Many of the rural township and village fire departments have a high percentage of volunteers. Line officers such as chief, deputy chief and captains in Pennsylvania are permitted to have red lights and sirens on their personal vehicles as they may be responding from home or their work place. When fighting brush fires and forest fires adjacent to occupied dwellings and industrial areas it is common practice to use the ladder trucks and snorkels to set up a water curtain to protect the roofs and a water screen down wind to protect against airborne embers spreading the fire.
Gotta love the two or three open cabs with the real fire truck sound coming out of the Detroit diesels. Bring back the deep growl of the Detroit diesel
My dept still runs and uses a 87 pierce engine/tanker our 1st out truck ♥️ it’s a bad boy!!
i agree
@jsmith198095 what station?
I like that Powercall Siren on the Fire Truck at 1:46 SWEET.
As a Lt in A rural fire department when you have a large brush fire your going to need help , not only man power but water resources . A lot of people don’t realize rural areas don’t have fire hydrants , you have to pull water from rivers or streams or ponds . A lot of these fire trucks are coming to bring water. People don’t realize but brushfires can spread extremely rapidly and are extremely hard to put out. A few years ago in North Carolina we had a large brushfire involved nine different fire departments and I would guess around 30 to 40 different fire apparatus and probably around 3 to 400 firefighters. Most of them were volunteers. In rural areas you have to run water shuttles code 3 back and forth to water supply points . During this massive brush fire we even had a large fuel tanker truck brought out to the scene to keep the fire trucks running and to supply fuel to the trucks shuttling water . It took several days of constant fire suppression and then having to overhaul all the burned brush to find hot spots . We had firefighters so tired that groups of us literally laid down on a tarp to catch some sleep while others kept battling the blaze . People just doing realize how physically exhausting fighting brush fires are .
Living in the country we were very aware of this. No water lines = no hydrants. Once a field catches and the slightest breeze and fire is everywhere. The one time we did have to call the rural volunteers, they got there in time to kill it with one tanker and a couple of brush trucks. Really did a great job.
My Dept. has Brush Trucks with platforms and cages, so a smallish grass fire in the field is pretty easy. Once it spreads to the trees, it's a real pain tho.
or tankers
I agree as a past assit chief in a rural community brush fires spread so fast, you need manpower pumpers for dry hydrants to fill tankers and equipment for the brushfire 4 by 4 s all terrane vehical.alot more then ppl realize.
Old school Federal Q will forever be the gold standard sound of a fire engine. Just a beautiful sound and it's recognizable no matter where you're from.
wagon 70 and the last engine... literally killing it!! love it
Agreed!
That last one is just pure badassery!
Incredible response... One of the best FD response videos I've ever seen!
Thank you so much! Really means a lot
Only in PA are the weeds tall enough to require an aerial ladder grass fire truck.
😂. Some of the nasty crap around here also has so many thorns I'd probably let it burn
Here in Pennsylvania a brush fire is the worst thing anyone could want to appear because we have such dense vegetation and 99% of PA is full of thick wooded areas with a lot of wildlife that would get displaced or killed so it's best to not let fires get out of control like what happens in California constantly.
A wildfire would be very disastrous because our state isn't equipped with aerial firefighting vehicles , the forestry department has a few helicopters but they're not all over PA.
@@josephbennett3482 I live in rural Ohio, we have brush fires also, we have 4wd trucks just for brush.
@@josephbennett3482 I can assure you, california doesn't "let" these fires get out of control. It's a completely different climate, different terrain, different fuels and so on than Pennsylvania.
@@josephbennett3482 if brush fires are the worst anyone would want, why do none of these depts have brush rigs?
Thanks for staying out there so long to catch all of these!
How long have you stayed there Michael?
WOW! That must have been some event! It almost looked like all of Tuesday was burning down!!! You're the best for staying out there to catch all those awesome pieces responding!
RIP TAC 8 😢
One of my favorite rigs ever other than Hecktown Engine 5311
What ended up happening to tac 8 after it got retired
What a powerhouse of a fire engine at the end. @ 12:05. Roaring Detroit Diesel 8v-71.
Wagon 46 Jesus! They were leaning and blowing black smoke!!
Something wrong with the injection system on that engine. It obviously shouldn't be doing that.
You mean wagon 70
@@Brisoup1 nothings wrong with wagon 70. She runs great and faster than99% of the other trucks around there.
