I think the Ryobi sounds better than the ego that is important for me.
It's a big deciding factor for me especially in an enclosed garage with and echo.
I've had the Ryobi for about a year. Has worked great for me. I bought bought just the tool because I already have 4 batteries. Been happy with a 4 of my Ryobi tools so far.
I have too many batteries now its hard to keep a rotation going. LOL
Good luck with EGOs customer service, doesnt matter how good their products are. Horrendous reviews everywhere especially trustpilot..they are not the vocal minority either, its thousands of people. Keav, any issues with Ryobi customer service?
I have never had to contact customer service for either brand so I couldn’t comment from my perspective. I have heard of EGO problems from other viewers.
just snagged a deal from Home Depot, 296 for 2 730cfm ryobi blowers, 2 chargers, and 4 (four 4ah) batteries.! tax free too oddly. They go in and out of stock.
Dang, that is a great deal. That’s the price for usually just one.
@@CarsWithKeav yep! I ordered the stubby nozzle too after watching your videos. so 296 for 2 leaf blowers, one for blowing off car with stubby and one for blowing stuff. but yeah, you already had one, but I just set an alert on the page saying 'send me an email when its in stock' and it did.
@@donaldwiggins7740 Awesome!
@@CarsWithKeav the stubby and 730 cfm blower is a beast! I think il be grabbing this unit 99% of the time, unless I really need to blow leaves away. it's so strong and agile to use.
thanks again for your videos
@@donaldwiggins7740 No problem, I use it for the yard and car.
Idk i love my ego blower. This sound way worst in the video
GO blowers are great. I guess it all depends on what you are use to and which EGO you have. If you use many other blowers like the Ryobi then having that comparison shows the real difference. At least to me it sounds just as loud in person.
I like the Ego personally, but im not a complete P. 😮😅
Can't go wrong either way.
Ryobi ALL DAY ONLYYYY because of the sound! Ego sounds terrible in this comparison
It’s super loud and high pitched. Ryobi obviously is my pick because of the batteries, but the sound is too much for me.
No Home Depot near me so i have all EGO products because Lowes is 5 miles away. EGO ftw
That's one thing to influence a buying decision. EGO does sell direct on Amazon and tend to have better deals there most of the time.
Hello there I’ve been watching your videos for a while and you are putting a lot of good Contant I really appreciate that thank you and you were saying how it’s not comfortable to hold these leaf blowers, Ego has a backpack with one battery or two batteries that gives up to 800 CFM if it’s modified I think it would be much better solution what do you think?
Just looked at that and this would solve the balance and weight issues for sure. Only thing I don't know is how in the way will that cable be and how long is it to get in your way when reaching for the roof among other things.
I’ve got the ego blower and it doesn’t sound nearly as harsh as in the video. I think there’s something about the acoustics or the mic. Regarding the battery weight I’ve got the ego mower, blower, trimmer and hedge cutter and use one 10ah battery and one 2.5ah battery. I can finish almost any job with the blower with the 2.5ah battery, certainly drying my car. As you mentioned both batteries can be used in all the tools which makes them very versatile. For the weight I think the 2.5ah battery is the way to go for the handheld tools. I may pick up another one.
Yeah the 2.5 I bet is much less weight and size. The sound to me is the way it is in the video, but remember this is an enclosed garage with an echo so a higher pitched sound will sound even higher. I myself just don't like the sound so used to the much quieter Ryobi and my family never complains about it. They have complained about the 765 when I have used it late at night. This would not be as big an issue when deciding to buy one for me if I was using it outside. LOL
EGO now makes its own stubby nozel thats smaller and cheaper than the aftermarket competition. just so yall know
Awesome! Probably has better R&D on the performance as well.
@@CarsWithKeav i think u can still use a blower band even tho its a round nozzle
@@ScrungoScrubs Even then lots of elastic rubber out there to modify to fit. Maybe some old rubber bracelets everybody used to wear would work. LOL
Recently purchased both. Ended up keeping the Ego. The Ryobi blower is just too bulky, IMO. I really wanted to keep the Ryobi because it was a lot quieter. I always use hearing protection when using the blower but, minimizing the high pitch noise is preferred. I also already owned Ryobi batteries so I only needed to purchase the blower only, which was a plus. BUT.. when I heard that the Ego 765 bundle was on sale at Lowes and Amazon AND they also included with the lighter 2.5 Ah battery I went that route. I purchased the Ego brand short nozzle and I really like it.
