Looking through the comments, it's not just me that thinks that Chris's input has greatly improved the content and it's great to watch both of them problem solving.
Chris on the toilet in the welfare van made him a legend in my eyes :D
It's a new skill talking to a camera & not every one wants to be on camera. Chris is definitely improving his presentation skills......👍
Yes but I think Chris is struggling a bit with the weather and his arthritis. When it is going to snow ❄️ it affects our weak spots too.
True, I remember when he never liked being on camera, Never mind spoken 😂
@@deanishere7237 deffo mate that had me in stitches
Chris just brought back a memory then, I haven’t heard the word Bunce since my late brother passed away 2013, he often used that word lol
God rest his soul.
Edge of the seat stuff! Never mind Big Benders and Constipation Street, this has all the drama in 20 minutes! Brilliant dudes!
Ok anyone else want to know how rob and chris meet, how they have a farm/yard/workshops thing. How they stated out? How did they first get the finances going.
Great stuff.
Don’t time laps the engine removal just live stream and leave it up.
Rob & Chris - If it is the oil pump, which is highly likely, there is a Ford Ranger Seized Engine group on FB which gives you an idea of the extent of the problem. The Transit was subject to recall to fit a modified oil pump but, according to Ford, the Ranger was unaffected, despite using the same engine. The modified vane pumps are also known to fail and the only permanent solution is to fit a geared alternative. This also does away with the "10 minute maximum" oil change issues. Great video, All the best.
Can we crunch the numbers on how much Chris makes from loose change over the year :D
Good vid lads can't wait to see it fixed :)
You know Rob and Chris, I don't think you have to worry about the length of the videos, they are never boring. The first video on the truck, you've left us hanging 😆.
Proper LOL when Chris was squirrelling the coins away for his lunch!!
I wanted to say that your channel has inspired me to expand my mechanical skills, and today I fitted new brake discs and pads to my car for the first time. Thanks for the inspiration!
Keep up the great work 😎 👍🏻
Quite enjoyed the back and forth between you and Chris strategising on what to do with that engine. Top content again guys.
Chris straight into the truck getting his lunc money made me lol 😂
Must be pretty hungry for that!
Or was that hangry !!😆😆🤣😋
Great to see more of Chris on camera. His input is great and good to see his confidence on camera coming on leaps. Great channel. 👍
Blimey Chris was scooping up the change like it was from a one armed bandit! Made me chuckle out loud. Your interaction is superb another brilliant video guys, they just keep getting better!
Hi guys, i have this very truck. Aparently, the oil pumps were faulty in the earlier models. Ford have now a revised pump. Also, incase you wasnt aware, oil changes are to be quick, in around 10 minutes to prevent the pump from draining.
With you mentioning the previous owner did a full service, i bet you the garage that did it, drained oil, went for a wee chat for half hour then came back and refilled it. By then, the damage was done.
Can i ask, if you get the time, to film the cause of said failure. Because whilst it maybe of no benefit to you personally, people like us, it outlines what potential problems there are, how to fix or how to avoid. I certainly would be interested in seeing it, how easy or hard the job is to change the pump or remove it, and when refilling, how to refill it properly to avoid a costly engine replacement.
Chris is an absolute wizard when it comes to the engines and electrical systems. He is just a joy to watch him eliminating the possible problems starting with most likely, working up to the bigger possibilitys. He always gets there in the end. Hats off to yous both for the brilliant work yous do. Take care lads.
Chris is a very knowledgeable man he blows my mind with his knowledge he’s the man …. Looking forward to seeing the results of this one guys
Hi guys, these are MEGA common for oil pump failure, I do many many oil pump replacements for the Facebook group members. These have a vane type pump that breaks. I upgrade them for the euro 4 transit type geared pump. I actually quoted the guy to put an engine in this truck! . I do loads with these, if you want any info let me know. Second hand engines are 3k ish and a reman from Ivor searle about 3k too
Don't know why you worry about the video getting too long we want longer ones pleaseeeeee but I appreciate it's probably more work for you Rob to edit etc, definitely think a recon engine and swop the old engine, look forward to episode 2,cheers
As others have opined, almost certainly the oil pump. It was a weak point on this particular year, mine went on a 2013 Peugeot Boxer Camper with the same engine. Fortunately i caught it in time and fitted a new one in a campsite by the Med!
