- 100% battery health isn’t what it used to be - dropping fast - iPhone battery health is something many people are concerned with and now it seems battery health and battery life is dropping faster than ever. In this video I show iPhone flagships throughout the years and how the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro have held up every year and how quickly they dropped to less than 100% battery health. I also show how I charge iPhone, what charger I use and how iOS 16 and iOS 17 have affected battery with optimized battery charging options and more. #iOS17 #iPhone #Apple

iPhone 14 Pro here. 13 months old and I’m at 86%. People deny it but there’s a real and valid issue with these batteries.
True however the drop in percentage doesn’t seem to be consistent at all. Mine was 100% for a long time, then dropped veryyy fast up until 88%. Now it’s going much slower, I’m on 87% for the past *months* now. I’ve had months where it dropped 2% (yes, in 1 month). My iPhone 14 Pro is now 16 months old.
86% after 13 months is crazy tho. How many times do you charge??
@@GamingPIPI I charge my phone every night out of habit whether it has 80% or 5%. Especially now that iOS has nightstand mode as I use it all the time. iPhone 15 PM purchased upon release and my battery shows no indication of abnormal drain or health. I sometimes wonder if the software used to measure battery health is truly valid.
Yes, it’s called a consumable part. Batteries go bad. All of them. Personally I think the manner of testing battery health has more of a problem than the actual batteries do.
@@HesperianHorsePower batteries are consumable yes but to have a 14% drop in a year is a bit much. My brother in law just found his old iPhone X he purchased new and used daily until he upgraded. Guess what percentage it was at? 87%. Mine is a year old and is at 86%? Sounds off to me
Batteries can very in performance and there’s no way of telling if you’ve got a good or bad one.
The majority are good but there will be some that aren’t lucky ones. Usually Apple offers a two year warranty and that should suffice for those with a bad one.
13 pro max on release software was GOATED 😭. I wouldn’t even worry about a cable because I knew no matter what I did, I could make it home with battery life.
That device was amazing for battery.
i knowww, was awesome, mine is at 85% battery health, but its not the max, just the normal pro, and yeah it still last me thru the day but if I don't use it that much
@@armen7932and was pretty much optimized for that released update
Yes and Apple made a mistake with this, they don't care about the consumer. That's why it will impact their sales. So they flunked the battery in IP14 Pro
Yup same, now I have to charge in the middle of the afternoon everyday, even with somewhat low usage
15 pro here.
Went from 100% to 96% in one month.
Let me clarify. Day one owner since Sept. Remained at 100% until March. Dropped from 100 to 97, then a week later to 96.
Pretty sure you're meant to replace your battery every year... they don't design their battery to last you more than 2 years. Just 2 years top.
@@WOTM8 This is absurd 4% in one month 😵💫😵💫
@@anixxbel759 yeah! well.. they seal the battery back for a reason... and now they trying to find a way to get around the latest EU law that says "All phone should have removable battery back by 2027 for promoting sustainability" ALL in the name of being "green".
But I don't blame them.. Apple sheep are so dense that Apple can do that and no Apple fanboys actually realize what's happening under their nose. Those fanboys deserve to be treated as what they are.

@@quadrosglenn Well replacing the battery will fix your problem..
My girlfriend's phone is at 84 percent on her Xr and she has 1198 cycles . . . Now that's some crazy good battery after 5 years of daily use!
On an Xr? Seriously?
They dont make em like this anymore. Apple is just making phones with cheaper batteries now.
Tell her to keep going
I have 78% on my Xr, i picked up mine at launch and been using it to the max since.
Had to replace my XR battery after ~1350 cycles and almost five years (It was down to 79%). But since a few months I switched to the 15 Pro and sold the XR. Best decision 👌. It is still at 100% and 103 cycles.
I’m using 80 % limit since the beginning and never let it drop below 30 %. Since it has all day battery life I only need to charge it about 30 mins. a day. 205 cycles and still 100 %.
It will still drop soon. That 80% limit doesn’t seem to make much of a difference nor does charging it before it drops to 20%

