Had a 30 min game limit because my parents thought I was addicted... and tbh I wasn't, I functioned normally but lbp was literally my soul and passion as a child lmao
i was born and raised on this franchise, so a full HOUR LONG analysis about it, and one made oh so recently, makes me have more faith that this game and it's series may still see the light of day once again!
I don't think you quite understand the sheer amount core memories you have unlocked in people. Fucking great work, this game lives forever in my heart.
Gosh I’m crying. This really was my childhood. I’m 25 now and I remember being a kid playing the online levels. I had no idea about the hacking and that really is the worst kind of closure. Thanks for this video. I really love it
Im 25 as well. What a great time to grow up! A lot of great games. The classic style God of War, Call of Duty was still cool, and of course LBP - this niche, awesome game that captivated all my friends when they'd come over. They called it "the puppet game" and surprisingly preferred it over CoD. Hahaha. Shows how universal the original game was. Not even the second game had that appeal, as fun as it was.
Twenty-seven years old here! I very much agree about the second game. The first LBP had a very special feel, from the music to the toybox feel you get from most encounters. I remember playing this game with a few of my friends and their younger siblings. It was so fun and I miss it!@@anthony-so8te
Dude. The amount of hours I'd spend playing LBP.. I'm 25 as well and didn't have a ton of friends in school but I made a lot of great friends online on PS3 playing LBP2. I'll forever miss sinking hours into LBP and Playstation Home..
Announcment: LITTLE BIG PLANET 4 IS GOING TO BE A THING THE CREATORES OF LITTLE BIG PLANET ARE WORKING ON A NEW LITTLE BIG PLANET SO WE HAVE HOPE FOR OUR COMMUNITY YEAH FORGET TIKTOK AND SOCIL MEDIA IF THIS COMES OUT I WILL RECREATE MEMORIES FROM WHEN I WAS 6 SEARCH UP IS THERE GOING TO BE LITTLE BIG PLANET 4 AND THERES UR ANSWER
If they do make one, I hope it's not gonna be PS exclusive, or will at least come to PC at some point. I played LBP 1, 2 and 3 so much back in the day when I was a console player. It has a really special place in my heart, and I hope for a new one in the future. But I've moved on to PC and I'm not gonna spend several hundred dollars just to be able to play one game. I get that some functionality of the controller might just not be possible to port over to mouse and keyboard, but I'd be content with the game requiring a controller to play the game. A controller I could use for many PC games anyway.
@@Seby_sebasThe original creators Media Molecule literally left so I doubt they would be able to recreate it. If there was it would be Sumo Digital (Little Big Planet 3 developers) or someone else. Unless they got Media Molecule back
A core (partial) memory for me is my dad coming home with a copy of LBP2 on the week it came out. It wasn't even a reward for something I did, he just came home from work and gave it to me like "Here you go." One of the happiest moments of my life. (I don't remember exactly what he said, but he's so laid-back that it's probably what he said.)
i have the exact same core memory, i came home and he gave it to me the week it came out. wasn't a reward, he just knew i wanted it so bad because of how much i liked LBP1. and LPB2 was the game i loved the most in my childhood. isn't it kinda cool how similar core memories can be with total strangers?
Endlessly slapping friends with a frying pan in my hand, dragging my cousin into an electric pit to lose the level, getting 3 friends to hop online with me to gather all the extra bubbles with crafting materials. Idk what it is but I feel everyone understands this game was an absolute gem we look back on so fondly. I truly wish they would work on a new game, would love to play this with my nephew
Slapping the crap out of my friends was probably my favorite part in this game lol Wish there was a LBP game that combined all the games into one, that would be amazing.
Little Big Planet was one of my earliest memories of having time together with my brother, the others being Borderlands and White Knight Chronicles. These games were our holy trinity because we could play them for hours without a single argument. They hold such a precious place in my heart.
Finally some who just GETS… these games just as much as I do. And the weird amount of things that we have in common just reminds me of the old things about these games back in the day. Like this being from my memory the first video game I ever played, all I did in creative mode in the first 2 games was throw down those floaty blocks and let them send me to the level ceiling, And agreeing that the lbp karting final boos track absolutely fucking slapped. I AM YOU lmao. This video was very well put together and your channel definitely deserves some more attention.
I'm still an active creator and a veteran of almost 15 years, setting on making my stories into full 90 minute movies. This game has been my outlet since I was six years old and has helped me discover my talents of art and writing. This game has changed lives. Many creators had job opportunities to work with Mm Studios, other game studios, or had other underground opportunities BECAUSE of this game. Our talents got us recognized or we grew our skills strong enough to move onto bigger and better things. Rather we were the creators or the players, we were one. We grew up together. This community, especially the veterans, are stronger than glue. Most of us are adults now and we all look back at this game as a treasured memory. It will always be as such to me.
to hear that you still play it and that you´re a "veteran" is awesome. Is LBP3 worth playing for ps4? I have wondered for a while buying it, but I´m not sure. Is there an active community there?
