THE MOST under rated guitarist, his work on Still of the Night,Blue Murder,Thin Lizzy,on and on!!!Dave Coverdale would not be where he's at now ,if not for John Sykes!!!!Sykes you da man!!!!
I agree Coverdale was an absolute arse to JS and the rest of the band John did all the hard work wrote the entire 1987 album for snake and got shit on by DC who took all the credit for it never forgave him for it .......... tosser.
Sykes is just killing it. That tone is supernatural and his voice is spot on. This is a perfect example of the type of talent that the grunge movement steamrolled. Insane.
unclemeat1977 well it needed steamrolled. ..BUT not by asinine grunge or nu metal groups like Nirvana..or fucking rap..wtf... spastic herion junkie fake punk !!!! another band that didn't get to truly go places was "SALTY DOGS" ....along with JAKE E LEE'S BADLANDS..... The steamrolled should have happened to thin out the "imposter glam rock dick heads"... damn shame because there were along with Blue Murder, Badlands & Salty Dog ..a few great bands who's roots were Raw Blusey Ballsy Hard Guitar Rock !!!!!
Sykes is the Shit. He produces tone, distinct rockin' tone, combined with his vocals and songwriting skils, he's the real deal. Excellent catalog of tunes!

No doubt about it--Sykes is CRIMINALLY underrated--he totally rocks!! My favorite Blue Murder tune is their cover of "Itchycoo Park"--an incredible song to begin with but Sykes just kicks so much ass on it!! It's one of my favorite covers of all time!! I'll never forget one year on vacation in California on a perfect Saturday at Venice Beach---83 degrees, immaculate blue sky, gorgeous girls in skimpy bikinis everywhere you turn then suddenly some dude comes on the beach with a humongous boombox blasting the Sykes cover of "Itchycoo Park"..it was a moment that was all...too...beautiful!!!!

With a bassist like that you don't need a rhythm guitarist, the keyboards thicken the sound nicely too. I play bass myself and now I can listen to more Marco Mendoza real talented player.
Sykes, is still the total package. As others have mentioned - he brings it. Definitely not underrated. But you can't argue with a man who composes, plays, sings and delivers LIKE THAT.
John's skills are insane, he kill every note, but besides his talent and technique he's a true artist, he performs with such passion and love for music, you can't see that kind of devotion specially in today's bands not even in the 90's!

CAN'T WAIT FOR MARCOS' NEW ALBUM WITH BLACK STAR RIDERS, THE REMAINS OF THIN LIZZY! AS LONG AS SCOTT GORHAM IS INVOLVED, I WILL ALWAYS FOLLOW!! BRAVO JOHN, EXCELLENT SHOW!!!!!!!!
So much love for John in these comments, I hope he's reading. Guitar is too low on the mix on this recording. Note to all the guitarists with their massive pedalboards and shitload of FX, I just see a Wah pedal for John, what a talent with a pure sound. When everyone was saturating their guitar with Chorus and FX in the 80's, which hasn't dated well at all, his sound from the 80's still sounds fresh and in your face. RIP Nick Green who gave the Blue Murder sound that shiny keyboard sheen. Much respect to John for always remembering Philo. Met John with Lizzy reunion in Dublin a few years back, signed my guitar at Lizzy's hotel and was a humble gentleman, he made sure Scott Gorham signed it too.
Coverdale was a journeyman and Whitesnake a bargain bin blues band until Sykes came along...period. Sykes singlehandedly put Coverdale and Whitesnake where they are today.
Awesome concert...John is such a complete artist...a guitar god, outstanding songwriter ,fantastic singer and freaking hot man...singing and playing live this way ,this is unbelievable!
Great concert but the crowd noise kills the songs dead. Marco is such a beast, listen to that bass keeping it all together!! John Sykes, man he is good.
LOVE ,LOVE,SYKESplaying.he can hold a harmonic for days!!!and it's true all Whitesnakes albums before Sykes,we're just decent albums...sorry Sykes out sings Coverdale///yep
Great show. That stupid frame drives me nuts. I wish we could find a high-quality version of this, and other JS shows, w/decent picture quality!!! At any rate, Thank you for keeping this on YT.
A truly incredible musician. John must avoid social media feeds, all that seems to be written is the same old thing. For me he's given me many years of intense music memories...
Jonny ❤ I love the introduction to * She Knows * She without forgiveness, You have a lonely world 💓💓 he knows ,she doesn't have a clue 😭🧩 or he doesn't or didn't, My mom & siblings lie to much, jealousy is the WORST ! 😢
Sykes with the Les Paul and the tite delay, his tone is fat and grinding- sings while rippin it up too? The guy is great, and he put Whitesnake on the world map with that album.
such a talent! what a great band! Sykes is amazing. something must be a miss for him not to be held in the same status as some of the other rock greats. even so, his music is still wicked awesome thanks for the video ;O)
John Sykes hands down , the Motherfuckin master of the Les Paul. There has never been another b4 him that works that guitar without a bar. He's a fuckin beast !
I don't know how many "worthy musicians" are out there. But the number of bassists who have great tone, turn up on time for rehearsals, have great stage presence, can provide killer backup vocals, are fun to be around, and are not abusing something, may be small. Being in a touring band is more than just being able to play an instrument.
❤ Jonny so beautiful your voice 😍 in 1995 ,Glad I met you still , I wish I let you sing ❤️ at my house in West Hills CA USA then Los Angeles California,Now Del Norte County California on coast of California,Loved to have been invited to watch you,I thought you were studio music man,I didn't want you to work so hard when you made a living at it ❤😂🎉 I was such a silly young 🌱 lady ,sort of 😅😊 I was a nude model, not that I told you,Maybe I didn't tell you where I worked,Love will brake your heart 💕 At least we lover can & do love. Some people never know what that is,my younger sister sounded like me, more snobby, I was never snobby .
Sooooooo good. , wish they were still making music. Sykes is the best rock guitarist ever. What a singer and song writer, Followed since a kid in Tigers of pang tang. , his guitar vibrato influenced me greatly,
Love Sykes...he should be a legend if only for the whitesnake album genius. one complaint though...the obvious piped-in crowd noise is a lil...sad haha.
Marco gets around! Even though I'm a Tony Franklin fan Marco's great. This is litterally Sykes with a completely diffrent line up with Hired Guns, some of the best hired guns! It's been a while, can't wait to listen to Tokyo 89 with the pro treatment! I knew that show would get an office release! 🤘
Hands down Sykes project and Coverdales works are excellent stuff. Ive played, analyzed and recorded music for 30 years and one thing Ive learned about music and musicians, DONT HOLD GRUDGES AND SAY NEVER....The two of them have huge egos they have to feed, plain and simple, thats musicians for ya, lol. Just like Halen getting back together, Roth and Eddie both had to come off there high horses to every make it happen, that and they are both hurtin for money, lmao!!! Just music guys and gals.

Kelvin Noden you got that right mate.
+Kelvin Noden it was cause JS was proposing to kick DC out of Whitesnake just for a throat infection
oh Yeah!!

John Sykes Kicks F**kin' Ass...This guy's a MONSTER!!!
Unreal Guitarists blows away my mind! Great and extremely undderrated Guitarist and Song writer. The music today sucks!
Marco Mendoza Is truly a awesome singer and bass player. Top of the line. Sykes chose these two for a reason as well Tommy Osteen.
RIP Nik Green. I met him and he talked to me for probably 15 minutes or more after the show in Dallas. Classy guy.
I wanted to check the keyboardist history out; correct spelling for first name is Nik.
I met him on their 1st tour. Super nice & funny. 😔
I met John Skye's ❤ He has a beautiful voice...
