HP Omen 16 Transcend: Is one stand-out feature enough?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 лип 2024
- The latest edition to HP's Omen Gaming Line-Up, the Omen 16 Transcend is a well-made, sleek-looking, relatively thin notebook that aims to take on similarly equipped laptops, like the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i, MSI Stealth 16 Studio or XMG Pro 16 Studio.
While it is a strong performer, its one stand-out feature is its 240Hz MiniLED panel, which you simply can not find in the competition.
If that's is enough, we will tell you in our video, and for much more information, please head over to our website:

Very great channel and great review. A regular viewer and subscriber,
Currently I am typing this with my HP OMEN 15, AMD Ryzen 5800H, RTX 3060, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 100 SRGB, 300-350 Nits, 70WHr Battery, 1Type C, 3 Type A, Full SD card Reader, Intel non removable WiFi AX 200 and 2 nvme SSD Slots, 200 Watt Charger, purchased in 2021 December. It is a great machine and HP provides great after sales service. It is a portable PC for me since I value performance and also little gaming, mostly Halo Infinite Multiplayer. Runs cool, quiet, very stable with all the drivers up to date and very comfortable to use as never gives any trouble. Really, there is more than mere specs on paper that makes for a great device and great PC experience.
you guys make great videos!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
What happened to the Predator Triton 17x full review? Did I miss it?
Nope, still waiting for a review sample ...
Thank you for review. Quick question; I’m a PWM sensitive so how is the screen about it? My region has the same model but scaring of PWM. I’ve used asus oled and didn’t work for me sadly. Appreciate your hard work.
Hi there, you are more than welcome.
We measured a PWM frequency of 3506 Hz, which is much higher than what you would normally get on an OLED, for example.
But since you are sensitive to it, I recommend trying before buying, or ordering somewhere with easy returns!
@@NotebookcheckReviews Thank you for your fast response. You really saved my life as returning a laptop after buying it in my region is too hard so no buy at all. I’ve had problems with even apple 14-16” miniled lines which has around 14.000-16.000Hz. I will take a look at 500 nits 240hz ips LCD panel laptops then.. appreciated tons again guys. Keep it up!
Does mini-LED version even exist outside of reviews? Can't find a trace of it online at HP or actual retailers. There's even an OLED version with 240hz and edge to edge glass mentioned on the omen website! Another fantasy...
It does
But it may depend on regional availability
Its available here in Indonesia
Hey,
I have an MSI stealth studio 16 and it only ramps the GPU up to 105w. Which version of the MSI Stealth 16 Studio is the one in the 3D Mark Performance rating? 5:13
The very same!
The power limit for the 4070 in the Stealth 16 Studio is always the same!
@@NotebookcheckReviews Oh okay, so the one you have is also 105w not 120w? I'm only asking because the the 3D Mark performance rating graph states MSI Stealth 16 Studio 4070 @ 120W
Oh damn, that was a mistake on my part! It is supposed to be 105W, sorry about that!
How is the Mini LED compared to the Lenovo Legion 9i? They both have Mini LED displays?
It seems that both brands have a big premium for the mini LED.
The Legion is, of course, higher-res (3.2k vs. QHD+), but the Omen is quite a bit faster 240Hz vs. 165Hz. The Legion is slightly better calibrated, but overall, the Omen is better when it comes to raw specs.
It looks like they just updated this for 2024. It now ships with a (2560 x 1600), OLED, 240 Hz panel.
Yo I have a question, do you have this issue: when you put the charger into your computer your screen becomes black?
If it is only for a few seconds, that its most likely the screen changing from 60Hz on battery to a higher refresh.
Ok ok thank you. So you confirm you don’t have any black screen issue when you plug it in to charge it ?
I got an Asus Zephyrus M16 with a 4070 for $1499. My main use is to game AAA titles. Is this laptop good enough, I could only find reviews on the 4080 and 4090.
It sounds like a solid deal, and the differences between individual 4070s are pretty marginal. So, if you are OK with 4070 performance, this should fit your needs well.
@@NotebookcheckReviews thank you
thank u
Planning to buy this until I saw in some posts that it can only support a single SSD. Unless you can slide an full 8TB of SSD without any clearance issues, it's not everybody's first choice which is a shame.
I feel you, too bad they took away the second NVME slot ...