I bought my iPhone 15 Pro Max and picked it up just 2 weeks after its launch. Been using it daily, and still at 100% battery health, with 181 cycle count. I think the battery health is even better than my 12 Pro honestly.
I wish I could say the same. I am at 139 cycles and at 97% capacity. The last really good phone I had was the 13 Pro Max. It didn’t fall below 100% until about 7 1/2 months into use. My 12 Pro Max, my 14 Pro Max was hot garbage, and so is my 15 Pro Max. I understand what Aaron is saying about hiding that, but even if Apple hides it I can clearly tell that my phone isn’t doing as well. I take it off the charger and within 45 min it’s at 99% or 98%.
Give it a couple more updated then it will drop to 96%/95% and then you will think the battery is bad but its normal.
Tbh 12 Pro didn’t set the bar high, in fact, 12 series iPhones have some of the worst battery life in past decade.
Look, you'll be down to 98 in just a week
I have had iPhone 15 pro max since October with 100% battery health at 123 cycle counts with the 80% limit turned on. I use an older 12w iPad charger with a usb a to usb c cable which keeps the phone cool while charging.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.

ive had my 15 for 4 months with a charge cycle of 115 and I'm still at 100%. I make an effort to take good care of the battery though (not leaving it charged overnight, never charging it completely to 100% or letting it get too low, etc.)
This consistency is crazy… keep it up!
I’ve commented a few times on your videos over the last few months. My iPhone is now at 122 charge cycles and it’s at 92% battery health 15 pro max bought launch day. This is the worse I’ve ever seen an iPhone go down.
My 15 ProMax bought a couple weeks after launch is at 98 cycles and 100% health.

I don’t think I’ve ever checked battery health at all. The battery is going to be fine over the life of my ownership of the device and I e never had an issue. I’ve never run a battery dead by the end of the day and in fact usually have 40-50% left even with heavy use. I don’t understand people’s obsession with battery stats.
If you really want to save battery time just turn your phone off! Me, I just go on living my life and don’t worry about it.
@@HesperianHorsePowerI agree. It’s ok to know if you’re noticing that something’s wrong or the battery won’t last much, how it is and if the warranty covers it. Besides that…only to get mad
Great video is always . I was wondering your personal opinion is there such a thing as overcharging or is it actually less beneficial to leave it plug-in all the time such as if you have a mobile charger that you carry with you
Thank you so very much for your content I really appreciate it Aaron ❤😊on my iPhone 15 Pro my battery is still at 100% for now
I’ve noticed with the iPhones I’ve had that the total battery capacity varies greatly. Anywhere from 100%-105% when brand new. My 15 PM was right at 100% when new and at 45 cycles I’m at 98% per coconut battery. But my 15 Pro was at 103% when new. My 13 mini was at 102% when new. The people who are getting really high cycle counts before dropping battery health is due to the extra battery that’s above what apple says is max capacity. Great video Aaron!
105% How?
yes, my iPhone 13 Pro Max had 105% capacity and remains at 100% even after 2 1/2 years. It has only 180 full cycles, but that still means that I’m not below the hundred percent yet
If you have coconut battery on a MacBook, it will show you the full charge capacity and the design capacity. For example my 15 pro has a full charge capacity of 3340 mAh and a design capacity of 3274 mAh. Which comes to 102%. On the actual phone apple will only allow it to show 100%.

Hi, i also think that low percentages are not nearly as harmful as high ones. My 15 pm is at 100% at 170 cycles, charged to 100% only couple times but was quickly discharged closer to 80%. However, it was on low perecntages for big portion of time, even turned off at 0% couple times.

