  • In this video I go over how after much trial and error I was able to get my mirrors aligned in minutes vs hours.

    I just wanted to say thank you so much. With this video I aligned my laser after installing a new tube in about 15 minutes. We've been down for over a month and a half now trying to get the new tube under warranty from Omtech. Thanks Again!

    THANK YOU FOR THIS! I spent 4 hours last night trying to get the laser 100% centered. Now I know what to do!
    Edit: So that is why my laser is not cutting right! the laser tube that came with my 80w chinese black and red laser is crap! my 'dots' on the blue tape are in the shape of a donut! Great! now I have to buy a new laser tube! But at least I finally know what is wrong with my laser! I have been fighting with my laser for the past year, and all this time I thought it was my mirror alignment! Thank you very much for this video! Also, Subscribed!

      @@vanstray I wish. I have been having this issue for a year now. I can get it to cut, but its never perfect. I have a tube that I bought as a back-up a long time ago. I am going to install that next and test it out. Besides, I don't think those ebay sellers will send me a new one anyway. Thank you for replying!

    Great video, but I am confused about something.
    You don't need to be dead center, but only parallel - but the beam bouncing off Mirror #3 *does* need to be dead center and perpendicular to the cutting bed (ie: straight up and down). Doesn't that follow that the the beam going into Mirror 3 needs to be center - and the only way to make that point go dead center *and* parallel is to get mirror #2 both dead-center and parallel, and thus needing mirror #1 to be parallel and dead center? This really means that Mirror #1 and mirror #2 don't need to be dead center, but if they are throwing parallel beams but going into #3 isn't dead center then it's the tube translation that needs to be adjusted - or do you adjust the translation of the cutting head at that point?

    Hi Kimani! I used your correction. It didn't happen 20 min but I finally got it. Thanks. I'm a new laser user and I've had my laser 6 weeks now and I still haven’t cut out a thing. I bought an Omtech 60 W and a few of the trimmings. I bought a 4ply vent, I bought a chiller, and a rotary. I've become good at pulling out glass blocks windows...you can imagine. Everything I fix something else is wrong. Now I'm trying to get the ramp test to work. It's a faint line no matter what. I've tried help this week from Omtech & nice people but no one has come up with: all the usual. Can you please help?

    It didn't show where the tape goes on the 4 corner test. You said on the laser head. So is that the#3 mirror or the bottom of the tube? And your laser looks brand-new how do you keep it so clean?

    I have done all test and all beams are on top of each other for each mirror. I do an engraving test and I get double lines still. Im not sure how to fix that. People have said its the beam that goes down from the third mirror that needs to be adjusted. When I do the tape over the nozzle it shows one beam and then when I do the test on a piece of wood from near and far it shows one beam. I am about to give up at this point. Please help!!

    • @vanstray
      @vanstray  Рік тому +1

      Is the beam from the nozzle in the center of the tape or off to the left or the right? I would say try adjust the nozzle mirror just a tad to get it more centered and try again. If you’re still getting double lines I’d carefully take out the lens and clean it just in case

    • @southernwondernc
      @southernwondernc Рік тому

      @@vanstray Thank you for responding, I have done both and still double lines. I did notice that when I cleaned the lens that there is a white ring that comes out along with the sliver ring that holds the lens in place. Do you think the white ring could be causing the double lines?

    • @vanstray
      @vanstray  Рік тому

      No the white ring is like a washer to secure it in. And If there are not burn marks on it then it’s not hitting the ring. It has to be bouncing off something for the beam to split like that. When you see the double lines are they both the same size and thickness or is one lighter than the other

    i was hoping this video was to re align the mirrors on an rgb multi laser club lighting system laser similar to your thumbnail 😕 need to do this for an out of alignment panoramic thunderbird laser system. any ideas or tips? the 3 lasers dont line up on the output pattern visuals and are side by side rather than layered on top of each other.

    • @vanstray
      @vanstray  Рік тому

      That’s a new on for me, I can only say the thing that made it easiest for me to get them aligned was knowing they didn’t have to be dead center to the mirror. So if just matched what came out or the laser head to the other mirrors they all lined up on the Same spot

    crap.... i think my tube is fked up... just received the machine and the tube makes a huge ass dot... probably a donut... the plasma inside the tube on the exit side sparks around in circles... is that normal?

    • @vanstray

      Sparks usually aren’t a good sign, would definitely check all the wiring connections. Also take a video of the sparks and the dot or donut it’s making on low power so if you have to contact support you can submit all that stuff at the same time so you don’t have to wait around for them to reply and ask for it. Also if you’re on FB check the group as well

    I have been struggling with aligning my 3rd mirror. When I have the laser at the front right corner and pulse, it doesn’t even show a dot. I have tried the index card and still no dot. I move the laser to the front left and pulse and a dot shows up very far to the left. How can I get this corrected?

    • @vanstray
      @vanstray  2 роки тому

      You’ll need to adjust the 2nd mirror until it gets towards the center on the third mirror. Then move it to the middle machine test again to see if it’s till hitting the mirror then move it all the way to the far right for the final text

      @VanStray Flux Beamo, it's 30watts. I did a mirror alignment and one of my screws broke. I replaced it and now I'm good to go. Representative told me that the first pulse is at lowest level and to put tape on the first mirror to test the health. If it burns through on the 3rd or 4th of 5 pulses, it's "healthy".

      I could see you point, but Laser adjustment isn't a one size fits all part of the process. My laser had way different needs than my friends laser when it came to getting her mirrors aligned, but I was able to follow the same methods I show in the video to get hers adjusted even if it took more tweaking (her mirror was loose inside the bracket). And i'd need to invest in one of those reverse lasers to really show the process, so if Omtech wants to invest in my videos and send me one i'd gladly do an updated video. :-)

    Nice video, but I hate people making a video on how to align your Laser mirrors, and then they don't show a real situation.
    From the very beginning, all your mirrors were already PERFECTLY aligned. It would be a much better video if you had actually shown starting with an out-of-the-aligned mirror and then actually gone through the steps to rectify the alignment.
    Showing a PERFECTLY aligned laser does NOT match your video title.

    • @vanstray
      @vanstray  2 роки тому

      First off Thanks for saying my alignment was perfect I had to run down more than a few rabbit holes to fix it.
      Second, I under part of your point, but the issue is everyone’s alignment situation is different and a 20 minute video of me tweaking a knob is probably way less helpful than explaining the process. Once I understood I didn’t have to chase dead center the alignment took like 15-20 minutes so the theory behind the video title is sound and has been shown to work in practice on other machines. If I had or ever get a laser guided alignment tool so people can actually see the beams align I’d gladly do an updated video showing the process