But that display ... :O
@@NotebookcheckReviews true. Not sure a win win somewhere 😂
As always, pick your poison ;)
@@joelconolly5574 ASUS M16 is the winner. 1,024 zone 1100 nit mini-LED display with dual SSD slots, upgradeable RAM, and up to an RTX 4090 laptop GPU.
Hey NotebookCheckReviews I finally found a review on the Acer Predator Triton 17x (2023) model and it did not disappoint probably best all around laptop of the year!
Sounds promising!
Who did the test? Care sharing the link and source?
Why does no one do yhis but for audio workstation. All the games now have yhe same mechanics since 1999 and people still buy them
Most likely because there are a lot more gamers out there, than audio people.
And while I get your frustration, gaming has come a long way in the last 20-some years! ;)
Guys... Any giveaways coming soon?
I really need a laptop
Sorry bud, unfortunately not!
Damn the battery life sucks, HP made some changes with the CPU recently with 14th gen intel HX cpus and an OLED panel configuration but 13th gen and 14th gen are pretty much the same. Its unfortunate that the battery life is poor as i cant seem to find an OLED laptop with a Nvidia gpu and stellar battery life other than a very expenive asus model and one msi model that compirmise's the GPU for battery.
To bad we cant disconnect the keyboard à Z13 style
Well, that is the case for 98% of gaming notebooks out there! ;)
why that ugly chin at the bottom? Why can't they do something similar to lenovo legion slim 7i? Everything else about this laptop is just perfect!
Also, I need a thin and light laptop with 120hz display (just for that smooth feeling) for college. Which one do you suggest? (Price is not an issue and I prefer bigger displays)
While it is not that pretty, I don't mind it too much.
As for your question, you can check the ones I mentioned in the video, or if you want something sleeker, maybe the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9is or the Zenbook Pro 16X?!
@@NotebookcheckReviews Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will go for the lenovo yoga 9i pro (16inch version)
Good choice, it's a solid machine.
The chin is seamless compared to a lot of other chins. The legions have a two toned chin AND an extended rear. I don't like it either but the alternative is Asus which has a very cheap looking frame and awful gamer aesthetics or MSI with strange cutouts or unsightly huge gaps.
The one hard drive slot makes this a hard no
Sorry but OLED displays are still superior. Unless you’re playing outdoors which makes no sense, OLED displays are more than bright enough.
2,500$ for 4070??? 😂 Asus Stix G16 with 4080, mini LED, 32GB RAM, i9-13980HX costs the same!
It is in line with the competition. You cannot judge the price of any laptop just by its GPU since there are many more factors at play.
@@NotebookcheckReviews yeah, mini led + i9, but still not worthy :( slim 7 would be much cheaper :)
Well, other notebooks are always the option if you do not think the added CPU performance or the screens make this one worth it. :)
You're too rational 😗Let me have some fun :D Asus Strix G16 with 4080 and mini LED display is 2,500$@@NotebookcheckReviews
haha fair point.
You mean the Strix Scar G16? As far as I know there is no Asus 18" model with MiniLED panel.
One thing that would make me not consider this laptop is the big bottom chin, even though it's a 16 by 10 the chin is just too big I can't live with it😢
You guys are obsessed with Laptop chins 😅
@@NotebookcheckReviews It's simple... Just like Phones... Huge bezzels = Huge turn off
I get it from a visual/design standpoint, but for me personally, it would never be a deciding factor for a buying decision.
@@NotebookcheckReviews I guess I value screens to much 😂
Thats perfectly fine! :)
Omg price in europ … 😂 👎
Yeah, prices over here are pretty rough these days!
Why do HP keep designing these big bottom chins? It would be such a nice compact laptop if it would be a bit smaller. And it could be smaller.
Well, they have sacrificed one NVME slot already, so maybe they did not have much additional headroom to make it smaller.
Which might also have made it more expensive.
@@NotebookcheckReviews i'm thinking mainly the depth of the chassis which is increased by the chin. Either way, I think HP made some weird design choices with this one. Besides the chin, they used the HX processor, which doesn't have good battery life. So we have a thin and relatively light laptop, which comes equipped with a DTR CPU. By the way, I have seen this in white and it looks gorgeous.
Precisely, the more depth you have in the chassis, the more space you have for the mobo and cooling, for example. I think they put together something different, which is a good thing. I also think the main culprit for the short battery life is the display.
Huge chin ruins this device, its all over absolutely stunning… until you see the chin
