Really enjoying these, Donald; your quirky approach is great fun, but does require practice and will-power to overcome the almost reflex desire to replicate on the paper exactly what I see with my eyes. The 'wonky' look is a great way to try and embrace my limitations and think about 'my style' rather than 'my ineptitude'!
Thank you, Robert, great to hear you’re getting something positive from the channel. There aren’t many people watching these yet so it’s a big boost to hear this. The wonky style only came about because I cannot draw straight lines, so I just went with it 😄 I think you’re right, the instinct in all of us is to want to replicate reality, but that’s what cameras are for! The big challenge is shifting from the urge for perfection to just enjoying the sketch and not being fussed how it looks at the end. Now I try to think about every sketch as a success even if it’s a disaster 🙂 Cheers, Donald.
Thanks! Just a bit of a minimalist experiment with this one. This viaduct gets used in almost every film and TV commercial set in Scotland, even if it geographically makes no sense for the storyline.
Hi Abi, thanks for the feedback! Yes you’re right, that would definitely have been the way to go. This was a bit of an experiment to try only painting one section in isolation, largely because the previous sketch I did went way overboard with the watercolour 😊 Somewhere in-between would probably be best. Cheers, Donald.

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching, Maggie. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Just love this sketch and the superb analysis of the Harry Potter storyline 🤣

@@UrbanSketchy bit like Sycamore Gap on Hadrians Wall appearing in Robin Hoods journey from Dover to Nottingham 🤣
Exactly 😄
All that’s missing in this lovely drawing is some shading on the bride and under the arches so it is better defined.