I thought faster battery health degradation was a myth until I experienced it myself… I bought the 12PM, 13PM, 14PM, and 15PM on launch day each year.. Anyone else with a 15 Pro/Pro Max noticed that while charging their phone it’ll start sporadically flickering on and off charge by itself? It’ll vibrate and play the charging sound repeatedly like it’s disconnecting from charge then reconnecting again. This happens regardless of what cable is used whether it be the cable that came in the box, a 2m Apple cable or even an Anker cable, all of which have been used with either an Apple 20w or 30w power brick. I’ve also made sure that the charge port is clear of any debris that could interfere with the charging process in any way. This has been an ongoing issue for me since late last year and according to a few Reddit and Apple Community forums filled with people having the same problems, I’m not the only one. My 15 Pro Max as of April 24, 2024: 97% at 117 cycles, manufactured Aug 2023, first use Sep 2023. Always charged at 30% or above, usually around 70%.
I have been using my iPhone SE 2 now for about 4 Years and I have done 433rd Charge and I dropped to 82% on my battery health on that device. I say it’s pretty good. It’s running iOS 17.4.1 on it currently
15 Pro here, got on launch day. 168 cycles, 100% still.
I e been using my 15 Pro Max since launch day. Currently at 100% w/197 cycles.
After 2 years on 13 Pro Max it was at 89% Capacity.
Good shit. Ima at 100% on 170 cycles, dont know how you got that many cycles, im insane already 😂
The 13PM here from launch day. Definitely excellent battery health(85%) and longevity. I only use 12W IPad charger and don’t wirelessly charge because the extreme heat generated is bad for battery
Same here on my 13 pro :) 85% health from launch day . :)
Charging makes no difference 😂 there’s more factors that come into play
@@bigmaxcc charging does make a difference. Wireless charging naturally generates more heat to the devices battery. When you use a lower wattage wired charger it wouldn’t generate as much heat. Heat is a big degrader of batteries
@@murroybeverley I didn’t mention wireless charging I called out any form of charging you won’t see much difference. You know conducts more heat using the camera and gaming not to forget software updates any update battery gets worse like I said more factors come into play 🙌✅
Just hit 78% on my launch iPhone 13 mini. Going to replace the battery this week. Long live the mini!!
Bought my iPhone 13 Pro at launch and it’s at 86%. Been at that percentage for the most part of a year now
Have August 2023 iPhone 15 Pro. 125 battery cycles. Still at 100% health. Charge whenever not in use, rarely go below 60%. Manually charge to 100% if not in use.
Rarely bellow 60% is not a good thing. I charge my 15 pm from 10 to 65% percent and is 100% bh after 170 cycles.
on my 15pro I'm at 98% after 105 cycles, first use late November. I always use the 80% limit, no stress usage or anithing strange. it went at 99% with the 17.4.1 update.
my cousin's 15pro is still at 100% with 1 month less of life but already 140 charges.
15 Pro Max, first use September 2023, currently at 97% (156 cycles) - seems fine to me
ETA I almost always charge wirelessly using a Belkin charger
When I was a kid in the 70s I thought how cool it would be to have a car phone. Now we have this absolutely amazing device and technology. These small hiccups in progress relating to the iPhone are just too small for me to fret over as I know they will work out the bugs. May sound corny but most times I use my iPhone I just stop and say Damn, what a remarkable gadget. Also grew up on the 286 too so you can imagine the leaps and bounds over that but of kit..
I have iphone 14 pro max and I had 96% battery health after over a year. For some reason, it dropped to 92% in around 3 months. I have been using the same satechi charger.
14 pro max here. 100% batt health for the first 9 months. Then after almost 6 months, it’s now at 94%. It’s dropping quickly, a bit. Well, I think I should not worry too much instead of stressing due to batt health decrease. Just enjoy (as long as it’s 90%+).
14 Pro Max (17.4.1) here and I’m at 86%. It does seem to dropping faster than in the past.
iPhone 15 Pro. Dropped to 91% with 334 cycles. I owned it since day 1
Had an iPhone 13 before and sold it at 95% health after about 1 1/2 years
219 cycles and 100% health here with my 15 Pro Max. I always full charge it with MagSafe during night and one charge of around 20-30% through cable during the day
Hey Aaron, just checked my 15 Pro Max. It's still showing 100% at 43 cycles. Will have to let you know closer to December if I make it a full year before it starts decreasing. My 12 Pro Max went over 2 years and a few months before it started dropping. Before that, I had the 7 Plus, it lasted at least 1 year before starting to drop. Before that with the 6, 5, and 4, I don't remember, as I didn't take note of the battery much back then, unless something strange happened.
