One of my favorite category in repair. Dead unit and step by step checking of power rails before giving conclusion to the device. Keep it up sir, i learn a lot from your videos. Repair Tech from PH.

I soldered my first eeprom for a lcd tv this morning. This was my first venture into replacing an smd component. You sir, make it appear pretty easy. It is not. I need to thank the guy at the local computer repair store near me, for the small tube of no clean flux. It saved my tail after lifting and bridging two pads. Got the pads separated and back where they needed to sit. I learned a hot enough iron(I dont have air) and flux are very important. Your videos are great inspiration to believe I could try. Job done, big smile and on to the next one!

I am just a beginner at micro soldering, and my weakest area is in diagnostics. I've learned a lot from your videos on the usefulness of the visual inspection of components, and loved this one on following the schematics. (I'm sort of glad I don't do Macbook repair!) Thank you for sharing

Some extra kudos to you - unlike some other channels, no foul language here; down to earth and to the point; strong diagnosis; results - thank you for the nice video

Liked and subscribed! Really loved watching the entire video. It's awesome to watch you follow the diagram, read the values and then measure the values on the board. Obviously you have experience, because I would not have known to look for example to the current resistors and that chip. Thanks!

I am so glad you answered a question that I have been wondering for a long time about what happens when resistors go bad. I took a lot of notes at iPad rehab and maybe it was covered but that just didn't stick in my head of how they act. I was also making mistakes in my macbook repairs when I didn't check the resistors while the power is one Thank You so much!!!

Yep, without diagram this was a no fix! Because you can’t test every single resistor!
You can still track the power rail though!
Every time I see that good component level repair I feel really good, this should be done everywhere! Absolutely love it 😍 that’s amazing!

Nice troubleshooting, NF 👍. Many boards are scrapped unnecessarily due to lack of logical troubleshooting. The hackers might correctly replace a dead chip, but fail to troubleshoot, and miss the damaged passives. They give up. Client loses.

Love watching your channel, keep up the good work. I just wanted to share a thought about the general topic of your channel. It feels so good to repair things that were complex and looked like they were basically broken. I imagine you get that feeling too? I guess you make some money from these videos, so I can't say it's 'for free', but considering we the viewers do not pay out of our pockets, it's a fair trade with everyone winning here, obviously some more than others (google), but just wanted to appreciate your sharing of expertise.

Logical troubleshooting is usually faster than educated guesses. After much experience, educated guesses are fast but still check. It avoids getting confused when you guess incorrectly. If we don't have a stack of doners, guessing gets expensive and time-consuming.

Do you have any videos for the same mpb but with a slow flashing green ? I recently replaced a battery and mag safe charger (port as well) and machine is still not charging. Prior to the battery swap and replacement charger, light would stay green and lightning bolt would show charging but indicator lights on the side were blank. With the new charger it will pulse between charging and not (charging indicators) but shoes battery not charging on screen

A little bit concerned that three resistors failed. Resistors don’t usually fail for no reason. Is there some problem on the board that is blowing those resistors? I know you are trying to work quickly but perhaps a little bit too quick?

How you enter search criteria in Google will improve chance of finding factory service data. Use keywords like "service manual", "repair", "schematic" and ".pdf" with model number of device (like your DVD player). Check OEM's website for support documents. Look for identifying information printed on the boards and search it; a lot of OEM's use subsections that are readily available from third party manufacturers (e.g. logic boards, power supplies, motor controllers, audio amplifiers and LED drivers). If you cannot find service data, then get pencil and paper and reverse engineer device yourself. GOOD LUCK.

Due to Apple's litigious one does not post where to download schematics but if you use Google or other search engine you no doubt will get results. Some schematics are hard to find.
