and this setup are added to the vehicle? I'm hoping to fit in my garage without removing them. (or course I will take the kayak off.....)
I wish this was designed to work on oem bars, which typically do not extend over the width of the vehicle. Seems like an opportunity for a yakima accessory that would help a lot of customers.

Why do you stop the kayak saddles moving right across. I have to use the board saddles for my yak ???
I am unclear as to what you are asking. Do you mean how do you stop cradles from moving on the cross bar, or ? Which cradles and which bar? Let me know the year, make and model of the vehicle as well please
The problem I am having is that I can’t put the kayak saddles far enough apart on the bar for my kayak. Is there a reason for stopping the kayak saddles from moving right across the bar the same as the stand up board saddles?
I still don't know which saddles you have but you can position them where you want. The only caution I will raise is when they are outboard of the rack towers they are more liable to theft. If you let me know which saddles you have I can address those directly.
The kayak in board saddles can’t slide right across so my kayak hull is not sitting on them correctly. The saddles in the video are exactly the same as the ones I have. I have a feel free lure 11.5 fishing kayak
Kevin, which video? Why can you not move the saddles on the crossbars? If you can send a link to the video you refer to.
What if you have 2 kayaks? Do you need carriers?
If you are using the Showdown, this will only hold one kayak. You could ostensibly put one on each side, but that would require a very wide crossbar .

A 70" crossbar will accommodate two Showdowns with the required 3.5" outside of the towers for leverage.
Anybody tested this product w a Pa14 hobie???
Hi Chris, Weight limit for the showdown is 80 lbs the PA 14 weighs 124.5 lbs, it should no be carried on this rack, doing so would void the warranty
