Doh! Only just found out about this. I bang on about Absolutely all the time, and no one gets it, because they're too young and missed out on the genius - although they have no excuse anymore at it's all on 4OD and here. Anyway, "Trousers I'm wearing trousers!!!"
Without 'Absolutely' there would have been no 'Fast Show'...Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson plundered the Absolutely sketches for some of their characters on the fast show - Bert bastard saying 'Arse' was stolen for a 'Bob Fleming' sketch there were a few others too.
The sketch at the end is an old classic but just to add I download radio programmes for walking, cooking etc and one I have been listening to in lockdown is Alone by Moray Hunter. Absolutely brilliant. TV’s loss is radio’s gain with Angus Deayton and Pearce Quigley as very unlikely brothers.
That's not a new Calum Gilhooley sketch. It was on Absolutley. Still, good to hear them on the radio. Shame Pete Baikie could not come up with something more inventive as well.
Fackin loved that show. Back home from the boozer, one of the nights of the week - Absolutely. I did purchase a compilation VHS in the '90s, I think, and enjoyed it all of course, but if (granted, it's a big 'if') my memory serves me right, the great Albert Bastard was conspicuously omitted. It wasn'y (genuine typo but I'll let it go) ... It wasn'r uncommon to encounter people who could cite "Stoneybridge" back in the day but most edifying were those rare meetings of intellect where Albert's prose was reciprocated. Albert Bastard - too subversive even for his own video compilation. Sparky should be proud of that.
Come to.........Stoneybridge. Described by Sir Walter Scott as, Stoneybridge. Oh look, there's our......Stoneybridge! Stoneybridge, with a bus stop, to rival all other bus stops! Stoneybridge, former contender for the 1996 Olympic games and twinned with the Yetts of Muckart.
Ha, ha, nice to see two videos of "Callum Gilhooey" couldn't be viewed by me in England! I fear this Scottish independence is starting to get a little out of hand!

Well you're comparing two different types of show. I mean sure they are both comedy but one is a coherent sit com while the other is a surreal sketch show. A much better comparison would be Chewing the Fat and Absolutely. Both of which although they were separated by a generation were almost equally as successful. Interestingly enough both spawned Sitcom spin offs with Chewing the Fat giving us Still Game and Absolutely giving us Mr Don and Mr George. But I really need to ask the question of why did you jump immediately to Still Game? I mean you could have went to Rab C Nesbitt which is clearly the Jewel in the Crown of Scottish sitcoms or Only an Excuse whicch is much more relatable to Absolutely. And why in your opinion was Absolutely "keech" (no need for a capital letter in the midst of a sentence btw)?
You fantastically talented people, this show was a creative milestone please come back