@@Brisoup1nothing wrong, Mabye they just turned her up a little
@@johnwick6088is she still in service now? 3 years later? Beautiful wagon and my fav color too
It’s always mesmerizing to see emergency responders from other countries. Great video brother!
Old ladies sometimes yell!
6:50 when your department can’t get a powercall so you gotta get creative
At the beginning of this video that black Chevy Trail Blazer light set up was VERY NICE!!!! It is the best pov response I've seen EVER!!!! LOVED IT!!!
The 4 runner and the Chevy blazer I believe that’s what it is. Those are pretty sharp vehicles Ngl. And the pov response with the tan ford fire police van. Great catch. Much love to all firefighters. My dad was a volunteer firefighter for 23 years he had a 2000’s impala he would fly in that car. I’m surprised the suspension didn’t give out from how many times he would go airborne crossing the railroad tracks responding to a call or the station
It was amazing to see different Units Responding especially those Unmarked Unit...🤩👍
Pretty sure they were all mostly volunteer firefighters
@@AHomelessDorito Yea most if not all were volly. Normally the unmarked units with red/white lights and sirens are High Ranking members allowed to use em in their POVs, The blue lights (I only saw the one, are regular FFs
@@NPGxMOD really only high ranking out near you? I know a lot of volunteer FD’s in the Midwest that let their firefighters put on red/amber lights after a predetermined amount of service.
Gonna miss seeing Tac8 vids ! Also. The dark color 4 runner, the first responding POV, any other video of it? We have a 4 runner looking for ideas on lighting placement & it looks sharp.
5:23 That old truck almost tilted. They must have been in a huge hurry!
Awesome! These are some of the best rigs I've seen in a while!
Love how the smoke gets worse each time you pan towards it.
Lmaoooo 6:51 playing with the EQ making it the powercall
I like the one at 1:44 including the sirens.
Love the Pierce arrow ladder!
Nice black exhaust coming out of Wagon 70.
Had some nice black rims on it to
Quite the action you got there for 12 minutes there were a lot of units responding for a brush fire
So many fire departments responding... awesome video
That last one really charged through like a boss! Good video!
That’s prospect park
That was the last call for that truck sadly she has seen some big jobs in her day
@@frankies6770 oh rip
Love those little personal cars correct me if they're not but they make the video the best like at 0:11
The amount of pov's to the scene it's amazing they even get actual apparatus there...
The POVs are fire police
Above all apparatus that responded, I have to say, that Sutphen, whew............man that thing can roll
Yup! That was its last ever call!
Flying the Army colors too! Hooah!
@@temjr09170 How come? What became of it?
@@snowowl4019 it was replaced by a Seagrave.
5:03... Boy that truck wasn't playing hot dayummmmmmmmmmmmmn!!!!
Nice little view of the RSH-10 Thumderbeam down the street at the end
Nice rigs, All,
but wow @5:11 “Wagon 70” drive it like you stole it!!
I'm amazed at all the people that kept on driving while the units were trying to get through the intersection. I guess they are blind and deaf.
Superb video thank you for posting
Oh man..saved the best for last! That tac 8 sounded some good!
Very nice. Great catch
That was awesome!
Old and new apparatus and engines, nice one
Delco's finest....a plethora of wacker mobiles
A literal parade of whackers.
Great video! Keep up the good work.
Insane, GREAT JOB
Awesome video
Powercall siren gets me every time.
Dam for all those Responding that Brush Fire Must of been Huge
6:07 love that old ladder truck
One of my favorite trucks
Great catch .. ah, the sound of a finely tuned "Q" .. that siren, it makes the ground shake. thanks!

Tuvalu 🇹🇻
Trinidad at Tobago 🇹🇹
Was this @ the industrial park in Essington pa?
Must be one hell of a vegetation fire 🔥 for that type of a response with Snorkle units even.
Love the Squrt 43 clip...
Thank you!!
Cool to see someone catch Edgmont its a rare occasion
Amazing catch! Keep it up!
Gramma's bush is on fire
I am as many others have said surprised that there a new brush trucks. Here in Maryland almost every company has at least one if not more brush trucks. I have to assume that the aerials are mostly for manpower.
Outstanding video, what was the time frame from the first unit to the last. It's a 12 min video, I'd say you were probably standing there an hour. Great job! God Bless!
Thank you! I was there at least an hour
5:16 that fire truck done rolled coal on everybody XD.