The Ryobi is more bulky for sure. Yeah, that is a great deal with the extra battery. I think EGO is starting to adopt some of the Ryobi sales models with the battery deals. Being in an enclosed garage the sound is a big factor for me. My family never complained late at night when using the Ryobi. The first night using the 765 they let me know they could hear it.
I've got an EGO 650, which came with a 5 amp hour battery. Then I also got a string trimmer and hedge trimmer which I purchased while there was a special... buy the tool and get a free 2.5 amp hour battery. Anyway, I use the EGO 650 with a 2.5 amp hour battery which cuts the weight significantly and still has enough power to dry a Toyota Highlander.
Right now there is a deal to buy the 765 and you get a 5ah battery and they throw in a free 2.5ah. I think they are starting to market like Ryobi does with the battery deals.
I also use the smaller 2.5 on my 650 and can do multiple cars being that I don't "completely" dry the car with it. Just get enough of the water off the car and out of the grill, emblems, mirrors, etc. Then usually go over the car with a towel and drying aid.
Thanks for the info all. Planning to purchase the EGO soon and was hoping to be able to cut weight with the 2.5 Ah battery.
I have had the EGO 765 for 18 months or so and I love it. It’s a little on the heavy side but acceptable.
Great review Keav. Keep them coming.
You can't go wrong either way really. I suggest hearing protection with the EGO if in a confined garage .
EGO Rocks.... especially if you have the EGO line of products (ie their pressure washer).
They have a some great products the fit and finish is better.
Just bought an Ego 670CFM. literally sounds like a household vaccum cleaner. Either the 765 is just obnoxiously loud, which I don't think is the case because in no other videos does the 765 sound like this. So I think it's either the room you're in or there is something wrong with your blower.
The 670cfm blower I have from ego dries the car just as fast as the 765. The 765 might be miloseconds faster at drying but not worth the extra $100 in price to get the 765. The 670cfm all you need. Spending nearly $400 on a leaf blower is just stupid. I can't justify it. I picked up my 670 for $265 after tax. Still expensive, but much better than $400 after tax on the 765 Ego
You can pickup a 765 with battery for $330 and when I bought I got on sale for $299. I use these as multi faceted items I use them in the yard as well so I want the extra power. Read the comments quite a few people complain of the extra noise the 765 makes and the decibel meter don’t lie. Compared to the Ryobi it’s night and day noise wise. Never tried a 670 so I’m not going to comment on how it works, but sounds like it works great. We all buy what we want or need some don’t care about the most powerful, but I’m one that does so I will always get that one. Hope the 670 treats you well!
Many many thanks. Love your channel !!! Learn so much!!
You're Welcome
Ear protection is a must no matter which machine you use!
What did you say?
This is true which is one of the main reasons I like the Ryobi it is like 80db which is under the suggested level of 85db for hearing protection. The EGO is above that for sure.
Hearing protection for how loud the blowers are is what they were referring to.
Wondering if you can weigh in on using a “blower” port on a vacuum as an air tool for detailing vs the tornador-- I have the ego 9 gallon 56V with lots of power and was considering buying the makita 18V duster/blower hand held - for interiors /blowing out pads/ect. Any thoughts. I’m a big fan of keav. Many thanks. Owen from Atlanta 😊
I have not hhad any good success using the blower port of a shop vac. I have not tried the EGO one to say for sure, but it only has 110cfm of suction so on the blower side it wouldn't be much more. For the interior carpets the Tornador style devices don't have much competition they are that good. If you have Ryobi batteries their new handheld 18v is crazy good and would do way better than a vac blower could. ATL represent!
The ego sounds like Michael winslow when he was doing the electric razor impression in police academy. I go with the ryobi
That’s a great comparison on the sound. 🤣
Another great testing video from Keav.
