Why did also close down civic? If they didn't, we can still go to civic museum by train
Whoever decided to stop the trains coming to Newcastle blew it !!
It's a polarising argument. Everyone was against it when the idea was first floated but a number of locals I've spoken to over the years have seen the tram as a good idea for the town and you'll also have the people who will always be against the move regardless.
Oscars my favourite train
Nice seeing it going to Newcastle
I went on it to Newcastle it was way better than v sets
V sets have more character though.
I like oscars too
Schony747 love the v sets
interesting fact by the time the train got to civic you wouldn't be able to find a seat thats how busy the train line was but by 2012 the NSW government declared the line redundant as the newcastle business chamber pushed to have the line removed and they got their wish
Interesting isn't it. Never let actual figures get in the way of a dodgy proposal. I saw the tram a few years ago and was impressed with the operation. I don't know how much difference the tram has made to Central Newcastle.
Nice
Ah, the old Newcastle rail corridor
The good old days
Yes indeed. Newcastle Station was an icon.
Great video! It is such a shame that they replaced the rail corridor with light rail, the trams are slow and inconvenient
I found the trams to be pretty good as I never used the train into Newcastle
Schony747 oh cool! Oddly enough, I recently have been on a train ride and there were no rude people or teenagers. Although when I went on the tram, there were constantly people with scooters cussing and disrupting.
But the Oscar was not all station it was like the destination board for v set
Good video. Might I suggest using transition effects for smooth segues from one scene to the next.
I see what you mean with this one. It's either one of my early uploads, or I just forgot to put in the transitions as most of productions use the fade to black transition. Glad you enjoyed it anyway as it's all history now.
+Schony747: What editing software do you use? I've the choice of a few on my computer but my main workhorse these days is Cyberlink Power Director 14 Ultra.
@@neilforbes416 i never give suggestions or received them
Why did they even close down Newcastle Station?
+James Breith No idea. I'm not a local but I think politics played a big part.
It was an act of utter treason by Baird and Berejiklian to cut a perfectly good and serviceable rail line from Wickham to Newcastle. Baird and Berejiklian should be rotting in a cell at Cessnock Corrective Centre for what they did to Newcastle!
@@neilforbes416 james breith asked you a question but i don't think a putting those two in gaol is the answer
@@neilforbes416 land sell off
@@neilforbes416 Baird and Berejiklian should be rotting in a cell at Cessnock Corrective Centre for what they did to Newcastle! that would be very unlikly
Schony, you'd be saddened, even disgusted to see what's happened to the rail corridor from Wickham to Newcastle today(2019). Utterly disgraceful!!
I'll be up there in a few weeks. I'll check it out.
A perfectly good rail system ripped out.... FOR WHAT? ......And replaced by a stupid dinky-toy tramway!
@@neilforbes416 you gotta thank your former mayor jeff McCoy for that
@@neilforbes416 @1:31 this is what McCloy (yes spellchecker corrected the name) was going off his head about weeds growing through the tracks endless or tangled wiring and rusty tracka and low passenger numbers on the trains as most people were getting off at Hamilton and Broadmeadow
@@youtubeviewer7030 In non-peak hours perhaps, but in peak hours there'd be pasengers wanting to get to Newcastle East, and get off at a station closest to the Ferry Wharf for Stockton.