@@bluemoxx17 It's not as active anymore but there's still some people there. If you have the drive to create and have an outlet, I'd say get it. But I would advise to take as many tips from creators as possible when it comes to corruptions and how to deal with them. If you can get past that, I'd say go for it!
@@Cortorion_ the rest of the video talks a lot about the game corruptions, its a shame... Also, It shows that the "Dreams" servers are being shut down. I dont know if you are active there but, are they going to be shut down forever? (Sorry for all these questions btw).
@@bluemoxx17 It’s okay, the questions ain’t bothering me. It’s ending their support on September 1st. Which means the team is moving onto an “exciting new project”. There won’t be any further patches or updates for the game. Which is a nice way of saying they’re jumping and abandoning ship. It will stay online (for now..) but they won’t add the features they promised in the future.
bro you describing these games basically put me through the stages of grief (hit me real hard when you mentioned the Tsunami survival level). Also wanted to thank you for bringing me closure and making me realize people still know and care about these games!
Just wow. What a fantastic tribute to one of the unsung titans of gaming. I played this game with my brother and cousins almost daily growing up, probably around the same age as you were, and it holds such a special place in my heart. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who remembers it so fondly even if no one I know talks about it anymore. What a special gaming studio with such intense love for creation and community. Media Molecule created so many precious memories and I'm glad to see them get their flowers.
Hoping this video (and your channel) gets more attention. Not only because was this a great analysis of one of my favorite game series' of all time, but also because I just want more people to remember LittleBigPlanet exists.
Lb2 and 1 are so nostalgic. The physics and the way you could express yourself without even needing a mic through the sac guys facial expressions and hand movements. Such a staple.
Holy crap! So I wasn't the only one making sponge rockets and giant floaties! Man, this game was my childhood and relistening to the songs sent me on a nostalgia trip. Thank you for this video.
I the only one that found the soundtrack for the games scary or like get anxious during a challenge...please tell me i'm not the only one Edit: OMG yes it's the part in the game where there's like sticky purple?? Gum or something and your fighting on a ??train?? Or something with steam..I never got passed that level if I rmred correctly
You mean those spherical transparent things you can grab? That's jam. They work like Sackbots with the only difference being one time use. If the jam touches something, it vanishes and you have to get a new one from the dispenser. You can use it to grab prize bubbles in unreachable areas or active buttons with it.
this game will always have a special place in my heart; in 2010 i moved to a new city at 8 years old, so i struggled making friends at school due to my shy nature. But, I became friends with someone i found online and we used play lbg and lbg2 together everyday. Fast forward about 4 months later and we found out we both live in the same city, since then we’ve been best friends and it started with something as simple as messing about infinitely on littlebigplanet, i’ll always love this franchise. Thank you for making this video this has bought back such an important part of my childhood❤️
Thank you SO MUCH for this video I grew up being a very physically sick child that spent most of her free time indoors, and LBP was the thing I always looked forward to each day ever since I can remember. I spent countless hours on it just making friends, playing the same 10-or-so levels over and over again and even after weeks and months of just doing that it always was just as much fun as it was the very first time around, simply because it was something I could do with friends, with people that I liked spending time with, with people that liked spending time with me. The franchise itself shaped me massively into the person I am today and it holds a really special place in my heart, it was there for my first "relationship" and my first heartbreak about two weeks later, it was there when I couldn't sleep at night and could simply hop into other people's game to not feel as alone and anxious, I played it all the way up to my late teens to calm me down during finals, it taught me to be creative with the things I have around me and showed me that there was so much beauty and joy to be found in simple everday items The music, the stories, the overall atmosphere it created was so utterly comforting and freeing that even to this day the soundtrack makes me feel like a kid again, huddled in blankets on a rainy day and spending my time talking to friends and playing silly levels we made together, not needing to grow up just yet. So really, thank you for this video, because it made me sob very happy tears not even ten minutes in :') Let's hope that someday we'll get to feel that nice, comforting feeling again. Let's not grow up entirely just yet, let's just enjoy this childish freedom a little longer.
@@BucketBard I absolutely agree! I also just found out about Little Big Infinite, so there's still hope! ^^ It's really inspiring to see so many people refusing to accept this defeat and keep fighting for what they love ♡
I don’t remember how old I was when I first played LBP, but I remember playing it with my older brother and man did I have the time of my life. I was way too young to learn how to make anything advanced in the editor, but I distinctly spending hours playing one level where you would have race cars and me and my brother would have a blast. I think this game might be the reason I eventually got interested in game dev and I am forever grateful for the joy this game brought to my kinda rough childhood. I was almost brought to tears hearing that tune when you started talking about LBP 2. Thank you for this video. You don’t understand how much this game means to me. Edit: I didn’t finish the video when I wrote this but now I have and I’m crying (good tears) now. I am genuinely so grateful for these games and this video. Again, thank you.