Thank You
Dude it’s like you have a 6th sense…I was literally going to Lowe’s today after work to get the Ego blower 😂
Nice! Hope you got a good deal. If you didn't buy they are doing an extra free 2.5 battery on Amazon with a blower and at $300.
@@CarsWithKeav Thanks bro! I actually got a pretty good deal on it. Got the blower with the 5ah battery and an extra 2.5ah battery all for $230 (my GF works at Lowe’s so she gets me good deals on stuff 😂)
@@Tanner_Teves That's awesome and an amazing deal. That deal is a resellers dream.
Forgot to ask - on the same think of the hand help ryobi blower wort 220 PSI - have you heard/used the makita hand held duster /blower. Similar - thanks much
I have not used a Makita handheld yet. I have heard its pretty good.
I bought the EGO 615 kit (older model) but not using it for car drying. Too much weight compared to my Makita 18v blower that easily can use one hand
The new Ryobi Hand Held 18v is crazy good it has the performance of mid grade big units.
SO THESE ARE THE BEST BECAUSE I NEED TO BUY 1?
I think these are the two best out there. The newer greenworks are supposed to be good and much quieter. Going to review one of those at some point.
@@CarsWithKeav TY M8
Great video Keav. I have had an EGO 650 for probably a couple years now and it does everything I need it to do. All that you said about noise and fatigue from the weight is spot on. And I also only use the turbo mode for wheels, grilles and very tight places to get all the water out.
Somebody suggest their single battery backpack so you move all the weight there and the handheld just has a tethered cable. Wonder how weird it feels to use that.
@@CarsWithKeav For the few minutes that it takes to blow the water off, that sounds like too much trouble to me. I'll just work with the blower the way it is.
I like more the cabled blowers since they don't take much space to store and can use them inside the vehicle too.😜
I hate cords plus I use these for the yard too so one tool multiple uses.
@CarsWithKeav yes, I agree if to use on yard and outside of the car for drying, but exclusively for cars the cabled ones since can be used inside and out though 😜
Which corded leaf blower do you use for interiors?
Agree if have a way to plug in, but I use a pet dryer for interiors similar to metro sidekick
First!!!
Great video! I was ready to purchase Ryobi new 18v blower made specifically for car drying but will give this attachment a try.
I think doing a test on a panel that isn’t ceramic coated would have been better as most people don’t have that on their car. Wonder how effective it would be then?
I would not leaf blow a none ceramic coated car it is a much slower inefficient process. I ceramic coat so it’s quicker to blow them off. If not coated I would use a drying towel.
Ego batteries are very good but yeah, very heavy, most of the time I use the smaller 2.5Ah just because it's the lightest.
Lots of people seem to prefer the 2.5
I have a Toyota tundra when I finish with the Ego. I’m tired because it’s heavy.
Some have said to try and use 2.5 amp batteries if you have them makes a difference in weight.
You can get an extra battery with the EGO currently. It's a 2.5 amp hr one. So you can drop 299 and get alittle extra power. Also, if you go to LOWES try to get the Military discount and get another $30 off. Pretty good deal for this blower.
That’s a good idea you deserve a bigger discount than that for serving our country. Thank you for that. On the other note EGO seems to have changed their marketing strategy this taking a more Ryobi type approach with free batteries and other types of things. They could also have a big inventory of aged batteries they need to get rid of as well. Either way free is free!
Definitely a hard choice. Listening on an S23 ultra and that Ego sound is painful 😬
It’s got that high pitch, but the garage does echo some so outside would be less of a problem.
I own a Ryobi blower and use an Ego blower at work and I can tell you, the noise the Ego makes is painful when you have it up near your head. If you use it for any extended period of time, you should definitely use ear protection.
Appreciate your insight and experience. For sure hearing protection is needed.
Do you think a flat nozzle would work better than the round ones? I see some flat stubby options online for the Ryobi blowers.
I have not tried them. Would be more difficult to work around the car for sure more chances to possibly contact the surface. I tried the one that came with my handheld Ryobi blower and it didn’t work work, but way less cfm on that one could be different with higher cfm.
