@@user-lt9db6qg5x his name is Tănase Prodana , he fought in Tatra region his older brother fought and was injured at Odessa , their young brother was my grandpa. he was a peasant doing agriculture , hard working , until we was 70 de would carry the gas tank on his back for 17 km to Corabia to fill it for cooking (he was from Giuvarasti, Olt) just not to pay extra. only knew him for 7 years, there was a 100 km distance from where i grew up and lived and i would only visit that part during my summer vacation , i was 14 when he passed away.

My great grandfather on my mother’s side was from Czechoslovakia.
When he was young he had fallen in with the partisans, I believe after escaping German custody.
I’m not sure, I haven’t been told the whole thing.
Later on after the end of World War Two, he left and ended up joining the French foreign legion. The skills he had learned as a partisan probably helped him there.
This was a great song and got me thinking about him and his story.
my Great gandfather was czech and got forced into the german army and sent to italy but they took over the trai they where on stole all the equipment and ran off into the mountains to join the italian partisans.

The rest that stayed behind died in the Holocaust or the slovak national uprising . Makes me sad so few people know about the slovak national uprising... My family member escaped from Czechia to Russia in 1939 after Germany invaded Czechoslovakia, joined Red Army and became a commander of T-34 and died in 1945 a month before the end of the war. Another family members were in German labor camps for refusing to give food to German soldiers. Another escaped to France and fought in French army. And now sadly we Czechs keep hearing from Russian government and Russian propagandists how we were on the German side, even though we were the first who were attacked and the first who killed German soldiers and the first to have partisans fighting against them... That is really insulting to all people who had relatives killed by Germans.

The strange things about Slavic languages is that they are very similar, thus Slavs can understand other Slavs. But at the same time, there are many words that are the same, but have completely different meaning, which makes listening to other Slavic languages a bit funny.
slavs can best recognise languages in their own regional sub-branch. yet there is always the languages best intelligible to each other--to poles, slovak is more intelligible than czech, even though all 3 are west slavic.
In polish, there is a phrase "sziukam dite we sklepě" (or smth like that) which in polish means "I'm searching a child in a store", while in Czech it means "I am f*cking a child in a basement xD

My Grand grand father was a Czechoslovak (Czech) Partisan who fought in Moravia. He was also a Lieutenant in the Czechoslovak Army. He and rest of partisans hided in bunker "Balalajka" Near town Králíky. He's dead now...And his wife aka my Grand Grand Mother was in labour camp and lives till now... But she will probably soon die. Also. Waffen SS Wanted 100,000 Reichmarks for my grand grand father.