15 ProMax bought within a couple weeks of launch at 98 cycles, and still at 100%. I only charge it to 80% and always use wired charging, no wireless.
My 15 is at 98% with 253 cycles, owned since October and don’t follow any battery health tips. I’m rather surprised at how fast it dropped from 99 to 98 considering it was at 100 until March
It seems like the 15/iOS series is less stable. because the cycle feature was only available in the 15 series when it was first introduced, hopefully when iOS is 18% possible, it will return to 100% but it is very impossible. because many have experienced drastic declines in the 15 series even though they are using original parts
i do something a little more unique but some people do. i use a smart plug and a shortcut. once my phone hits 80% charge it shuts the smart plug off so it’s not constantly charging and use a 12 watt charger cause the heat between a 5watt and a 12 watt are so small
Waoh!! Me again to support ❤ 🇮🇳
I bought the XSMax in march 2021. I did the 40%-80% charge and about 10% I charged it to 100%
Most of the time I used it in preserved battery mode. Until I got the 13PM in September the phone was 97% but its battery discharged significantly since I bought it new. Still I could go from 100% to about 20% from morning to evening with a a somewhat extensive use. It’s so subjective to measure the battery. I mostly kept it away from heat!!!
I got my 15 pro max in december and I am still at 100% battery health with 152 cycles. I use the "charge to 80%" feature this time around to see how it helps.
IPhone XS here. 1755 cycles with 77% Battery health for 5 years. In the first year of use, it dropped down to 85% Then it slowed down and for the last 3 years it dropped only with 1-2%
iPhone 15 pro max first use October 2023 187 cycles 100% max capacity. I set the phone on 80% limit charge. Wanna see over a year how it does with the battery.
I’m at 100% at 229 cycles with the iPhone 15 pro, I just charge between 30% and stop at or a little before 80%. I also don’t use a case. I did the presale for it so I’ve had it since day 1.
iphone 15 pro 198 cycles and 100 percent battery health.I charge every night with 5 w charger, and sometimes during the day use fast charger. it's best result witch I ever have with battery by the way, I have smart plug, witch turns on at 4 AM, and turns off at 7 AM. So I never overcharging.
my regular 13 is currently at 97% after 15 months of use. a miracle since its my main phone
Did you charged it everyday? At 100% or limit to 80%
15 Pro Max user here - bought it 14th November - it’s still on 100% and 120 cycles. Though… I’m on the 80% charging optimization and I dont use the 5G - only LTE!
After used the 5G for few months on my iphone 12 the battery dropped with ~10% in 6 months! So that’s why I don’t use it.
Just checked my 13 Pro Max and I'm at 82%. Got it on December 17, 2021 so 2 years and 4 months. I'm heavy user, average 7 hours on screen time per day. I have to be at 1000 cycles by now.
My 13 PM at 90, bought new Nov 21. it was it 100% for the first 14 months then start dropping. But lately, I haven’t been charging it fully just to 80% sometimes.
I will be trading it this fall on the new 16 promax. I usually trade every 2 to 3 years, and AT&T gives me good trade-in values.
7 hours what you doing for 7 hours 😂
I really don’t worry about the battery I never look at it but this iOS 17.4.1 daily use is terrible I always was at the end of the day 30-35% battery since update I don’t get through the without charging on my 15 Pro Max
I have a 12 Pro Max that I have had since May 2021 so just coming up on 3 years now and I am at 78%. On an average day I probably only need to charge it once or twice so not too bad but I do always make sure I have a charger with me.
using 15 Pro from late November 2023, still at 100% with 194 cycle count. 80% limit works wonders
Using an iPhone 12 heren which I bought right around launch time. My battery was actually doing really good but dropped rapidly after updating to iOS 17.4. Went from like 89% to 83% currently.
15 Pro Max. Only charge with rapid charger and drain to 5 percent daily before recharging at night. 176 cycles 100 percent still.
It’s true all battery’s degrade over time but what I have noticed with my iPhones is that every time a major iOS update comes along I lose a couple of percents which makes me think it’s intentional.
15PM with 150cycles @ 99% after 8 mths.
Almost always charge wirelessly overnight unless I’m really low while travelling. Always on Optimized Charge.
Not worried but surprised it’s not still 100%
I have a 15 Pro Max bought day 1, 177 cycles with 100% max capacity remaining. The first thing I did after I bought it was set it to the 80% limit, which was maybe a good call
