UPDATE: THEY JUST BUFFED CYCLONE'S AOE to 1.6m (from 1.1m). So it's almost back to where it was, without needing stages!

Wouldnt a lvl 5 awake enhance in a dallias get +2 gem lvls so its 48% total quality or 24% more ms

Considering I was going to play a Soulwrest build with Cyclone+CwC I too am curious to see what the transfigured gems for Cyclone are. They could just add one that is intended for interactions with CwC and CoC.
Something like; "Cyclone shares 30% of its quality with triggered attacks/spells" would be dope for this
I think i'm going to try Cyclone CoC this league. Clearly not as a league starter, but if i manage to scrounge up enough currency to make it work it looks like it could be a fun build :)
The reason people think removing the 50% less damage with first hit is impactful might be because the way old Cyclone worked was that you always spun very short distances, beginning a new 'cast' of it extremely often especially against bosses; which would lead to the 50% less on first hit mattering more. They even added this modifier to nerf Cyclone way back since it used to not have it to begin with.
Also a buff to things that do X to enemies on full life. Dunno how impactful this would all be but I guess it's something
Yeah, I've always seen this as noob bait, for people who don't understand the game, we're going to see a lot of people going cyclone thinking it has been buffed to only take a week to grind through the atlas because no in fact the change isn't great. Spammers that require you to have a good PC are still king of end game and Righteous Fire is still king of Starters. The whole situation is obnoxious frankly... I don't weep for Toxic Rain spammers though or Totem builders, the meta needed a shake up and they can suck it, my fav build has sucked for 2 years and my fav gem has sucked for 7 years, they can eat dirt.
@@foxdavion6865 rf is def not the king of starters no more lmao, are you high? rf loss any anywhere around 40-60% of the dmg on league start. and rf dmg is only barely acceptable before the nerf.
There was a method to stutter step cyclone, holding your cursor just next to your character's feet would cause the start/stop at max rapidity while holding the skill down.
@@ragingnep You have more/same damage early game, less mid game, better late game. But i strongly believe the flat damage from RF went to the transfigured version. We will now have a lot more RF builds. Not a big deal tbh, considering the amount of investment required to get RF to a decent level of damage, any other build is superior with equal investment. It's popular because it's easy to play and you don't die, but you can't really farm interesting content with it.
@ 8:00 you missed that you're using dialla's so you get an extra 8% from enhance.
I used to always main cyclone because I just loved the easy play nature of it; And I am really looking forward to these changes, which makes it so I can potentially play it again; Cyclone has been in a rather horrid spot for the past 2 years; Because of the constant needless nerfs we've had to take Atziri's Disfavour as a *requirement* of just using Cyclone, the only time you don't need it is if you're doing shockwave; Despite there being better Swords for Cyclone in the game, but they're useless because of weapon range, you could build a really borked yellow which is better too, but again, weapon range. Secondly, we've been forced for the past two years to use a unique in the build for the helm slot because again, AoE range, we've been forced to take up modifier slots on yellow gear using crafted AoE, which takes away from damage multiplier, crit and elemental resistance which share the same mod slot.
We've been forced to get movement speed to counter the negative movement speed and to use leap slam to move around the map and use cyclone in small bursts for half a decade (this was a due to a nerf from way *way* back in 2015). Ever since 3.07, Cyclone has been constantly nerfed for no logical reason and when 3.15 happened, the only two viable builds is crit on hit and shockwave; Personally I'd been using Shockwave ever since, gone are the days of Impale Cyclone which I used to love playing. Eventually I just gave in and swapped to using Righteous Fire, which pretty much was first used as a response to the massive nerf to Cyclone way back in 3.07 and ever since grew to supplant Cyclone as the preferred AoE map clearer with each subsequent pointless melee nerf and what was better you can use it with Shield Charge so you can just zig zag across a map *and* bonkers life regen so you can just ignore Ascendancy mechanics entirely. But, I still miss and still prefer Cyclone.
I miss using two handed Swords with Cyclone... because there are two unique swords better than Atziri, but we can't use them anymore.
Probably has been said alrady but Diallas can also potentially gives +2(3 with corrupt) to Enhance if you want to go full degen with the quality.
It's going to take some effort to solve defense, but the CoC build is very exciting.
If cyclone wont be good enough for ultimatum, what builds would excel at it? Is there any that are league startable?

Pal do you think that you gonna do one or more CoC Builds this league? I really liked your Fireball CoC with KB, and with the enhance, diallas and maybe ashes that could turn into some explody KB (because explode quality now) CoC Build Variations right?

Nice, I played sweep with it in Scourge and loved it.
Definitely not on the table until we see transfigured gems. The only cyclone playstyle buffed here was CoC that cares about quality scaling

GGG like many developers nerf something in to the ground in stead of walking it down and then nvr touch it again so it's not useable anymore.
They're also habitual liars. Several leagues of no skill changes .. or new skills at all ... because "it's a lot of time". And then we get a league like this where they spent all that time goofing around with over a hundred "new" gems, removing alternates, messing with the base ones, and just making a right mess of it all.
And we're just supposed to be like "Holy hell, look at all that new stuff!" No... they're anchoring again, hard. We lost a lot of things.