Im an autistic girl and this franchise has literally been in my life as long as I can remember. I must have been 5 or 6 when I played for the first time. I was raised on it and was playing actively untill the lbp2 servers shut down. I still play lbp3 occasionally but I dearly loved my PS3 and lbp2. It was probably my first real special interest and even after all these years I can name every level being played in the background footage. These games always encouraged me to push limits and find new ways to explore my creativity. Currently im making a doll which I designed myself. It's tough work but I will do it. Anything is possible if you have enough creativity. This franchise will forever have a very very special place in my heart 💗
@@bungiecrimes7247 Am i not able to share a positive experience with this game? Not everything has to personally interest you. Just scroll if you don’t care. It’s not that big of a deal.
Same here. I got both the first and second game at around the same age and used to play it with my brother all the time! I still play LittleBigPlanet 3 to this day and enjoy the game just as much as I did as a child. And everything about the game is just so magical: the limited set of tools to create with and how you can make stunning things from it; the community creations and levels other people have created and shared; the game's story mode; and more. The game was truly life-changing for me, and for others as well. I'm so glad I found so many others with a shared experience. And if you are willing to post the doll you are making, I would love to see it! That is all I really have to say. I hope you have a great day!
watching this was an incredible trip down memory lane. me and my cousin grew up playing the lbp games, but until now i essentially completely forgot about them. thank you for making this, its been great remembering all the little parts of the game ive always loved :)
I loved how each LBP game was backwards compatible with old maps. There was this one specific map where you could do parkour and walk about a city made back in I think LBP2, and the amount of hours I sunk into both 2 and 3 because of it was insane
I remember LOVING this game when I was little, I could literally spend hours and hours only with stickers and costuming things, I remember my parents telling me “when are you actually going to play the game” but really every aspect of it captured my attention enough to just make me spend hours doing nothing, and as an art student I can safely say that the design is so adorable and unique it’s such a precise aesthetic. So fun to see other people who loved the game!
the quality of the video to views and likes ratio needs to be raised like theres no way this good of a video can get this little recognition good job man
LBP was the first couch game I played with my 3 younger bros. We were 12, 10, 7, and 5. The memories are endless: competing for points, having sticker wars where we tagged each other until we couldn't see, running into community made survival levels (usually involving sharks) and screaming as we dragged each other into death... The nostalgia is so strong! Thanks for making this vid
So now my kids (4,7) are into video games… I busted out the ‘ol PS3 to keep them off my phone, and introduced them to LBG. We are playing & are having a blast! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be playing 12 years later with my children & also complete 2x player levels I never passed together!! They are loving creative mode which is pretty advanced in physics for their ages. Thank you Media Molecule!! You not only brought me back in time, but also made a new memory for me & my kids! Amazing documentary on one of the most in depth creative games ever….Hope to see more LBG content in the future.
I will forever love this game and the community that created the best map designs. This game was so much fun to play with my little brother. Oh, how I miss the golden days of the PS3.. :')
LittleBigPlanet is just impossible to forget about for me considering I played it endlessly back in the day. I wish I can go back to those times, just being a carefree kid without any worries in the world.
These games have such a (little) big and important place in my heart, these games alone represents my entire childhood and I don’t think I would be the same person I am today if it wasn’t for this amazing franchise. Heck I’m not even 5 minutes into this video and I already started tearing up a bit just listening to orbs of dreams again.
the nostalgia this video invoked brought me to tears. thank you. as soon as i am able, i will be getting Dreams, i cannot wait to see the wonderful creations people have made, and to try to make a few myself. this was a wonderful video.
You have rekindled my love of LBP in ways I never knew possible, what a banger video. I now went and bought an old PS3 with all the LBP games just so I can play them again and get into the new online communities with custom servers. Thanks for pouring all the love you clearly feel for LBP into this video and helping remind so many people of the love they carry within them too.
I am so glad that there is another LBP retrospective video that doesn't have a knack for overusing the word "dead". While the franchise has basically been abandoned by Sony, its community is still there. It might be full of children who have only played LBP3 (like myself up until recently) they will still grow up and have some good memories just dicking around in the create mode, or playing community levels that range from excellent to that Mortal Kombat level you showed that had "I'm Sexy and I know it" playing in the background. Great Video!
This literally kickstarted my interest and passion for game development. I grew up making my own little levels and games in LBP. Modeling my own little characters, Making costumes, Learning the logic in the game. It was just never ending fun and really tickled my brain the right ways. Now I'm older, I don't play games as much as I used to but I do alot of programming, 3D modeling, Music Composition and Graphic Design for video games now. All things I used to LOVE to do in LBP. Using the music sequencer, Connecting logic and making my own microchips, Making stickers and decals. Sculpting my levels and props with the materials and I never would've thought it would lead into me doing it for real. Actually learning Game Development has made me realized how special LBP really was. Truly the most creative game I've ever experienced in life. :)
This game series will always have a special place in my heart, idk what it was about lbp but all 3 games made me sooooo happy. I kind of get emotional thinking back on all of the memories of watching UA-cam vids on lbp and then to getting a copy of the 2nd game. I will forever love the series and hope that they’ll make a 4th one or something
god i miss this game's community, it was amazing and this game raised SO many things for me. It raised my passion for story telling, for roleplay, for cinematography, for game designing, for ART. i just cant get enough of it.
