Diversity is NOT a Strength. It WEAKENS Society, Research Clearly Shows

  • We are constantly told that "Diversity is our greatest strength". But where is the evidence? In fact there is little to none. It's a faith-based mantra. The scientific, sociological & economic research shows that, far from being a strength, increased diversity divides societies and weakens social cohesion, trust, civic engagement and levels of happiness (amongst many other negatives).
When combined with mass immigration & the failed policy of multiculturalism it leads to super diversity, a phenomenon we now see in our major cities. Super diversity is our greatest dilemma, and one of our greatest weaknesses.
New Culture Forum Senior Fellow Rafe Heydel-Mankoo delivers a speech at the New Culture Forum's 2023 conference on Immigration.

In my neighborhood, we were basically all the same. The most important thing was that we had the same rulebook. We knew what was appropriate and what was expected. If someone was having a problem, we could go to our neighbors for help. If the kids were out playing, we all kept an eye on them. If something was left outside, no one took it. We waved at people as they drove by. If a kid was starting to get into trouble, we all knew it and we were all on the alert. Then we slowly had diversity. The new "different" neighbors did not talk to us. If they showed up at school or community events, they kept to themselves and their own group and did not assimilate into the community. If someone needed help, they were not available. If something was left out, it disappeared. They did not think it was a problem to play their music loudly and at night and disturb their neighbors. As more move in to our area, we are no longer a close-knit community, but wary of each other. They know all their rules of their culture and we are considered outsiders, and sitting ducks for plunder. We were raised "do unto others". Apparently, they were raised, "Get away with as much as you can".

@@susudarake ...one additional thought, if you are doing research for a paper. You need to consider this issue in a broader scope, not just reduced to members of a certain religion, people or race. The "get away with as much as you can" principle coupled with isolationist tendencies is going to be, to a greater or lesser extent, inherent to all immigrants coming from lower income / lower GDP societies than yours. This attitude is an inevitable consequence of having been born and raised in a less than comfortable society, and it is going to be the more pronounced the less comfortable the economy of origin.
I myself am from the Balcans; an atheist from an 85% catholic country. One thing that amazed me when living in California as an exchange post doc was the clothes, the iPhones and similar stuff left at bus stations, that sat there for days waiting for whoever lost them to pick them up. Not even the homeless people were interested in nabbing a lost iPhone because they apparently had their own phone. In the Balcans, it's finders keepers mentality and while the probability of being robbed in the street is practically zero; lost stuff gets found. And taken. Immediately. This is because an iPhone and even a T-shirt has a MUCH greater value in the poor, low income area of the Balcans than it does in CA, even if they cost roughly the same. We're all citizens of the world and we share the same values, but we DEFINE those values differently in accordance to our own circumstances.
Now have I taken the stuff I found in CA? No, because I was ashamed to, because no one else did. But, had I seen other Balcaners do it, if there were 200 not just 2 of us... I might have. Because THEN, I'd have felt stupid not to - I mean why am I leaving it here if in 10 minutes someone else will take it anyway?
Now if there WERE 200 of us, the locals would quickly figure out what we were like and who's taking all the lost stuff. And the social trust goes down, but because they don't like us and don't trust us, we isolate and don't assimilate. So even honest kind good people like me end up being unapproachable and cold and exhibiting behaviour they would normally not exhibit were they not in the pack.
And AT HOME, you'd see us as very different people. We're not thieves or anything, it's just that if you lose something, you won't find it. Unless you lost it somewhere close to home, in which case people will take it and make sure you get it back. We're a tourist country that sells expensive tourism on account of safety. We rely on each other as described in the video above, and we have our own immigrants coming from other countries with lower income and gdp than ours and creating integration issues and social distrust as described above.

How would people in Islamabad, Pakistan or Tehran, Iran feel if 25% of those cities were filled with Chinese immigrants ? Naturally, they would object to such a diverse, multicultural society vehemently. Yet, many less developed countries expect the British to comply to uncontrolled immigration in the name of liberal humanity. I don't think so. Something I'm very familiar with is rock bands.
    Hear me out.
I've been in bands for over 45 years and one thing I've experienced is that the band only works if it has like-minded people, people who are on the same page.
It doesn't matter how great a group of people are at musicianship, if they don't have similar goals the band will be in conflict over artistic aims.
This is what happens in society as a whole.
If someone thinks it's ok to kill their daughter because she was raped and the man who raped her suffers no persecution that is not how the British law works.