....Nice one! There seems to be a recurring theme here..... Now it's Peugeot...... Mmmm?
(PS...back in 1975....I changed the head gaskets on a Transit V4...at Knutsford Services on the M6.......Happy days!)
Go Chris, getting really good to camera now!!!
If you tried repairing it’s just a money pit. Just get a second hand engine saves you loads of time and money. When Chris got the money out of the car and said it’s “bunce” I’ve not heard that comment for a long time did make me laugh. This has potential for being a great video 👍👍👍👍
Rob don't interrupt Chris 🤣, its good to have Chris's input plus he was smiling 🤣, great video lads👍.
Must admit I quite fancy that truck once repaired. Perfect for the dogs as we live down here in Cornwall nowadays.
Chris made me laugh as soon as he stuffed that shrapnel in his pocket 😂
Rob, Chris, I was just about to suggest fitting a reverse-rope pulley at the rear of the lift area so you can pull your dead vehicles in by pulling your little tractor in the opposite direction and then you showed us those double doors at the back of the workshop! Trust Chris to have thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ha ha! Nice one boys!😊👍
I enjoyed seeing you and Chris discussing next steps.
Excellent, team work, thanks
Chris' explanation was brief clear and informative - great work
So nice to see more of Chris
Great to see Chris so much in this video. The two of you thinking it through together was awesome…
Lovely example of the Ranger a new engine definitely. Had to smile when Chris found loose change again 👍
Really enjoyed Chris’s analysis. Another great video. Thank you and have a nice weekend.
There’s a 4th option, rip that engine out and wang a big V8 in to its place, really show us what you can do, I’m confident the two of you could do it with no dramas.
Great video.
Loved the discussion. Looking forward to seeing what the problem is and to see you get the truck fixed.
100k on a diesel is embarrassing is that a Mitsubishi engine? A nice looking we’ll optioned truck that cannot be bought in the USA.
Great to see you both working out the possibilities. Chris was Almost waffling there for a second good to see him with a big smile happiness is contagious. Thanks for sharing
PSA Engine?
@@Kenny-on6ye no,Ford engine(fact).
Cant wait to see the outcome. Great to see Chris taking more of the spotlight! Great stuff guys.
Remember when Chris was camera shy? I love his input - both you guys are true craftsmen and have a great understanding of what’s going on with these vehicles.
He brings so much to the videos now
I enjoyed watching you both go through your thought processes together. It gives a novice like me a guide to troubleshooting, as well as showing me WHY you guys make the choices you do on your rebuilds.
Brilliant content Rob - this is going to be an excellent series, and it’s great to hear Chris commenting as he does! Looking forward to the next instalment.
Rob and Chris looking forward to seeing the removal of the engine and why it failed 👊👊
There may not have been much physical action but it was equally as interesting hearing you making the assessments and talking through the options. Thanks
Brilliant setup were you're both chatting together I really enjoy the content that way 😊
Great video Rob and Chris
Evening guys I'm with most of the other comments its brilliant to hear both of you chatting about what your doing. It just pushes the channel to a whole new level.
Yes agree with you about it will make good comment and looking forward to watching you both repairing it
Channel gets better and better, genuine, honest and informative. Great to see more of Chris. Keep em coming fellas.
I wish every garage was as thorough, honest and reputable as you guys are.
Great content - even for us non petrol heads.
Love your channel guys.chris is so full of knowledge and great watching him at work.both keep up the great work and videos.
I’ve just come in from getting a gearbox and clutch off a Hiace in my drive and now some Ranger work - perfect 👍😊
Really looking forward to following this one!
This will make a really great truck for someone when it’s repaired, I really like Chris’ input, I enjoy hearing him pass on his expertise❤️.
This looks likes a great turnaround job, and makes a change from the normal repairs you see online, keep them coming Chris and Rob.
This is going to be exciting! Got loads going on now! Love listening to Chris in action! Anyway I’ll see you both in the next one ☝️
Love it lads remember first watching yous chris wouldn't even be on camera let alone talk on it top knowledgeable channel this love it by far the best car channel on UA-cam
Oil pumps used to give out on those there was a recall for the transit. The chains only snapped due to oil pumps failing. New engine and turbo
Good to see the discussion and decision making between the two of you. Nice truck.