finding someone else have a big comfort for this game is amazing. i grew up without people knowning this game (i have no idea why). this game was my whole childhood, i had the best memories with my dad playing with him, and each time i open the game i can feel how 4 year old me would just spend time trying his best to learn how to use a controller at such a young age. LBP was surely something else, and jeez. im extremely happy that i grew up with it, it helped me a lot. tysm, this video helped me so much to bring back memories
My first Littlebig Planet game was the PSP version, and although it wasn't as 'great' as the original or 2, it's still such a core, comforting memory to me, and I adore the soundtrack. I remember asking my dad and sister to help me with levels, and how even my dad (who wasn't much into playing 'kiddie' games) would smile and laugh as he played. The Orb of Dreamers (and intro as well) is so dear to my heart, and someone who loves it as much as me makes my heart warm. Thank you for making such a heartfelt and humorous love letter to a wonderful game & community. (Also, i share a birthday with the original LBP! Neat!)
unironically, LBP creation mode tutorials covered some of the basics of programming, explaining many simple and yet vital logic gates. What amazes me the most is that MM (and partly sumo digital) not only managed to create an entire "create and share" community, but also teach thousands of children some advanced stuff like "what's the difference between OR and xOR or AND and xAND gates", without them realizing that such things **COULD** be applied in some real life field. Tutorials so rewarding **and** engaging they managed to teach my 11 years old dumb ass and get hooked to become addicted to master every single element of that create mode. Media Molecule. A company which managed to brighten up my childhood and and the future after it.
I remember all the amazing memories I had on Little Big Planet.. It changed my life forever and it was my first game I ever got for the ps3 when I got both for Christmas. A time in my life I’m forever grateful for in my childhood. I spent every single day playing that game. I met my first ever PlayStation network friend. And met all kinds of people from different parts of the world on that game. The late nights playing, and logging on I was always excited to get back on to see what my friends were doing. Just felt different like I never really get anymore in a specific unique way. But that’s what made it so special. Great video man. LBP lives forever.. Wish kids growing up today could experience what we got to.
I have so much nostalgia for this game! And it honestly sucks that it all ended because some random friend group wanted to do a d-dos attack as a "Prank"!
Me and my brother could never remember how we got that 2D yellow head costume in the first game, or what the hell it was. I never expected to find out such a strong explanation here, what a fantastic video!
Baby I’m so happy you did this, I watched the entire vid. I’m from Brazil and almost NO ONE talks about it here anymore. I’m happy to see that there’s still people who still have love for this game because it deserves all of that. I tried to play Sackboy too and tbh it was so mehhh, I didn’t like it at all and I’d even rather to play LBP 3 than that. I miss the old days of LBP 1 and 2 but the only comfort I got is knowing that even if the community is not that active anymore, LBP will always be in our minds and memories, forever 🥺 ( and btw I’m sorry for the bad English 😅 )
Little Big Planet 1, 2 and 3 meant EVERYTHING to me as a kid. Easily one of my favorite game franchises, ever. period. I totally agree that the second one is the best too. The story mode was awesome, everything about LBP 2 was awesome. Me and my older brother even bought the DC level pack and oh my god it was so fun. I'm so happy to find so many people that love this game as much as I do here on youtube in this comment section. I literally almost started crying when you mentioned the Jeff the Killer community levels because me and my brother would spend hours playing any creepypasta games we could find. My heart is full of this game. It's been a creative inspiration for me and so many others. Thx so much for this video!!
This is so nice to watch. I grew up playing LBP with my old neighbor ☹️ he used to come over everyday and play it with me on our PS3. Then we played LBP3 on the PS4. I still remember those first moments playing with him and I miss him a lot. I hope he’s doing well now!! Miss you a lot Levi.
im 18 and this is still my favourite franchise! The openings for 1 and 2 remind me of coming home from school with my cousins and playing for hours. :)
i love how like every few years another big little big planet retrospective/nostalgia video shows up introducing so many people to literally my favorite piece of media probably ever
it was great seeing you mention some of the LBP2 community levels i actually played. if Sony let LBP be on PC, it could last forever its a shame thats unlikely.