The people were building up a pyre in a public space and the admiral inquired to the purpose thereof. He was supposedly told that a man of high status has died and they were going to burn his wife.
The admiral then supposedly had his soldiers build a gallows next to the pyre, surround both and made it public that they are free to live their ways if they respected the british and that he was going to hang everybody that layed hand on the woman.

    • @freebird7017

@@lizd2943 The US‘ position as strongest started developing early in the 20th century when, although diverse in ethnicity, American culture - ‚being American’ as represented by Judean Christian values and European culture and liberal democracy was something everyone there strove for and these foundations were mainstream. The ‚melting pot’ where all ethnicities and all immigrants became American was the idea which formed a strong and cohesive society. The country also had a common vision, first to defeat Hitler and then to defeat the scourge of communism as represented by the USSR. Unfortunately, the high point was in the early 90s when the USSR. fell apart. By then the ‚melting pot‘ was a dirty word and all kinds of divisive ideas, like teaching young people to hate their own country, had crept into the society slowly corroding it from within. In the past 30 years the unifying ideas which made the US so strong have all been thrown overboard with the idea that everyone must celebrate being different and every idea, belief or way of living has equal merit. The immigrants who came mainly from Europe in the 1800s and early 1900s, and who were similar in culture, wanted to blend in and become American. They came because they wanted to throw off the restrictions in trade and enterprise imposed by European governments. Their entrepreneurial spirit had been contained by all sorts of limitations in Europe and the freedom they experienced in the US to let this spirit thrive was part of America’s strength. These immigrants have largely been replaced by immigrants from other cultures who are not interested in becoming part of the larger vision and are not expected to. In fact many of them despise America and have no vision of the freedom which used to be offered. Freedom has been decoupled from responsibility to contribute something meaningful to society. Coupled with the creep of governmental power to interfere in every aspect of life and business (mostly for the purpose of collecting taxes) and the creep of Marxist and socialist ideas, together with the purposeful revival of victimhood among African Americans although they live in one of the most free and accepting societies in the world, the ideal of America is being destroyed and the destruction is well on its way. Diversity of culture and beliefs and visions of the future is the scourge, not skin colour. The US has passed it’s zenith and is rotting from inside. Diversity of culture is working its same perfidious sorcery in every western country, making us all weak. When the US falls, we all fall.

    • @lizd2943

Early in the 20th century was when we changed immigration law and a flood of southern and eastern Europeans came into the country, with their different cultures and no tradition of liberal democracy. This led to a nativist backlash that revived the bad organization with the multiple K's. People like the man in this video were bemoaning how terrible all this diversity was back then too. And then... we got over it and America ended up richer for the diversity.

This is awesome to see, I’ve been saying that “diversity” actually weakens us. Especially when we adjust our values in order to accommodate those who are “guests” in our country, that’s NOT the deal. They can come here, as long as they assimilate with our culture, it’s not up to us to change our society at all. It’s our society who welcomed them, they came here to get away from their countries…why are they trying to change our country into what they left?
Regardless, making changes of a working system to accommodate new comers should not happen….our countries, our rules, like it or lump it.

But you know as well as I do that some, come here with no intention of “being part of this particular society” and the aim is to change in into what they left, which baffles me. If you think that it’s up to you to “change Society” to suit where you came from, go back. If you think that you want to join in and make society while adhering to the local laws and values as a whole better…welcome.
That being said, DEI, CRT, SOGI 123, BLM, LGBTQ Cultists are all Marxist, Communist, Socialist hybrids that intend to tear down and destroy society. All are geared to divide us. When you hear, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, it’s all about separating the races and dividing culture who should be living in harmony. Look up lectures by James Lindsay on Marxism here on UA-cam. His interview with Vivek Ramaswamy is reasonably short and very informative. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it…victim peddling and race baiting is everywhere that it doesn’t belong.

Legal is only what we make it. Sorry, I only recognise a couple of your abbreviations, so can't speak to all of them, but from context, have to query your interpretation. You write as if Marxism. Communism, and Socialism are the same ideology, when it's patently clear that they are not. Even if they were synonymous, remember the context in which they were developed; exploitative societies where the majority of the populace were repressed, ofentimes violently, by the elite of their day. As for the assertion that 'it's all about separation ', well I don't think you're altogether wrong in that. Labels, by definition, make it easier to separate entities . But I live and work in an environment that is 'diverse' in the literal sense of the word. Different, incomes, different religions, different sexualities, different genders, even more ingrained, different football loyalties. And every single one of 'them' is, must be, of equal worth and value as a human being, as am I or you are. The 'problem' was never with Diversity; it was always with prejudice and non conformity. Two very dangerous attributes, especially for any hierarchical society that wants/needs to maintain the status quo - or at least, their status. What's the cheapest way to dispose of your enemies? Get their friends to do it for you. All the best.

