Thank you for taking the time to make a review on this receiver. I am trying to replace my Denon AVR-4310Ci which have for 14 years and I still loved it. I think it’s time to upgrade to a newer model that has a WiFi and Blue. This is very helpful.
Great review. I just set mine up and love it. However, how did you get the setup screen to appear on your tv? Need to change mine from 5.1 to 7.2 and that can only be done from the menu which will not come up on my tv. Thanks again.
Hey thanks for sharing this video. I am about to make the purchase of this AVR and I’m really looking forward to it. After seeing your unboxing and setting up it’s going to make my setting up a breeze. I have to be honest though I am very surprised that you even compared your set up to a sound bar. This set up should be light years better then a sound bar. That’s about it though. Thanks again and great job
Yeah, that’s too funny my dog didn’t like that either just two days ago. Once it hit that low note in the subwoofer, she took off like a bat out of hell felt bad.
How are you liking the 3500? Thinking about replacing a 20 year old Pioneer Elite. How are its other included functions? Wifi, bluetooth streaming, Amazon music, etc? Is there an LFE input for subwoofer?
It has been great so far. The WiFi works well, no issues to report. The Bluetooth streaming and Amazon music have not been tested on my end, but I would expect no issues. There are two LFE inputs for subs, so you can hook up two subs if you would like.
It didn't take too long at all. I was setting up on a wireless network and I honestly don't think it took more than a minute. You may want to double check your network settings and/or try wired networking (if available). If all else fails contact Denon support.
I'm having a difficult time deciding between this and the x4500. Planning on driving my towers with a Crown XLS1002 connected to the pre outs and the other channels from the AVR.
I've had a good experience with the X3500H and I've heard good things about the X4500 so I'm sure you will have a good set up either way. Good luck with the decision!
@@2XPGaming I ended up going with the x4500, it's excellent even with just 7 speakers and 2 subwoofers. So far I'm happy with the built in amplifier and don't see a need yet to add an external amp for the speakers.
Strongly considering this reciever as an upgrade from an old Pioneer Elite vsx-33. How do you like it after being with it for a while now? It's a steal on Amazon right now at like $549.
Great video man! You're right, only video I could find for this specific AVR. I have this on the way and this will save some time on setup and also I can plan things out a little better. Very oddly, we have almost the exact same setup- same sub, same fronts, very close to the same TV (65" Samsung RU7100), soon to be same AVR, different centers though...
Unfortunately my Denon x3500h is a complete lemon. Multiple HDMI-In ports are faulty. When trying to set up both my blu-ray player and X-Box it won’t connect at all or it will only connect for a few seconds and disconnect and then repeat that cycle. I have tried factory reset several times as well to absolutely no avail.
Excellent video! I have the same receiver en route. I have a older Sharp Aquos TV. It’s a 1080p tv with 120hz refresh rate. I may get a new tv but until then, do you know if arc will work properly. Just wondering if the receiver will create new issues. I’m currently running a pioneer elite sc-81. Thank you!
ARC is very hit or miss for anyone I think. If you go to Reddit and check out r/hometheater you can see a bunch of posts on ARC and how to get it to best work. I personally have no issues with ARC with my devices at this time.
2XP Gaming I agree. My current issue is that I have to reset power to enable the Hdmi handshake. Hoping also to get better room correction and sound quality and the atmos features. I noticed on the set up slides, the atmos speakers were above the towers. Can I re-assign those to the ceiling?
Hey there - I don’t have any plans to do a settings video at this time but the Denon’s user manual does a great job of explaining all the different settings and what they are for.
The answer to both questions is yes but it depends on the television and input. I had to do some research and part of the problem is that the on-screen display from the AVR doesn't passthrough to the input on the television sometimes. I haven't personally been able to resolve the issue.
That seems to be a bit abnormal. Did you run through the calibration correctly? You may want to reach out to them for further troubleshooting after checking the calibration.
Be sure that you’re plugging the included mic into the front calibration port. That’s the only port it should be going into. If you are doing that, then you may need to check out Denon support.
I always run an AC Infinity Aircom on my receivers because they can run a little hot as can all high end receivers. I recommend getting one if you have temp concerns
You got my like... Do you have a follow up video on other videos with that reciever????

I am looking at the 3600 but the 3500 is priced really well right now
Big Ed you can’t beat the 2018 pricing for the 3500h right now. It’s a steal at nearly 50% off.
So it doesn’t need to be connected to a amp?? Please let me know I don’t want to fry it
Yeah, that’s too funny my dog didn’t like that either just two days ago. Once it hit that low note in the subwoofer, she took off like a bat out of hell felt bad.
Well done. Length of video no problem.

How long did the network settings take to load? We just got one and it's stuck on a loading wheel on network settings

Hi how do I get the selection screen to come up on TV thanks
Excellent video very informative well done
You can put 2 subwoofers and calibrated separate !?
Yep!

What was your previous avr? I'm thinking of getting this cause my Yamaha doesn't have the pre outs.
buster colin I had no previous AVR. Just a sound bar!
Thanks for reviewing
Sure thing!
awesome video!
Bought this receiver because of this video and I love it!
How do you set up Zone 2 to play speakers in a nother room?
How much did you get it for?

Yeah you can absolutely do that. I’m thinking the image was just there as a reference.
2XP Gaming just hooked it all up and all is working and sound is amazing and picture quality has improved!
Do a follow up review
You going to make a video on the Denons settings?
Hey there - I don’t have any plans to do a settings video at this time but the Denon’s user manual does a great job of explaining all the different settings and what they are for.
I noticed that this model has been discontinued. and they dont make 7 ch at this series anymore.
good video does it display hdr on screen when you play a hdr video and does the volume show on screen when you adjust it from the reciever
The answer to both questions is yes but it depends on the television and input. I had to do some research and part of the problem is that the on-screen display from the AVR doesn't passthrough to the input on the television sometimes. I haven't personally been able to resolve the issue.
@@2XPGaming thank you
60 fps hdmi output - so if my tv is 120hz, I shouldn't connect it via the denon AVR?
Use earc instead
Where would you plug in a pair of active monitor speakers?
front preouts
Are they reliable? I want a device that will last me 20 years
I mean I think they are but keep in mind it will be technically obsolete in 6 months. 20 years is a long stretch. Whatever you feel comfortable with.
Do I need to hook to tv to set it up I’m using it to biamp my front speakers as 2.0 and use the calibration mic as well
Hey sorry for the delay. The setup wizard does require the AVR to be hooked to a display
Just bought mine today on sale for 549.09 to include tax.
I finally got my Denon avr 3500 with a klipsch theater pack. For some reason I have to turn up volume up to 70+ to get decent sound. Is this normal?
That seems to be a bit abnormal. Did you run through the calibration correctly? You may want to reach out to them for further troubleshooting after checking the calibration.
Make sure you are setting the speakers correctly and make sure you use good cables
good video 👍
Thank you 👍
When I connect the mic the system detects headphones and stops calibration! Have any Idea?
Be sure that you’re plugging the included mic into the front calibration port. That’s the only port it should be going into. If you are doing that, then you may need to check out Denon support.
@@2XPGaming yes, I'm connecting to "setup mic" port in the front.
Does it run as hot as Marantz?
Hey there. I couldn’t say as I haven’t used a Marantz AVR. I would say that this one gets a little warm but nothing crazy.
I always run an AC Infinity Aircom on my receivers because they can run a little hot as can all high end receivers. I recommend getting one if you have temp concerns
Shame you didn’t show how to best connect hdmi to various sources/inputs for best audio connections.