As someone who did watch the entirety of Ninja Cat, I can say that it was well worth and I have a massive amount of nostalgia for that alone. Massive props to Digital Panic, nobody could do it quite like they could
honestly, this game was mine and my brothers entire childhood, we played this for hours and hours.. i miss it so much, how times have changed! i was only 15 and he was 6 years old.. now im 26 and he's 17 in college
I love watching retrospective videos on little big planet, makes me feel like it was a real game that existed instead of a dream. It’s almost like everyone knows what lbp is but never speaks of it ever. The game was one of my favorites and one of the reasons why I started doing my art. Also I relate to the thrusters on a sponge, I’d do that all the time lol
My lil bro and our cousins and I spent like 140 hours smacking eachother to death on The skateboard race minigame level alone. not to mention the laughs and fights we would all get into just trying to get through the story of the game!!!! Im so glad you made this video man i just turned 25 like a week ago and randomly lbp popped in my head tonight, so i figured id dig for nostalgia and boy did you open a lot of core memories i thought i had lost the keys to. God Bless you man!!! Made so many friends and memories playing lbp1 and 2 , it will always have a special place in my heart ESPECIALLY THE HORROR LEVELS FROM LBP2!!! Your effort was not wasted friend! This video as a whole is just a grand-slam. Joyful nostalgia in a nutshell i look forward to seeing more in the future!!!!!!!!
I remember being so upset when my save data in 2 and 3 got completely corrupted and wiped. So many years gone just like that. I think I just stopped playing after that, and I kinda regret it because of how important these games were to me. Thanks for this amazing video to remind me how important these games were in my life.
This game means and has meant so much to me growing up, i spent hours with my brother as a child playing it, more so than minecraft and I hold those memories and the nostalgia i get from the soundtrack very close to my heart. i genuinely think its influence from a young age is why i am now studying at art school and dreaming of working in the games industry eventually. i cried at multiple points in this video because it just means so much to me. amazing video thank you :') long live the sea monster survival level i played over and over again
11:49 everything you've done in the level creator brings back SOO MUCH MEMORIES when I used to play it with my family, they were pretty annoying tho but that made it more fun
never thought i'd feel this sad after watching the whole thing, brings back alot of memories i was 18 when LBP 1 was released and omg i was annoyingly obsessed with it, my ps3 was working 24/7 when me and my lil sisters playing it all the time. the fact that the series is officially dead breaks my heart, im so happy you made this time machine video so i can relive those little moments that i will never forget :)
This franchise was such a core memory for me, I grew up mostly playing Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 2 and 3 so ocarina of time, battlefront 2, Lego Star Wars, resistance fall of man and little big planet were like my go to games until I got a bit older and ended up with an Xbox 360. My fondest memories were just going through community levels for hours and some could be like as simple as a costume tutorial or up to like a full blown mini campaign, the community was so insane! Also the satisfying sound design of the point and prize bubbles, the soundtrack, even sackboy exploding when you needed to restart from checkpoint are all just etched into my brain and this video brought that all back to the forefront again, I loved listening to you go on and on raving about how awesome this series was! Amazing retrospective and good luck with your future videos man, you deserve the views!
Amazing video! Glad you also covered the side-games, despite being overlooked they were a big part of the community at the time. I played the game primarily as a creator and, since my family moved around a ton, it was my only avenue of making long-term friends growing up. It's hard to emphasize just how influential LBP was for young game developers. I met so many great community members on forums such as LBPcentral and Sackinima and there would always be big collaborations and competitions going on. LBP was such a brilliant lightning-in-a-bottle experience that hit the market at the perfect time. Seeing your footage of those older community levels really smacked me with nostalgia. I really miss those days of surfing levels and diving-in to random pods. A lot of people jumped from LBP3 to Dreams in the hopes that Mm could strike gold again. They mostly did, Dreams is a groundbreaking development platform, but it unfortunately made creating way less approachable with it's complexity. Dreams didn't have coop create or a "Sackboy" mascot to carry it, so there was no real incentive to mess around and experiment like the LBP games. It wasn't UGC anymore, just straight-up videogame development. Because of this, a lot of the viral content was really low-effort meme fluff making it just as difficult to find hidden gems as LatinPlayer made it in LBP2 (God I haven't thought of that name in years). Yes, Mm still used the same tools to create their campaign, but unlike LBP you really needed an entire development team to match the same quality. Some were able to pull it off, but most got nowhere close. As most here already know, and right after this video was uploaded, Dreams drastically limited its server capacity after years of struggling to maintain a sizable audience. They confirmed there would be no more updates for official events going forward. I believe all the Mm founders have left the company so it's hard to say how the next generation will hold the company up. The game is now free on PS+ with a great expansion as a send-off, but outside of a handful of dedicated creators the community is essentially left for dead. I'm sad kids these days won't be able to experience just how amazing LBP was on release, but UGC is way more accessible nowadays and platforms like Fortnite, Mario Maker, and Roblox are keeping the genre alive (even if one of those are exploiting young developers and creating gambling addictions... but that's an entirely separate discussion). I'm more than happy to remember LBP for the wonderful community it cultivated and how those people carry those memories to this day. No amount of shitty ports, hacking, or divergent spin-offs will take that away.
I met a few of my greatest friends because of LittleBigPlanet. It's really unfortunate that the game won't be coming back but I'll always cherish the memories.