      CRT - Critical Race Theory
SOGI 123 - Sexual Orientation and Or Gender Identity
There’s also ESG - Environmental Social Governance, and then there’s the “Global Warming” agenda. All based on power and control.
DEI, CRT are presented as a positive, they sound great, but it’s about separating people based on race, sex, gender, creating oppressors and victims.
It teaches minorities that they are marginalized and teaches people that they are victims of the evil white man, and that they are oppressed as that minority or as woman etc. etc.
I mentioned a Marxism, Communism, Socialism “hybrid” both the communist and socialist systems are derived from Marxism. People think that these will be utopias but in fact, they have never worked anywhere that they have been implemented. Venezuela is the most recent example of its implementation that led to a rich country’s people to starve.
Socialism is the full control of the means of production, distribution and exchange that is owned and regulated by the community as a whole. So they say, it sounds so nice, everyone has a say, right?
This never happens, those who implement these ideologies control all of it which is far worse, the Government actually ends up owning everything, no more private enterprise, no private property, everyone works for the state, it’s basically a 1984 style ideology based on total power and control of the people.
Capitalism, though flawed, gives every individual the opportunity to own the means of production rather than the state.
Who trusts the government to make all of our decisions? Nobody.
Here’s the interview I mentioned, James Lindsay is the expert on these ideologies, Vivek is just the interviewer, but he has good points.
Regardless as to which political side you are on, knowing the origins and direction that things are going and why, is very valuable information. I never knew any of this, but once you see it, you can’t unsee it…it’s in everything…I was shocked to find out the origins of the acronyms above and the ideology behind them all, they sounded so “inclusive” but they are the opposite.

Ever since the introduction of these policies we have been far more divided, everyone is a victim or an oppressor. I’m in my mid 50’s, I’ve never experienced this much division, our community is like yours… but it’s changing, now the new generation can’t seem to feel victimized or oppressed enough nd we’re getting people in from other countries that segregate themselves and do not engage with the community.
I’d be interested in your thoughts on Lindsay’s explanation. But that’s up to you.

The problem is that people tend towards vast oversimplifications of a complex reality. Diversity of thought can indeed be a strength. And diversity of culture can lead to a diversity of thought. But there are also HUGE weaknesses that must be accounted for and addressed. And more importantly, the diversity needs to be managed so that it is brought into a stronger unity. Simplistic ideas like “diversity is our strength,” eliminates the complexity and obscures the reality. Any practice must be confined to its proper context if it’s going to be beneficial instead of detrimental. We desperately need to remember this!

Seems like the 'powers that be' have been played and they won't admit it, and if not that then it is the most henious, gross and selfish display of greed and profit over ppl.

Counter point; diversity without strong leadership is a weakness. When a population chooses not to work towards their country's benefit, adopted country or otherwise, of course things won't be as good.
There's too much BS shoved into people's heads and not enough asking 'why', I reckon. Leads to all sorts of cr@p.

Long term diversity is ALWAYS a weakness regardless of leadership

Diversify is nature and is necessary. Do not politicize it. Just live in harmony. Nature has biodiversity.

are there any non western countries being diverse ?

    • @anthonymorris5084

Nope, this is solely a demand made on White majority societies by the Left. The goal of the Left is to sow chaos and destruction to destroy capitalism and bring down the Western world which they despise. Their public claims that "diversity is a strength" is a ruse. Even they don't believe this nonsense. It's nothing more than a tactic to win the end game of ushering in their Marxist "utopia" when all the dust settles.

I have friends here in California that are part of that gross migration. They left England for good.
Then there was the lawsuit in the US against a county that jury-rigged a voting district that diluted the black vote. Image that in the UK? Every voting district is diluting the English vote.

They made me do diversity training at my last job. The videos I had to watch kept making that statement but never gave one bit of proof of it.

It's simple human instinct to be around others that have as many commonalities as possible. You can't just throw that out and expect things to work out just because it seems like a good idea.

You can see it in every market town it brings huge division. This has eroded Britains culture to the point of near non-existence the larger question is can i be reversed without horrific action? I hope so i still remember natural community and not a forced state.

💥 Instead of saying ethnic diversity, the problem is more of religious diversity. Americans and Europeans meddle with religion they have little or no knowledge about, and that's the problem of modern European society and not "diversity". Poland and Hungary are not crying out on diversity. Religion is greater than diversity in some migrating countries.