Ego is down to $230. With an extra 2.5ah battery it is $299.
Nice! That’s a deal!
Another great comparison! Very cool
Thank You
I have an EGO blower with multiple batteries so it’s a no brainer for me to get the EGO stubby
That is the main decision factor by far. The value is too great to get more batteries for a great deal. Now your hooked because you don't want 3 different battery brands to deal with.
I feel like EGO used to be the king of the battery market, but others are catching up now. The Ryobi for sure sounds more pleasant to the ear to use
Its is, but they both have great qualities which make making a decision much harder nowadays most end up buying based on the battery environment they are using.
My Echo gas-powered blower is still strong.
I’ve always been concerned with gas and the particles form the exhaust getting into beads on the car. How do you handle that or do you have any issues with two stroke smoke, etc. Of course can’t use gas in the garage unless I want to get high. 🤣
@CarsWithKeav for inside in the garage ofc battery powered blower make sense. But if you are in the out side, you will not have a problem. For contamination, there is not much because the flower's nozzle is long enough to keep a safe distance from the car. For wheels, it's a win in my book since I don't need to bend over with shobby nozzle. In your environment, an air compressor will be more beneficial
@@Carlos.Rivera I have tried, but my 20 gallon can’t keep up and the compressor running constant is annoying. Plus you are stuck dealing with a hose. Outside only other reason for me is battery tends to have way less vibration, noise and not much maintenance needed unless you have the EGO then it can be louder than a gas one.
@@CarsWithKeav that's why I'm contemplating rinseless wash (partial, wheels will be pressure washer)
@@Carlos.Rivera Don’t say that word. Hurts my ears. 🤣🤣🤣 it’s a valid wash process I just like foam and pressure washer spraying to
Much to give it up. Also, the one process I hate more than anything is towel trying with a drying aid.
Since I already have a Stihl leaf blower, that's what I use. But I have an EGO trimmer/edger combo, and I am very happy with this unit!
You can't go wrong either way!
Love the Keav! Saw you in triple interview w Josh etc...
Thanks, that was a fun conversation with Matt and Josh.
Thanks so much for reviewing the STUBBY nozzle Keav! Great video.
You’re welcome
I modified the Ryobi blower so the turbo is a push button. Basically turbo with the control speed ability.
I plan on doing something similar. My turbo button is starting to get wore out as well.
@@CarsWithKeav yeah I never have to push it. It's just on now. A button and two wires. You would never know by looking at it that I changed it.
Ya…hah. I love to wash and detail our cars but this…this is a whole new level of lazy. Nothing beats a good leather whammy. Period. Yep. It’s more work but it gets rid of the streaks, dry drops etc. i see this as a colossal waste of $$$. My 2 cents worth.
We all have our ways! No waste of money as it’s my leaf blower for the yard anyways. Not sure about lazy though it still takes time and you’re holding an 8 lb object that whole time so it’s a good workout. I do it as I don’t want to touch the car again this minimizes marring for me.
@@franzkemple3294 Exactly, not the way everybody does it, but lazy is for sure not the word I would use for it.
Have you tried the dealt 54v? I have the 18v it's too weak
I have not. Not sure if Snubby Nozzle Co reviewed on their video or not will have to look.
Where can I purchase the stubby nozzle for the ryobi
Stubby Nozzle Co website stubbynozzles.com/collections/all-products/products/stubby%E2%84%A2-car-drying-nozzle-for-ryobi-730-650-600-cfm-leaf-blowers?variant=44973703594259
Do you think an EGO 2.5 Ah battery would be sufficient to dry an entire car including wheels?
It is 2 pounds lighter than the 5 Ah....
Thanks for the comparo vid Keav!
It would be close, but possible if you don’t use turbo at all.
We run 2 2.5 and a 5ah in our mobile business with the ego blower. 100% it knocks out a full size truck AND the bed on turbo mode. Runtime is still well over 10minutes maxxed out with the 2.5. Keep in mind, something we noticed, the 2.5ah tends to produce a quieter but significantly higher pitch squeal that hurts the ears that the 5ah doesn't.
