@selfsatisfiedred it would be great to see the lore of him and the Order of the dragon fleshed out. I'm not expecting minis right away but a few lore PDF's would be cool
A curse from god is not the same as a blessing from the servants of hell. So I could imagine that vampirism is due to something the count messed up on but was told it may lift if he can prove his penance
Exactly my thoughts; a Vampires soul is in limbo neither innocent enough to go to Heaven but only cursed and not yet damned to Hell. I'd like to see vampires on both sides, those vampires who have make blood pacts and infernal bargains with the lords of Hell for even more power and then the vampires who rely on mortal thralls that serve them intent on redeeming themselves knowing only their guilt, shame and need for repentance is what stems the flood of wicked vampires from spreading like a plague.
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” seems like a likely situation with the vampires of Trench Crusade. Vampires need humans blood to survive, demons and the forces of hell are taking away their food supply, ergo they’d be likely to join against the demons. Now as for how close they are with the church can be another layer of depth that I hope can be explored further down the line.
@Panda-Paku well the order of the dragon are specifically crusader knights aligned to the church and bound by unbreakable penance oaths. As for the other vampires of the setting, that's anyone's guess, but your theory is as good as any until we get more official lore.
I think it would be cool if there were vampires but they weren’t necessarily faithful or heretic, maybe they serve the church but only to further their own goals, that would feel like the most vampire thing to do to me
I wonder if Trench Crusade is going to have werewolves that serve the church. There's been a couple stories throughout history of self-proclaimed werewolves who fight witches, I believe
@kaboomluong9373 I think with the heretic legions having warwolf assault Beasts they might stick to those being the werewolf of the setting. I personally think it would be cool to see eastern European folk monsters as a faction, maybe the wallacian knights are the elites, baba yoga's hut on its chicken legs could be the heavy unit. Maybe the leaders are vampire nobles and bog witches, then you could have the troops being some kind of igor like things. They could be kind of like a mix of jaberean alchemy (but with witchcraft instead) and heavy armoured knights.
I would like to add that the order of the Dragon referenced in Trench Crusade is an actual knightly order that historically existed, though Vlad III (thats the impaler) never was part of this order and rather his father Vlad II Dracul was which gave his son the nickname Drăculea, said nickname roughly translates to son of the dragon. Ialso find it interesting that they set back the whole impaling thing by round about 100 years.
I guess it's entirely possible Dracula in this verse isn't vlad the 3rd and instead is his father. The 100 year shift is interesting too, but then again there's a church space program in the late 1800's so some timeline shenanigans are to be expected.

Maybe, but i think the comparisons to 40k are a bit lazy/unfair. Yes they have their similarities but we can appreciate both for what they are rather than seeing one as a copy of the other, in my opinion.
I think the turks and the wallacians have bigger fish to fry at the moment. I imagine most of the turks are either dead or behind the iron wall with the sultans forces but more lore on the survivors of bizantium would be cool.
I mean, there is already ghosts in this universe (cough Trench Ghosts cough). And zombies. And those War Wolfs look just like werewolves but with large pieces of sharp metal nailed into them. I think it’s a little too late to be refusing anything on the grounds of being too Halloweenish.
I imagine this vampirism is a result of chemical mutations rather than an actual species.
@@ProjectTaker it's unclear, but either are possible
It would be cool to have an faction of vampires knights. They're going to be my favorite Faction if they are in the universe.
@Otomazeman I'd like to see the hussars get a model soon, but I think everyone's thinking that about a lot of factions lol
I remember mike (or toumas) mentioning that the nature of vlad’s vampirism is alchemical too so that’s interesting.

@Ironclad_Liver possibly, that's not something I'd previously considered but i could see it being the case.

It could be that the Dragons, vampires or not, just didn't want the heretics coming thur their hood and taking over.
@@MikeKing-z5q it could be, but they are a crusader order, so there is a link to the church however tenuous that is.
vampires deciding to fight hell alongside the church is awesome
@schinder3333auqa it reminds me of "pissed off christoph" from vampire the masquerade and I love it lol.

Very true, much like the iron sultanate they may simply be co belligerents rather than directly working for the church
It would also be a nice subversion