Little Big Planet was my first video game on my first game console. I spent so many hours playing these games with my friends and by myself after school. I didn't even realize how much nostalgia I had for this game series. This video made me remember what a big part of my childhood it was. Thanks for the video! It brought back a lot of good memories
I’m so sad that I never got to experience the peak of little big planet. I only got it after it died down and I remember thinking it was really unpopular because nobody I knew or online would talk about it anymore. My brother and I absolutely LOVED this game as a kid and it will forever be my favorite game.
the blast of nostalgia and joy i got watching this video was insane. pure childhood bliss. makes me so happy to see how many people still love this game as much as i do:)
ACTUALLY pretty sick?!? Nah they were ABSOLUTELY amazing. I came home after elementary school everyday and played it with my friends from school, the most fun I’ve head in a looong time
I got the PSP with Little Big Planet in 2010 on christmas and this game had me going crazy for it. The soundtracks when jumping through the levels, the stickers you placed along the way, the bubbles you found in hidden places, the worlds you created for you and maybe your friends for you to enjoy together. All that encapsulated in a visually striking, beautifully narrated story of an unusal hero. LBP is such a gem.
LBP and Katamari are my comfort games. LBP was something else because it first slowly reminded you of being a kid using your imagination and creativity. Then handed you the keys to do the same and encouraged you to share. I want a nice big return of both, with new things
Finally someone covers these absolute gems.. You really did a great job of covering each of the distinct 'eras' of LBP. The LBP2 section in particular was super well done. Great job!
whoa, bucket! i was finally waiting for a retrospective like this. it's a shame you don't have more subscribers because this shit absolutely rocks, from audio to editing. i was really enjoying the gameplay and things you put in the background as well to Simulate My Eyeballs. this is such a good video!! :D edit: also watching ninja cat is so worth it. i know you have no interest in watching it but it was genuinely one of the most formative memories in my childhood lmfao
I saw this video and cried. My introduction ( I’m a 2012 baby) to this game franchise was my dad giving me a controller he thought was turned off, then realising I was controlling his character while trying to eat the joysticks, then when I was about 5 THIS game was the first one I properly played and in 2020, Covid hits, me and my sister start playing this game together, getting through quarantine, no boredom, because of the 4 people that wanted to make an idea into a spark. A spark that would light up my life in the gaming world. Then my dad completed the last level with me of the first game and soon after got LBP Karting+ LBP 2 which me and my sister banded together to complete and we truly did. First few months of having them they were done. Now I’m on PS5 instead of PS3 (still own the PS3 dw) and one day saw LBP 3 on PS plus and knew I had to have it so instantly downloaded it and now it is completed. If any of you have read all of this, thanks .😁
the bit about all you doing in creative being making the sponge structures with rockets was so relatable. most of my time in the first game was in creative doing this with friends and nearly peeing ourselves laughing
I laughed everytime you talked about what you did in create mode, cause I quite literally did exactly the same things. With the floaty foam, I made it just light enough to ride it to the top, then grabbed it from the bottom and slowly floated down. 😂
Oh wow, my notifications must’ve been wack for not getting to know about this video sooner. Excellent work and I’m glad to see that you have grown pretty fast.
Man, I miss this game so much. I used to have so much fun with my little brother doing random stuff on the moon. Damn I feel like an old man reminiscing about them good ol' days lol
Real happy to see people still talking about LBP even today. More specifically LBP2 as that game was pretty much my childhood. Like, it would take up all my free time when I was younger even if we had new games to play. Something about it just kept making me want to come back. And that was mostly due in part with the community content which you would never run out of. I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one who loved it as much as I do. Also that Mortal Kombat level was copied to hell and back if I remember correctly. It got so bad that I never actually new who originally made it lmao.
I literally loved these game so much I was never good at video games but this series of games just instilled so much passion for me and I was actually good at playing them I’m so happy it’s being talked about
I´m only halfway through the video but I just wanted to thank you for making it. LBP was a big part of my childhood, I played it constantly between 2009 and 2012, and it brings so many happy memories. When I found last year that the online servers where shut down I felt sad. A part (a digital part) of my life got erased, and there is no way to get it back. But videos like this, that celebrate what an awesome and creative game it was, and the community that it created, brings me so much joy. Again, thank you. Long live Little Big Planet 💜
LBP was literally my childhood, I played the game every single day of my life, it’s where I found most of my best friends today, and I even have friends who met their now spouses on there. Some of my old friends never came back online, and I’ll never find them ever again, but it’s about the times we had on there! Sometimes I go back on it but it’ll never be the same after online servers were shut down. I actually played from 2013 to the very day the servers started messing up. Will always be my favourite game of all time (sorry for being deep LBP was quite literally a huge impact on me)
I will ALWAYS hope for a LBP4 after how eh LBP3 was, but I know there is such little chance of it ever happening. So instead I’ll just watch these videos about others talking about how much they loved it too!!
I played LBP 3 once on my friend's playstation and somehow it got stuck in my brain so much that I decided to spend an hour watching this video, and you know, I don't regret it.
it's nice to find someone who has the same love for this game
Yeah dude this game rocks
Exactly it gets me all hyper and happy like i just wanna go and play like a kid again
I love these games too!!