@@OlisNewLand Good to know. Thanks for the info!
What’s the lowest CFM needed to efficiently dry a car? I don’t want to splurge on a high CFM one if I can get away with a cheaper/lower CFM one
500 CFM is a good number. Many liked the EGO 570 which I think is discontinued now. You can use any CFM really it’s just the more you have the quicker it blows off the water.
@@CarsWithKeav thank you so much! That’s very helpful to know :)
@@bondgirlo you’re welcome
home depot no longer carries EGO
This is true. Mainly at Lowe’s.
EGO products rock. Got 9 of them!
They are great products.
do you have a drain in your garage?
Yup, I have a channel system I air hammered myself. It’s unconventional, but it works.
That sounds difference is crazy!
Yeah, Ryobi is actually well under the limit for the hearing protection, but EGO for sure need hearing protection.
Greenworks please..
I will keep that in mind to review in the future.
Current pricing(since March) on EGO everywhere is $299 for Blower + 2.5 & 5.0 Ah Batteries.
Amazon has offering the Blower + 5.0 Battery for $230 periodically for the past two weeks.
Every few days the price momentarily drops for several hours then goes right back up. Check daily and you can snag it.
EGO marketing team is finally adopting a Ryobi style campaign using battery incentives.
If I am not mistaken, there is either some or no authorized sellers at all on Amazon. If you buy from an unauthorized, Ryobi will deny a warranty claim. Just read a review on the first blower I looked at, on Amazon, saying "do not purchase from this seller, Ryobi denied my claim after the batteries stopped working after a couple months." Again, not 100% on whether there are ANY authorized sellers on Amazon.
@@1991NOS I don’t think anybody is authorized at least in the U.S. to sell Ryobi other than Home Depot. There could be others which is the hard part so best to probably buy there just to make sure. Ok take risks sometimes to Dave a few dollars.
@@CarsWithKeav Yea but trying to save a few, a lot of times ends up with you getting screwed. While I don't fully embrace the saying "if it aint full price, I aint buying" I definitely embrace the thought process of being a savvy consumer and "getting what you pay for".
@@1991NOS Makes absolute sense. I like playing the high volume game I have never gotten and extended warranty and buy as cheap as I can in the long run I think I’m ahead of course never been keeping a tally either. 🤣
how about the notion that these since they have no filters can project dust particles/dirt on your paint? Also further more if you use them for leaf blowing and picks up even more stuff for next time used on car? FYI I have the Ryobi and works well. (better seems on your panel with ceramic coating?)
I always blow my intake out with a compressed air hose when done leaf blowing. The particles in the air could for sure be an issue if outside when there is construction or somebody using a lawnmower nearby. In the garage if it’s in the air particles would be too small to cause an issue. These are the main reasons I buy the billet and built the wash bay.
I saw a comment on here about particles coming out of the blower onto car but if I’m strictly using it to dry my car, I won’t have to worry about that right?
It would just be the particles in the air. The back of these sucks in air as others blower runs. Thing is if the particles are in the air they are going to land on the car anyways. I do see if you are outside and the neighbor is mowing the grass sending dirt clouds at you. Best not to dry then as it could suck in that air and sent it at the paint and could be abrasive.
@@CarsWithKeav let’s say I’m in a open area like a car wash bay and no one around me is cutting grass or whatever
@@Stay_True_- I see no issue then. I’ve been using lead blowers to dry in all conditions for years without problems.
@@CarsWithKeav awesome. My plan to buy one because in a few weeks I’ll be buying a 2024 black Honda civic sport and I’m getting the car full ppf wrap and full ceramic coat so I’m looking for the best way to dry the car with the least amount of physical drying to avoid any swirls or scratches. I want to do my very best to keep it clean.
@@Stay_True_- Nice! With all that the car is going to be very easy to keep clean. Good idea to limit contact as Honda Black paint is very soft and scratches easily. Also, think about spotless water for the final rinse. When using a blower with tap water you can evaporate the minerals into the surface masking the coating and not getting the best glossy look.
