I have officially watched every single video on your channel. I've been watching them from the start, and I'm not even pregnant and I have no kids (yet)! Your education has made me me ecstatic for birth and labor!! Thank you so much. I can't wait for the birth courses!!
For any parent watching this, potentially panicking because their child simply won't crawl, but insists on going straight to walkning - don't panic. Walking is also a cross-lateral movement and so far, there is no convincing research suggesting that people who didn't crawl as children, perform significantly worse in any of the mentioned fields in their grownup years.
Side note. The yoga ball is great for babies who love to be bounced instead of rocked. Thats my baby's favorite way to fall asleep. I swear bouncing on the ball all this time has helped my stomach muscles come back together without much effort.
@@criminyworldriseedify8962 I was at a 3 to 4 finger gap now I'm like 1 1/2 to 2 gap. I've done exercises, but I've consistently bounced on the ball basically every day lol. If I tried harder it would probably better at this point.
@retiredmenace You lay back with your knees up, and then you lift your head as if to do a crunch. Then you would use your fingers to measure the space between your stomach muscles.
Just put my baby on a yoga ball and he LOVED it! My little guy is 9mo and has hated tummy time and rolling over, no matter how much I try to get him used to them. Excited to try these different tips! Thanks so much!
My baby is almost 8.5 months old and you can tell she desperately wants to crawl but hasn’t quite figured it out! I’m excited to watch this video to see if I can help her along!
My son is 8.5 months old and also not crawling, he just basically swims in the air and gets worked up he can't crawl. I'm so stressed about it because my cousin has a baby exactly 1 week older and she is already crawling so it adds to my worry. How is your baby doing now?
@BiellasPointofView he is doing amazing!! He turned a year old yesterday! He strictly army crawled until about 11.5 months (and didnt learn how to army crawl until about 10 months old) and then he figured out how to crawl on all fours, pull himself up on the couch to stand, gets onto the furniture and even cruises along it real fast all in the last month! He actually was pulling to stand before he figured out how to crawl on all fours and he still favors army crawling but does standard crawl when he wants to. If I could go back I'd tell myself not to worry for sure! ❤️ your baby is going kick butt too 🥰
@BiellasPointofView my son started doing that before army crawling as well! The first time he ever managed to push himself forward was trying to get to my plate of food 😆 he only would push with his right foot at first. I was afraid of cereal palsy since he only used his right side at first. But once they get going they really take off! My son said these words in this order: baby, mama (or mum mum lol), dada, kitty kitty, meow 🤣 and he learned them all in the last 2 months.
This was really informative! Our baby is a preemie. He is almost a year old, but corrected age 10 months. We are working with him on crawling now! He does kind of a frog hop/ army crawl..... but hes moving, and we are celebrating!!!!
My oldest hated tummy time and would scream if we put her in that position. We finally took her to a chiropractor who adjusted her hip when she was around 11 months old. She stopped screaming in the tummy time position and finally learned to crawl at 1 yr. Since then all of my kids get checked as newborns by an amazing chiropractor who specializes in kids :)
Lol - I skipped crawling as a baby, and was not raised in a traditional American household, and graduated higher ed summa cum laude and received multiple performance related scholarships throughout.
My baby has hit all of his milestones early. He is 4 months and already has the crawling motion down. He just needs to get the strength to get up on his hands and knees. This video was helpful for me so i can help strengthen his muscles.
I like how you present the tips giving the science info behind it, really appreciate it! I will definitely try tips #6 (elevate) and #9 (table hips) and the one with showing how to crawl. My 7 months old daughter already figured out the four point position without any help. She is rocking her body front and back while in it but she doesn't know what to do next :D Hope I can at least slightly help her :)
This is the best and most simple video I’ve watched about crawling! My son is just now 5 months but he wiggles and does planks and will roll over to his toys sometimes he gets aggravated not being able to get them tho so I wanna help him!
Thanks for the ideas, Bridget! I would also love to see a video on helping baby learn to sit. My 8 month old girl has started to tummy crawl and sometimes bends her knees like she’s trying to classic crawl, but can’t sit up completely on her own yet.
My son is the same way. When did she start to crawl? He is sitting on his own for the most part, he just throws himself backwards still so we have to sit behind him
My baby is almost 9mos old in 9 days. She’s sitting up on her own and can get on her tummy herself squirms around a little like I’ll have her facing one way then next thing I know she’s turned the complete opposite way! I’m hoping she’ll be crawling soon l! Going to try these activities to see if they help ❤️❤️

Hello Ms. Bridget Teyler, thank you for sharing this. I am one of the many who benefit from the knowledge and expertise you share. I hope you will have time to read my comment. My son is almost 13 months old. He doesn't like crawling too much. I don't remember seeing him crawling that much. When he goes for a toy which few feet away, he would crawl on fours halfway there and then would attempt to stand up and walk toward it. I am worried that he might be skipping a very important skill as you mentioned at the beginning of your video. I will do the activities you recommended. Please advise...also, can my son's going straight to walking be linked to hyperactivity?
My little Kiori born 11/4/2021 starting rolling over by herself at 4 weeks, sitting up by herself at 4 months, crawling at 5 months. However, at 6 months she is pulling up and walking around tables and our sofa.. We think she'll be walking by 8 months not looking forward to that.....

The only thing about the mirror in the kids room, for very young children, you want an acrylic or plastic mirror. A glass mirror isn’t safe for a babies room.
I am very happy that you said how is important to not skip crawling. In american sources I often see things like ,,some babies don’t crawl and that’s okay” or ,,creeping also counts”. Sometimes things happen but it’s not ideal. And we need to talk about it. American approach to childs development is still shocking to me but happy to see this one.