Tell me about it
Love it to
I miss coming home after school, and playing this for hours...
Me too
yes
Yep!
real
Had a 30 min game limit because my parents thought I was addicted... and tbh I wasn't, I functioned normally but lbp was literally my soul and passion as a child lmao
i was born and raised on this franchise, so a full HOUR LONG analysis about it, and one made oh so recently, makes me have more faith that this game and it's series may still see the light of day once again!
🤝
It's literally the first game I've ever played, damn I love this series.
I was like 9 or 10 years old when I played this, I’m 17 now and I still enjoy it for everything

YES!!!
I don't think you quite understand the sheer amount core memories you have unlocked in people. Fucking great work, this game lives forever in my heart.
Me and my brother used to play this game for hours with all the different worlds people would make.
This ❤️
Twenty-seven years old here!
I loooooooooove LBP, we need a 4th one before our civilisation collapses.
@@Seby_sebasbro what, proof?
There are rumors floating around, but nothing concrete yet.
(I don't remember exactly what he said, but he's so laid-back that it's probably what he said.)
this guys dad might be the chad meme, but in real life
i have the exact same core memory, i came home and he gave it to me the week it came out. wasn't a reward, he just knew i wanted it so bad because of how much i liked LBP1. and LPB2 was the game i loved the most in my childhood. isn't it kinda cool how similar core memories can be with total strangers?
I remember when playstation went down and everyone could download littlebigplanet and infamous 1 when it came back on those were good times man.
There's a project called Restitched trying to do that. They haven't released anything public yet but it looks interesting
@@XecularOfficial The fan project was put down by Sony because of copyright
@@kindertak5396 It wasn't put down, they just rebranded it. The project is still being worked on

Lbp 3??
Little Big Planet was one of my earliest memories of having time together with my brother, the others being Borderlands and White Knight Chronicles. These games were our holy trinity because we could play them for hours without a single argument. They hold such a precious place in my heart.
LittleBigPlanet*
Finally some who just GETS… these games just as much as I do. And the weird amount of things that we have in common just reminds me of the old things about these games back in the day. Like this being from my memory the first video game I ever played, all I did in creative mode in the first 2 games was throw down those floaty blocks and let them send me to the level ceiling, And agreeing that the lbp karting final boos track absolutely fucking slapped. I AM YOU lmao. This video was very well put together and your channel definitely deserves some more attention.
Everyone has a clone, they just dont know yet, and this comment pretty much sumarizes that
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO USED TO DO THE THING WITH THE FLOATY BLOCKS
@@tinyalternate nah probably everyone has done it at some point.
Remember the 2nd last level of lbp 1?
I actually hard reset from raging from that very level, and yet it was still so fun to beat.
I know right
I'm still an active creator and a veteran of almost 15 years, setting on making my stories into full 90 minute movies.
What’s your username? I’ll literally go home tonight and play some of your levels 😁
to hear that you still play it and that you´re a "veteran" is awesome.
Can't tell you how much i appreciate that dude, thank you!
And next you're telling me that you made a bounce pad house in LBP2.

Thank you SO MUCH for this video
I grew up being a very physically sick child that spent most of her free time indoors, and LBP was the thing I always looked forward to each day ever since I can remember.
I spent countless hours on it just making friends, playing the same 10-or-so levels over and over again and even after weeks and months of just doing that it always was just as much fun as it was the very first time around, simply because it was something I could do with friends, with people that I liked spending time with, with people that liked spending time with me.
The franchise itself shaped me massively into the person I am today and it holds a really special place in my heart, it was there for my first "relationship" and my first heartbreak about two weeks later, it was there when I couldn't sleep at night and could simply hop into other people's game to not feel as alone and anxious, I played it all the way up to my late teens to calm me down during finals, it taught me to be creative with the things I have around me and showed me that there was so much beauty and joy to be found in simple everday items
The music, the stories, the overall atmosphere it created was so utterly comforting and freeing that even to this day the soundtrack makes me feel like a kid again, huddled in blankets on a rainy day and spending my time talking to friends and playing silly levels we made together, not needing to grow up just yet.
So really, thank you for this video, because it made me sob very happy tears not even ten minutes in :')
Let's hope that someday we'll get to feel that nice, comforting feeling again. Let's not grow up entirely just yet, let's just enjoy this childish freedom a little longer.
Oml I literally love your comment so much. So glad so many of us had such happy memories with these games :)
@@BucketBard I absolutely agree! I also just found out about Little Big Infinite, so there's still hope! ^^
It's really inspiring to see so many people refusing to accept this defeat and keep fighting for what they love ♡
Okay??? Thanks for the info? Lol what? 😂

So fun to see other people who loved the game!
the quality of the video to views and likes ratio needs to be raised like theres no way this good of a video can get this little recognition good job man
Hey thanks dude! I'll get my lucky break someday ig ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for making this vid
i have such fond memories of these games. it's so nice to hear someone talk about them who enjoyed them as much as i did :)
:)
It hurts
did anyone else tear up when watching this or just me and also think about life.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
This game is great if you have siblings.
