    This video made me think about our problem properly and led our man to find a GFCI receptacle in a rarely used small powder room in the east wing of my home that happened to be tripped after a recent storm! This one fed several bathroom outlets in the upper floors of that wing and we had been round and round! Thanks so much. 😅

    This video helped me solve one of the great mysteries of the house we bought. The outdoor outlets were fine. However, they were connected to a light switch inside the house (that seemed to light nothing). I reset the outlets and we have full power!

    Troubleshooting. Turn off the circuit if you have it identified. Pull the plug out of the box but leave it connected. Turn the power back on and check to see if you have a hot at the gfci. If you do turn the power back off. If there's a second set of wires coming off the outlet remove the wire below the incoming hot. Turn the power back on and try to reset the outlet. If it resets the issue is down the line. If it doesn't reset then replace the gfci.

    Very well explained thank you! - I was trying to reset the GFCI and nothing was happening, it was only after your video I realized I should have the disposal switch on the ON position before trying to reset it. This may be obvious for many people - but not for me - so I THANK YOU very much Mr. Remote Electrician!! We were jumping to conclusions and thinking the main circuit board was out, the main fuse, the insfinketator was out (and then of course there was all the family blame on who used it last and broke it LOL)... Thank you again for helping me and my family maintain peace in the household.

    Well I'll be damned! My disposal failed permitting water into the motor housing and spilling under the sink. I ran to home depot and bought a disposal and installed the new one. Still didn't work. I plugged the disposal into a different plug and the disposal was fine. Figuring my GFCI failed, I ran to home depot and bought a new outlet. After installing the new GFCI outlet and it still wasn't working, I thought I had an issue with the switch maybe. Came to UA-cam to get an idea about what it could be. This was the first video I watched and... Bing! Bang! Boom! Done! My disposal is working. How freaking easy. Thanks buddy!

    QUESTION: The bathroom GFCI worked fine for many years. But it recently tripped. The "Power" still works. The "Reset" button is sticking out while the "Test" button is pushed in. But, when I press the "Reset" button to try to make it so the "Reset" button is pushed in again, the "Reset" button will not remain pushed into the wall. I then tried resetting everything at the Circuit Box. But, this didn't solve anything. Do you have any advice? ... Also, as a replacement, should I get the 15 Amp or 20 Amp?

    Hi! I have an outlet in a room that's tripped when I plugged in a vacuum. Tried to reset the GFCI outlet in the bathroom near by and the GFCI outlets in the kitchen across from the room. Also, reset all the circuit breakers, but nothing worked. This outlet has tripped before by another tenant when she plugged a portable AC to it. The outlet next to it and the bedroom light that is in the same bedroom is also out. It would take a few weeks before it automatically turned on by itself. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong with this outlet. Please help! Thank you.

      Hi Kevin. Outlets in the bedroom or living are not protected by gfci. 99% chance it's lose wiring in one of those outlets, (when outlets wired as daisy chain if one fails power stops going to the rest of the outlets in that chain) I'd test all non working outlets with plug tester to define if that's the case.(open neural, open hot) and power tester.

However I was cooking using the regular outlet on my middle kitchen island and using my air fryer on the wall with the gfci and all of a sudden they both stop working. Went outside to check to see if breaker tripped and nothing. However, I still reset the kitchen since I only have 2 GFCI in the kitchen. Weird thing is my refrigerator did not stop working. However even after the reset to breaker wall gfci will not click. The island outlet still not working but the dishwasher has no problem and it’s in the island. What am I missing here? GFCI will not reset, outlets next to Gfci not working and the island outlet not working so that’s 3 outlets out in kitchen

      The outlets "downline" from the GFCI outlets were working fine until the outlet was tripped due to an overload. After resetting the GFCI outlet reset there is no power to the downline outlets even though the GFCI breaker in the breaker panel and the GDCI main outlet has power. Could the "load"side of the GFCI outlet be bad and that GFCI outlet needs to be replaced?

    Is it normal for there to be two GFCI outlets side by side? There's two in the kitchen; one clicks when you press "Test" and "Reset" and the other not only doesn't click but the "Test" button can't be pressed at all.
    My problem is a power outage in a single bedroom and one light in the kitchen - seem to randomly go out together. Last month they went out for an entire week and then suddenly began working again, only to cut off two weeks later. I've tried twitching the circuit breaker but that didn't work either :/

    • @remoteelectrician
      @remoteelectrician  5 місяців тому +2

      you need to hire someone on-site to troubleshoot both cases. yes sometimes there're 2-3 gfci but it depends. bed outlets you have loose wire somewhere in the chain of that circuit.

    Weeks…. Weeks I’ve been without lights in my bathroom because we can’t figure it out.
    I’ve reset the breaker, the other outlets work, the bulb isn’t broken 😞
    Today I get out my voltmeter to see what’s going on. The GFCI isn’t grounding because it’s “popped” and there’s no V across positive either, but shared ground and positive terminal does have voltage flowing when the light switch it turned on. I turn the light switch off again and go back to trying to reset it, figuring the reset mechanism must be broken and I’m going to have to get the whole outlet replaced 😢 and I come here for one last shot to see if there’s anything I can do, and this man solves my entire problem in less than 100 seconds! 😂
