These comments are a mess lmao. I remember when Victoria Tran had *just* been hired as Community Director, and one thing that happened a lot at the time was people basically bullying the CM from Fall Guys on Twitter. It had become this meme that "Among Us killed Fall Guys" or whatever. I always liked that Victoria in response was super nice and approachable towards that person, just being really friendly and funny in their interactions, and then Fall Guys became Among Us's first collaborative partner with the Among Us skin being added to their game. That was honestly just a really nice course of events.
Basically this goes back to an age old understanding in MMOs that social systems were essential for player retention. It's not about charm but about building relationships between players to cause a sense of community. This means making a deliberate effort to make players engage with each other (or even the development team) as the individuals will be more invested in the game because it's their source of interaction with people they've formed a relationship with.
Thank you so much for the insights. I'm new to being the CM in here and I've been trying to improve myself and my approach towards the communities. It's the simplest things that are the hardest and your presentation made me realise them again.
Thank you for this detailed presentation, Victoria! As a Community Manager I couldn’t agree more with your philosophy of how to build and evolve your community.
All memes aside, i have very good memories of playing among us with friends (specially early on when the memes werent as crazy heh) Thanks for the game.
"oh man innersloth has always been really good at social media management, i wonder what sorts of discussions are happening in the co-- goddammit"