Yeah it is! my two brothers and I would always play this together when we were younger. I've got them to thank for my love for this game
I wish I could rewind time to experience it all over again.
finding someone else have a big comfort for this game is amazing. i grew up without people knowning this game (i have no idea why). this game was my whole childhood, i had the best memories with my dad playing with him, and each time i open the game i can feel how 4 year old me would just spend time trying his best to learn how to use a controller at such a young age. LBP was surely something else, and jeez. im extremely happy that i grew up with it, it helped me a lot. tysm, this video helped me so much to bring back memories
this game was a massive part of my childhood, glad to see that you also haven't let go of this forgotten jem of a game
Neat!)
That's actually really cool that you share a birthday haha!
unironically, LBP creation mode tutorials covered some of the basics of programming, explaining many simple and yet vital logic gates.
Genuinely, this franchise is what got me into software development.
3:30 that little music line is so nostalgic its made me tear up
Me and my brother could never remember how we got that 2D yellow head costume in the first game, or what the hell it was. I never expected to find out such a strong explanation here, what a fantastic video!
Lbp 1 will forever be a safety blanket for me, im still trying to refind my disk rn
I miss the old days of LBP 1 and 2 but the only comfort I got is knowing that even if the community is not that active anymore, LBP will always be in our minds and memories, forever 🥺
( and btw I’m sorry for the bad English 😅 )

This game means and has meant so much to me growing up, i spent hours with my brother as a child playing it, more so than minecraft and I hold those memories and the nostalgia i get from the soundtrack very close to my heart. i genuinely think its influence from a young age is why i am now studying at art school and dreaming of working in the games industry eventually. i cried at multiple points in this video because it just means so much to me. amazing video thank you :')
long live the sea monster survival level i played over and over again
Also whoever made the "Shark attack" or "Takeshi castle" levels are the goats hours of fun
11:49 everything you've done in the level creator brings back SOO MUCH MEMORIES when I used to play it with my family, they were pretty annoying tho but that made it more fun
never thought i'd feel this sad after watching the whole thing, brings back alot of memories
i was 18 when LBP 1 was released and omg i was annoyingly obsessed with it, my ps3 was working 24/7 when me and my lil sisters playing it all the time. the fact that the series is officially dead breaks my heart, im so happy you made this time machine video so i can relive those little moments that i will never forget :)
This was super fun to watch! Really makes me wish that I had played little big planet when I was a kid
I came home after elementary school everyday and played it with my friends from school, the most fun I’ve head in a looong time
The lack of attention on this video is criminal, i love this video, a flawless cinematic masterpiece.
oh my gosh thanks so much bro
Great job!
Thanks dude :D
sackboy in lbp4: *cmon thanos we dont have all day we gotta save quba from mario and luigi*
Every little big planet introduction scene gives me chills.
whoa, bucket! i was finally waiting for a retrospective like this. it's a shame you don't have more subscribers because this shit absolutely rocks, from audio to editing. i was really enjoying the gameplay and things you put in the background as well to Simulate My Eyeballs. this is such a good video!! :D
edit: also watching ninja cat is so worth it. i know you have no interest in watching it but it was genuinely one of the most formative memories in my childhood lmfao
Thank you so much! Had a ton of fun making this, glad it found an audience!
We could not have lbp4, but the closer thing we can get is "restitched" this game is a lbp4
Me and my brother played LBP 3 over quarantine also. We literally did the shark survival for hours on end :) Glad you liked it man!
Thanks for replying and me and my sister played the shark survival on LBP 3 also ( still play it today I’d I can)
ME TOO ! @@BucketBard
the bit about all you doing in creative being making the sponge structures with rockets was so relatable.
most of my time in the first game was in creative doing this with friends and nearly peeing ourselves laughing
Thanks man!
@@BucketBard no problem.
Man, I miss this game so much. I used to have so much fun with my little brother doing random stuff on the moon. Damn I feel like an old man reminiscing about them good ol' days lol
THE LATINPLAYER10 SEGMENT OH MY GOD THIS TAKES ME BACK
I always thought these games were so beautiful, that was my favourite part about them.
I literally loved these game so much I was never good at video games but this series of games just instilled so much passion for me and I was actually good at playing them I’m so happy it’s being talked about
I missed out on the franchise back in the day. But I have an appreciation for them nonetheless. R.I.P to the OG map making game
This was my go to game in the early 2010's, brings back so many memories. Especially the level at 27:20, could play that one for hours.
“I attached thrusters to sponges” well I attached thrusters at max speed to sponges
This game was my childhood. I'm so glad that other people appreciate this game as much as I do.
Thanks for this, was very nostalgic. LBP was my childhood and got me into programming :)
I played LBP 3 once on my friend's playstation and somehow it got stuck in my brain so much that I decided to spend an hour watching this video, and you know, I don't regret it.