Fascinating. Love to see the inside of the engine, just to see. Nice.
A good honest utility sort of specification on this Ranger. No need for lots of glitzy garnish on these vehicles. That colour ought to clean up very nicely as well. Looking forward to seeing what happens next. Thank you.
Chris is the man he speaks knowledge so it's deffo way better when he gets involved more with the camera..both top lads and ace to watch the vids everytime 👌
Chris really is quite a natural in front of the camera and glad to hear his thoughts. This looks to be an interesting project and look forward to the next installment. Cheers, good start to the weekend.!!
Lovely truck , you guys do a marvellous job everytime , I enjoy watching you because I m learning things about cars I never new , So big thank you to you both , brilliant
Hello Rob and Chris. Another great video. Nice interaction between you both as others have said. Excellent new project. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Got a good feeling about this truck. Looks like a great adventure ahead, thank you both.
Keep up the great work guys loving all this different content
Nice to see Chris in front of the camera great video will be interesting to see the damage internally .Roll on part 2 😃
Guys just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to G101. I just used it to thoroughly clean the inside of my new to me 24year old Ford Freda. This stuff is awesome. And I got right in there and got involved 😎👍
Gents you are on fire this year so far. Best channel on UA-cam. Rob & Chris spot on as always. 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧
Loved the dialogue of you both deciding what’s best to do with the engine 😊😊
great video lads, good to see chris more in the videos and getting involved
Thanks for the explanations. Good for us numpties.
Hope you both have a good weekend
Great content guys!
I love how Chris is speaking more in the videos. Looking forward to this one
Thanks again Rob and Chris. I love the engine mystery videos. That’s a whole category of videos waiting to be made. Looking forward to seeing you two getting it sorted!
Thanks for the brilliant video, Very informative '
I could sit and listen to the wise old wizard for hours ! ❤ Chris .
Nice to see something different, good luck with the truck 👍
Love the videos keep them coming 🤙
Nice one, Rob and Chris.
Excellent as usual guys looking forward to the next vid
Nice truck, you made me laugh Chris doing the most important thing first looking for money.. That's what my dad did when he had a PX in. Looking forward to the out come. Have a great weekend guys...
Great content guys
Chris in like a draught for the shrapnel - spat my tea out!! 🤣🤣
I’m surprised you didn’t just drop the oil, that could give some clues. Great truck looking forward to seeing the next instalment. 👏👏
Chris is the man of wisdom!
Another great, amazing to have a truck on the channel and At the same time Chris getting the truck to get the pennies with a theory about them I agree. “Look after The pennies and the £ will look after themselves”, a true theory on money. Rob and Chris are the true skilled craftsmen with cars because they know their stuff with cars. Chris was camera shy but not any more maybe Chris may do some main video recording like Rob. Anyways, I can’t wait to see the engine removed from the car and the car being completed. Great video as always look forward to seeing the next uploads.
Really enjoyed this video guys, thanks alot. Have a peaceful weekend.
The cost and time put into rebuilding that engine would pretty much be for nothing, you'd fix one problem and another would be created, but on the flip side getting a secondhand engine is a chance you take as to whether it is any good or not, hopefully one of your contacts that look after you will have something for you. Lovely to see a pick up on the channel, cracking episode for a Friday! See you next week!
Love watching you guys working it live on this video
Can’t to see the outcome
Best of luck rob and Chris 🤞
Great video guys.
Very interesting as always gentlemen. Thank you for sharing.
Nice to see a truck on the channel Rob and Chris going to make great content.
Great content guys, I love the variety of jobs you bring to the channel.
Love listening to you chaps thinking things out 👍
Brill vid, love Chris having more of a part in the content problem solving, 👍👍
Another very interesting case. Looking forward to the resolution.
Best video in ages lovely to see Chris and his logic
Quite like the truck,
More than happy to watch a dismantle vid if Chris wanted to find out.
Rob STOP WORRYING about the length of the videos I think everyone agrees the longer the better 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yeah I was just getting into it 😂👍
I've done one of these engines,
Check it turns anticlockwise to see if its seized,
I had smashed rockers and chain had snapped,
Replaced rockers and chain ran perfect.
