Baby is not walking independently yet, but he uses the push walker and also cruises on the furniture, he moves from a furniture to another and this week he did his first steps letting go 😊 we are really exited to see him. We don’t give him both hands to walk in the room, he reaches out for one hand and likes me to walk by his side. I make sure he doesn’t walk on his toes and uses the whole feet, not sure if this is ok though.
My baby started walking and taking her first steps at 10 months and then suddenly lost interest and throws herself down on her knees and crawl's instead when we encourage walking. What could that be?
baby is able to stand and cruise but he goes back to crawling once he takes the toy off from a higher place. how to encourage him to remain cruising or standing?
Just wanted to say thank you so much for this. At 20 months we were starting to get worried (starting physical therapy etc.) but the tips in this video made a huge difference. After two weeks of practice holding under her arms instead of her hands she's walking as of today!
My baby is 16 months and doesn't walk independently. When we make him walk, he does take 2-3 steps on his own but looks like he is unwilling to walk. We are getting concerned now.
Thank you for sharing. Our second son is 15 months and has a habit of throwing himself down when having a tantrum. And no interest in walking. He is beginning to stand, some but scoots and crawling very little. He is a big boy and prefers to be held as she has suggested. It’s quite a workout 😅

I agree. My 9 month has been cruising for 2 months also. I was wondering when he would take his first steps. For the last two weeks he has been taking 2 steps independently several times 3 times a day. I brought him around his walking cousins that are both 1 yrs old for the weekend and he increased to 5 steps. He keeps reverting back to crawling though.

I am so glad I clicked because I just started letting my baby grab my index fingers to take steps and I saw she was walking quickly and on her tip toes. I felt like she was trying to keep her balance, but i didn't know what method to use because everyone kept telling me, "you need to get her a walker" over and over.. i knew i didn't need one, but I finally broke and got a walker and I push trolly. I see that she wants to walk very much because when she crawls she takes her foot to step forward almost like lunges but she just drags herself forward and switches legs.. if you can imagine that.. I wanted to help her, so I walked laps around the coffee table with her holding her hands when she wants to play until she flops down on her bottom when she wants a rest 😂 She is 8 months, pulling herself up on everything, even my legs sometimes even standing on her own support when she thinks she's grabbing me but it's actually just my pant leg (I have my hands ready to steady her if it's needed, but for the most part, she catches and steadys herself well. On her own, she taught herself how to move around the sectional, because she is curious about everything. She steps over my legs to attempt to get to what she wants. She has taught me to be vigilant when there is a beverage near! Lol She's ahead of her milestones, and as a first time mom, I am very proud of that I feel truly blessed, now I want to educate myself more on childhood development so I can encourage her better and not set her back by mistake 😅. I love that you said holding the baby by there hands while they walk is good playtime, but not for walking development. I will allow her to do more of the correct exercises that she is already doing. Ps. This was a late night post and I was falling asleep so I hope was able to keep some kind of sentence structure. I'm falling asleep. Thanks for posting
Top tip don't hold both their hands they do get reliant on that you can feel that when you do it, they directed you because they want you to bring them places which is pretty clever. Hold one hand and switch hands and let go (safely, when balanced) often. They will swing and lose balance but they need to do this. My baby was walking within a week of me doing this with her. She had no interest in walking by herself. I started walking her the last couple blocks to nursery (one handed) every day and all of a sudden she started running from table to chair. That was a couple months ago, she's really steady on her feet now.
Hi. Your videos are useful. Thank you for yout hard work :) Just here to say push walkers are not for every baby. Ma baby stood up at 7,5 month and started walking holding on to furniture since 9 montg old. On the meanwhile he was crawling a lot too, standing and walking with support. At almost 1 year old he made first few steps be himself and then asker for our hand. Considering how long he have been standing and walking beside furniture we help him walk. We tried push walker which was a catastrophy as he dod not let me help him to control and not pushing it to everythinv, and avoiding falling. If I let him and he fell he bocome upset. So pusha walker did not work for us. Couple of days ago we started to ask him to walk to us, we were just couple of steps away. We play this game onky 3 days and now he started to walking more and more by himself. Semm he just needed to get confident, but to be honest I dont think I did something wrong giving him some support when he asked for it :)
Thank you so much for this. My 7 month old loves pulling up on everything to standing and I always tell her no whenever she tries to do it on the coffee table or ottoman just because I’m afraid she might fall. I should’ve encouraged her more.
My son is 13months, he can literally climb anything, can cruise along furniture, he uses the push walker as well…BUT he is not walking yet. I will definitely try the other methods. Thank you.