Honestly all the skills that got "nerfed" are probably gonna get their old versions added as a transfigured gem. Simple versions gonna be the base for new players, probably because its much less text to read and easier to understand, I think this goes for frost nova cyclone and the simplified steel skills.
transf firestorm has almost no text while the base gem is the same as before, so not really helping any understand the game.
GGG: "Its impossible for us to balance skills, it would take too much time and 5% buffs aren't sexy."
Also GGG: "So we nerfed / changed every skill we made a new gem for, and we're doing at least 100 of them."
Its just so funny to me that Cyclone gets this as "buff" and ts get 1 more proj basically for free xD
You can't just add more/less multipliers together. They work separately; don't they?
So its actually (1-0.3)*(1+0.11+0.15+0.15+0.16) = 0.7*1.57 = 1.099
About 10% more movement speed.
Or does it work differently if its from the same source? I'm not 100% sure on this one, just wanted to mention it so this can get cleared up.
edit: just using the numbers from the video, disregarding that diallas could lead to more quality/ms
The existing alt quality cyclone does indeed add the two numbers together. If you hold alt you see 30% less in the main gem text, 5% more from the quality, and if you look without holding alt you just see 25% less.
More multipliers are only multiplicative with each other when they come from different sources. Since the gem grants the same bonus stat, it gets added together, and then multiplied with other values. This is the same reason why Arc gets 15/30/45/60% more damage from chain count
Ok that makes sense. I thought because the one modifier was less and the other more it would not get added together, but alas I learned something new. Thanks for clarifying.

i keep hearing people talk about how they want certain things on the T-Gems that was taken away from the base gem. but if GGG only did that that would be boring af. The T-gems should change the way you build a character around this T-gem completly.
Right? It's like, okay .. you want to take things away from 1 gem, and give them to the new one, so you have 2 gems with half the mechanics of 1 gem. So instead of 1 bad gem that had all the functionality .. you now have 1 worse gem and probably 1 okay gem with less functionality.
That's not fun in any metric of the term.

You are wrong about losing 25-35% aoe. Radius yep, but it still quadratic formula. At least half of area is gone.
Woulda took coc arc cyclone to 100 with dialas/ashes/mb/enhance but they didn't nerf sanctum so back to lightning champ srs with champ cf as start.
Always hated the movespeed penalty on cyclone so I am verry happy with this change (apart from the dumb AoE nerf...)

Totally agree!!!!! Once again caster shenanigans hurting melee (Fortify nerf/rework). I usually make a FB Cyclone as 2nd character and despite doing thing's like Guardians/Conq/Shaper.... It still feels like s***. Zerker is the way to go imo. Even Champ with Master of Metal does noticably less dps. I cant believe they buffed Atziris, and Starforge to respectable damage again and ignored FB. At least 700-900% and bare minimum 650-850%.
Not having played in a while I am already fearing transfigured gems will have quite a gatekeeping function.
Can only be gotten via eternal Lab = Labrunners determine supply, thereby
a) meta-gems will be hilariously expensive due to high demand from non-labber playerbase
b) non-meta-gems will be hilariously expensive due to limited supply (why transfigure a gem that will likely get you less money in trade)
This becomes even more pressing if the 'good' transfigures (by meta standards) of each gem are weighted less than the 'bad' ones.
Obviously the answer is for people to run lab themselves until they get the gem they want. But lets be honest, most players are glad when they don't have to run lab anymore after their last ascension points.
you can farm transfigured gems in act 3 lab, since most skill gems (for now) have only 1 or 2 variations as a transfigured gem you wont be farming for too long. In the future however when 1 skill might have 10 transfigured variations then yeah, it would be annoying to farm them.
"Can only be gotten via eternal Lab" thats not true as far as i remember, im 99% sure Mark (Neon) said in the Q&A that you can get transfigured gems in the very first lab in act 3.
Back in the day i loved cyclone, but now i can not even clear high maps with it, i do way to less damage and now comes a nerf? lol.

rue already had a coc ice spear with diallas, enhance, ashes. it was already fun last league, gonna be super fast next!
I can't get rid of this fear that every single PoE content creator is pushing for this idea of "they nerfed the base gem so that means the transfigured gems will be wild!" but in the end we'll just be disappointed again. It would make sense for them to be wild, but I'm not even getting my hopes up just in case.
I have heard many people say that many base gems got buffed to alt quality level and are hoping for new cool transfigs

I'm convinced they will make transfigure gems 'more interesting' in ggg's sense. Meaning it will be either weird interactions or come with huge drawbacks
@@MathieuPilot I wouldn't mind that. Also wouldn't mind some of them to be complete garbage as long as they are quirky or weird in some fun way. But we essentially got almost no buffs to irrelevant skill gems outside of some qualities being better or arc getting an OK buff. Melee is looking dead in the waters as always, so all hope is riding on those transfigured gems, which is scary.

like sure the cyclone quality is kinda nice, but there are some gems that just get absolutely broken with quality stacking

I am a cyclone CoC enjoyer, and im excited about the move speed changes for quality. Cyclone as a primary damage ability hasn't been viable for a while. So if the transfigured gem is in the game, and it makes it viable again, that'll be cool. But if not, it really doesn't matter much.
It's kind of weird that builds and skills that are incredibly fun to play almost always end up getting nerfed so that people are forced to go back and play builds that are not as much fun.
I think only builds that are to strong get nerfed. Personally i dont think Cyclone was ever fun it either was to strong (in legion for example) or to weak but never enjoyable for me.
GGG probably wants a balance been speed and comfort. The faster a build comes online, the more buttons you should be pressing. Comfort is offered at the expense of damage or scalability

Did you watch the entire video? He mentioned that quality on gems boosts things in a more multiplcative way now, and that this is more suited to CoC setups that benefit from that new quality
@@miked94 doesn't matter does it? Even if it gives so much movement speed that you don't need a quicksilver flask anymore, that doesn't solve the many other issues Cyclone has.

The fact GGG would nerf skills that were woefully needing a buff .. just because of the new versions ... is peak GGG brain fog.
Also considering they stated they couldn't buff old skills anymore ... but they have no problem nerfing all of them.
