Berley Pro should make a version that allows you to load directly into the bed. Shorten the middle section along with the piston and they’d have another winner.

Great Video! I'll be purchasing one for sure. I have a bed extender now but I have storage issues when I travel with the Kayak. To have the Kayak above the bed of my Jeep gives me back all of the storage I lost. Quick tip for those scratches...try some KYDEX pieces on the stern it will eliminate scratching your Kayak when on concrete. It's cheap and easy to install.

Man that is awesome. That's way much easier to put it on the top of the truck this way then trying to lift all that weight up by yourself or need someone to help you. And like you said having a trailer you need somewhere to store it and it also helps to burn a little bit more gas. I have 10 kayak to haul so i need a trailer for that. P.S. I had my foot looked at yesterday & somehow I twisted it really really good some how. My 30 year anniversary is this weekend and it really sucks cuz I have to stay off my feet. I lose 4mpg on my Subaru Outback with it on the roof. I hull my PA12 in my bed normally but use racks when pulling my travel trailer and it's a bear getting up there...especially since I'm on 34s.

Hi Thanks for the videos, I am a new subscriber. I like this but when I checked the price it is about 300 to 400 more than the Rhino Rack Loader and the EZ RAC Loader. Can you tell me your reasaon for this to justify the extra cost, they all seem like good loaders and I will need something to get it on top of a Tahoe? I am leaning towards the EZ REC. Thanks great videos, especialy on the Unlimited Nucanoe as those helped me to decide to go with the unlimited. Thanks again and Ill keep watching.

This is the same price or cheaper than the EZ RAC. I got the Will-I-Loader directly from Berley Pro in Australia. The American dollar is worth more so after the equation/transaction in my credit card it was like $800. Took about 10 days to get going through customs etc.
This is a much simpler device. Goes into your hitch and remove when done. I just wanted something to get on top of my ladder rack. No extra racks or permanently mounting something to truck. Simple is reliable.

The circle of life. Heavier kayaks mean newer and more expensive loading systems. New/expensive loading systems only encourages them to build heavier kayaks. More weight, more money, more solutions, more weight, more money, etc., etc. Soon they will build kayaks the size of aircraft carriers and we'll be trying to put them on top of subcompacts because that's the only car we can afford. Laying flat no. You need to have at least 80 inches of flat usable space to have 2 Hobie PA 14 side by side and be able to tie down. The kayak is 39 inches wide and you need a little wiggle room. I currently have a different rack and I got the widest you can get and 78 inches but have other things on it. Maybe that one would work but 78 inches is right on what you need. If you remove the end stops maybe. I currently have the Yakima HD rack on a different truck.

Cool idea but for the price, I can buy a couple old jet ski trailers and convert them, sell one and keep the other for free 😂

It’s time management. For $800 it was worth it. I actually went back to a trailer as I have added another kayak to the fleet. So couldn’t fit both on the ladder rack. But this thing rocked when I had it.

@@rjmfishtales I hear ya. I like the trailer because I don’t have to wrestle the kayak on and off at the house - I just drop the trailer or hook it on and go. I had an ascend and various other cheapo kayaks, and upgrading this week to a used Hobie and was looking at what people do for transport etc to see if there was anything I wanted to put the time and money into that might be better than pulling a trailer.

It works well. The cheapest way to buy is directly from Berley Pro as the American dollar is stronger than the Australia dollar. So after the conversion it was around $800 even through the cart says like $1100 or $1200. It just takes a couple weeks to get as it needs to go through customs. But I like it when I had it. It makes getting on top of rack pretty easy.

Did you order the one with the strongest piston? There is 3 different ones. Also I would suggest to keep weight out of the front hatch. I keep very little in the front. If you are having problems it could possible be a bad piston as well. I have had no problems with mine and use it 2-3 times a week. If you purchased locally I would take it back and show them. If you bought it directly from BerleyPro I would reach out to them. As long as you have the right piston it should work flawlessly.

It’s $1200 in Australia where Berley Pro is from. But when you purchase directly from them like I did, it’s $800 US dollars when calculated during transaction. So yes it’s affordable for what it is.

What a god-awful contraption. Would be different if it had other uses. I just use my wife to help me load/unload our yaks AND she is useful for other things too...