You're so great. Thank you Emma. I've been watching these past few months and you're spot on with all the developments and its so nice to know ahead of time what milestones are coming up so I can get prepared. Thanks again!
At what stage in the walking journey should babies be wearing shoes? I hear all sorts of opinions and would be interested to hear what you think. Also is there anything I should be looking out for (or avoiding) when it comes to buying them? I find your videos really helpful so thank u
Hi - I recently made video on when to introduce the shoes and how to choose the best shoes for babies which I think answers this question. I hope it helps ua-cam.com/video/GjIpOKEnlNs/v-deo.html😁
I am watching all your videos when I get the notification. My 10 month baby is cruising. He can't stand alone without support. And he can't walk yet. Can you help me? How to teach him
Definitely need to try this. My baby is 16 months and still not walking (her elder sister didn’t walk til 18 months lol) this will hopefully speed along the process!
Thank you so much. My baby girl is 15 months old. I am a little concerned about her as she hasn't started to walk all by herself. She does walk with support, cruises along the walls, furniture etc. Recently, she has started using walker. However, I am wondering when will she start to walk independently.
Hi Harleen it sounds like she is getting close to walking independently. It's great she has started using a push walker. This will help her further improve her balance and weight shifting skills which are required to walk. I think she just needs a little more time. But if you are concerned always check in with her doctor.
My 11month old baby girl is pulling herself up on everything in our house, she hasn't started inching herself along the couch yet but I'm going to take your advice and place one of her favorite toys near her reach on the couch and see how she does! 👶🏼🐥🚸You gave some really solid tips, thank you so much! (: I'll keep watching
@@zendybithao3525 don't pressure her. show her trust coz babies can feel our emotions. i also made him a handle from cloth like a little muppet which i passed around his waist and under his arms to relieve some of the weight for the first few days until his muscles get stronger. but u dont have to do this. just let her do her thing while u are around ready to catch her in case she falls. i would suggest never let her walk before the 6th month on her own
Hi Emma. So my daughter is just starting to pull herself up to standing and she her toes are sometimes curled in, her ankles are straight (almost as if she doesn’t have an arch) and sometimes pigeon toed. Is this normal or are there exercises I should be doing to correct this? Your videos are amazing and so helpful! We have been using them for reference since she was born and you always have a video for every milestone we are hitting 😊. Thank you!
Hi Emma, I need some advised from you. My boy is already 18months and not walking independently. He can cruise to take things and walk holding our finger. When will try to let go one of the finger he refused. He can walking holding one of our finger and the other hand holding anything. Sometime he will be lazy and don't wan to walk Need your advise to how to let my boy walk independently without holding us.
Hi Emma, thank you for the video. What tips would you recommend to facilitate walking for a baby already cruising along walls and furniture if you do not have a walker?
Hi Samantha kids will push around absolutely anything if it can support their weight and is at the right height. My daughter would push her highchair around. I have seen kids push cardboard boxes, washing basket and, toy boxes. Hope that helps!
I literally can’t make this up I watched this video went over to my 15 month old niece and she started walking after 5 mins of encouraging her My sister can’t stop crying now because she was worried that she wasn’t walking “best uncle ever”🤣
Hello and big thank You for all your advice. I am watching You from Romania and i have i question for You: is walker harness good or bad? I have a 13 months old doughter and stilul does not wall, unless i hold her hands, and now, thanks țo You, i know it is not good. Plus, She seems to drag or walking in tiptoe with one leg, sometimes both. Thank You for your time!
Add this to the things I wish I would have known a few months ago! Very informative video. Wish I hadn’t been cruising around with my toddler like this for the past 2 months 🥲
So we have been doing hand holding not knowing about the whole throw off balance thing. However, I just sent this video to hubby informing home to do the walker more. Our baby is 15 months and I'm worried. However, I see now where we are messing up at. Thanks for the video. 😊
Hello Emma my daughter got up on her own for the first time when she was 6 months old now she is in the first days of 8 months and she is doing great going around everyone at home i leave her in the living room and she comes to me when i call her in the kitchen walking intercepting for a chair, a sofa or even a door on the other side for the pushing walker when she is angry to push her she falls is not stable the plastic walker itself cannot withstand its weight also my mother advises me to empty her stability by giving her two videos one at a time in the crab and then to straighten her and hold her waiting for her stability and when she felt her let go she did this every day for a week and she started to stand completely independent the idea of the piles was to replace my hand for which she grabs to keep his balance!! Also huge thanks to you I think that without you we will not be able to great support I would only dream of such a pediatrician for my daughter!! 🥰🥰🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Emma, I love your videos! Thank you for all these developmental lessons. I had a quick question: Would the activity walkers be beneficial too? The walkers that you put them into vs the ones they hold on to.