Being in Southern California these guys are bad ass.👍👍🔥🔥
Is there a prize for which FD can mount the most flashing lights on a rig ?
Lol, don't encourage em.
In PA, yes
Yes, dumb ass people still don’t get out of the way. Someday it just might be their trailer on fire.
@Johnny’s Bricks every....square...inch
At least no Karen can’t say they didn’t see the emergency vehicle.
If you can’t see the glorified Macies Christmas parade running like a bat out of hell screaming like a banshee you should not have a drivers license.
It's Tinicum Township , Delaware County, Pennsylvania and where is the fire, that they are going to extinguish?
Camera that you use?
If rocky run came why not Media fire co or garden city of rose tree they are all 15 minutes from rocky run!
Great job u are really keeping mt baby brother enertained
man so many engines and so little brush trucks lol
no shit...I'm thinking it's raining for crying out loud.....
Engines can do so much more than what a brush truck can do , they're used mostly because of their onboard water tender and capability of high pressure attack lines and the deck gun on top which can spray out large amounts of water over a long distance and the engines can pump water from a drop tank from a tanker.
Liked and shared, nice one 🧑🏻👍🏻🔥🚒
0:20 are there actually ights on those rims?
What a great way for Tac 8 to celebrate retirement!
Yup!!!
Awesome captures my friend 👍
Thumbs Up & Big LIKE 1338
Okay... that Ford Van with the lights?
Police?
Amazing how many of these trucks don't either slow down or stop at a red light just to make sure everyone sees them. But a major response great video.
I'm curious. I read the fire was at the Philadelphia Airport. How big was it (in estimated acreage)?
I'm asking, because I find it odd that so many engines and aerials responded, but very few brush trucks and (if I'm not mistaken) zero tankers.
Are there just no out-of-the-way places, up there, with inadequate public water supply?
The fire was massive. No idea about acreage. That county does not have many brush trucks. They had one tanker, Squrt 67 is a tanker. I’m not exactly sure of the last question
@@temjr09170 lol. It took me a bit to figure out what I was trying to say with that last question, myself.
I THINK I was asking, do they just not have any need for tankers up there? Are all/most areas adequately covered with good water supply?
The area this was at was in Delaware County Pa directly next to the back end of the Philadelphia Airport. There wasn't any tankers aside from Squirt 67 for 2 reasons. One was because there was hydrants close by and a lot of engines to relay, and two because tankers are really uncommon around there because there is almost a hydrant on every block almost. As for brush trucks, the main reason why there were so many engines and not a lot of brush trucks is because large brush fires are rare in that area. Usually the biggest brush fire is some mulch in front of a store catching fire due to a cig or high heat. Also it's a really rough calculation but the area of the fire was roughly 90 Acres and was close to either shifting towards a residential area or jumping the road and spreading onto the Airport property. I know it's 2 years late but if you still use this account, I hope the answers clear your prior confusion. @@medicineman360

I love engine 12-1
Must have been one Hell of a fire 🔥
3:28 love that siren!
Are there any engines that aren’t 40 years old and have awful flash patterns that are ineffective?
5:23 is my favourite part
What is up with the vans
That's pretty rare. An unmarked police car to have a powercall
I'm at 3:56 but man do PA300s sound good. It's also one of those with a phaser instead of Hi-Lo
I am watching from Elmira NY it must've been a pretty big brush fire to have that many units of emergency personal respond to the schene

You think these. Fire trucks. Cool you are to see Jackson Tennessee. Awesome
But then they all. Are the big number one. Thank you God
Is the gray and white van police or firefighters
Love wagon 70!
Wagon 70 movin‼️😂💪🏾💯💪🏾
what kind of toyota is it right at the beginning, please?
4 runner
Wow, this must have been over half of the trucks in Delaware County 😅
Wagon 70 was definitely the best one!
Basic everyone with flashing lights and a noisy horn gets to go…the equivalent of half of England’s fire service went on that shout😂😂👍👍🏴🇬🇧
It’s awesome
Wow, that last truck was really freaking old. I’m 35 and it’s probably older than me.
Молодцы быстро оперативно❤
Wow! 🔥
good video 📹👍
3:56 What siren is this, it sounds pretty good
Pa300
Musta been a heck of a grass fire
Never seen so damn many aerials heading to a brush fire.
For manpower - no point in having 6 guys sitting around the firehouse with their thumbs up their asses