Our baby is just over three months hes pulling himslef up to stand.always crunching. And all he wants to do is stand. Weve even taken our hands away from under his arms. And he stays for about three seconds befor ehe wobbles. He feels so solid. He started taking steps up us a few wreks ago and now if we put him on the groudn hes walking with our hands under him. We looked up how to help his balance and this video popped up. Its so good to get some confirmation that we havnt been hindering him.
It sounds like all of these points can be true for those standing walkers as well. I noticed that my older daughter developed a bad habit of leaning forward due to using one of these walkers. Is this true?
We are getting a push walker today. Our little - but big, everyone keeps saying that she is huge for her age! So we knew she'd be a bit later with the physical stuff need mor muscle to move her mass - Girl is turning one year and happily cruising around the house on furniture. Thank you so much for your advice on the "next step" 😉

Thanks for your teaching Emma. My 12 months old baby, he can't stand on his own, he doesn't crawl but can sit comfortably. Started teaching him how to walk but his legs are kind of too tiny and they do shake. Am super worried being a first time mum. He stopped sucking at 3 months and his was born with a very low birth weight. Emma please help me on what to do as am getting frustrated.
Emma, love your videos & resources! I thought that walkers weren’t encouraged because it shifts their center of gravity forward and they then aren’t learning balance. Has that thinking changed?
not sure if we should be concerned-my 19 month old grandson onky “walks” on his knees. we have seen him walk on his feel once or twice so know he is able but he may be afraid of falling? he hops in his knees or uses a walking motion on his knees only
Hi Vittie I generally do not recommend using them. Standing at furniture, cruising along furniture and then pushing a push walker are great ways to help a little one learn to walk independently. I have a video on steps to helping a bub learn to walk which you might find helpful. Here is the link in case you would like to watch it: ua-cam.com/video/4fIexgVVzww/v-deo.html
Thanks Emma! Mine is great at pulling up on everything, plays standing up and cruises everywhere for quite sometime. However he’s not interested in walking. Doesn’t want to use the baby push walker. He’s not even interested in holding my hands to walk. He can’t stand up on his own yet. I guess I should just wait. He’s 12 months
Yep your right, oOnce your little one learns how to stand up on his own, he will start to lift one foot to take his first step. Still plenty of time to learn how to walk. Enjoy watching him cruise and play in standing - it's such a lovely time😁
@@annoniification he started walking at 16 months. He just did it on his own. Still totally normal. I just had to go at his pace. He did find interest in using the push walker before he learned to walk. They say crawling is so good for them so at least he got a lot of that in.
Hi I have a question. I have purchased a baby play yard. So it's like a big fence I have placed a hard matress which is not squishy within the playyard. I have placed a quilt on top of the hard matress. My baby keeps falling and walking over it . But she is not an expert Walker she just started. Should I place her on the floor..or is this fine
Hi Emma i have been following your videos and they are really really helpful. Though am a second time mommy each baby is different. My LO is 14 month old he gets on a sofa, bed gets down from backside by himself. He catches table sofa etc and stands for a longer time but has not started to walk or stand independently without support. Any idea how long does it take and is he reaching his milestone? ?
It’s so nice to hear you have found this channel helpful💕 Unfortunately, I can’t say when your little one will start walking. It sounds like he is getting close if he is able to stand independently and cruising well. Generally most bubs start walking by 18 months of age. So I would expect that he might be walking before then. If you have a baby push trolley then that would be good to get out for your little one to use to increase his confidence.
My baby is about a year and a half old. He is capable of walking but he has a fear of walking independently. Unfortunately we did not give him much belly time and we put him in one of those walkers for too long. Now when he attempts to walk on his own, he wants to lean back and stop walking. How can I help him overcome the fear of walking independently? We know he's capable because as long as somebody is somewhat within reach he will try to reach them
My son is 15 months old. He started cruising along furniture. But not interested in using pushwalker how to make him walk with support kind off kindly suggest me.
My baby is 18 months old and she stands up and walk on her own on the bed or mattress but not on the ground. However, she can easily walk on ground while grabbing my one finger. What should we do to encourage her to standup and walk on ground independently.
Hi Emma thank you as always for your informative video. My son has finally started walking assisted with one hand and flat footed, not tip toed but he seems to be scared to let go and walk himself. His balance isn’t the best as yet, he is 14 months and 1 week. He’s a little behind in milestones but catching up, is there anything I can do to encourage him to let go ? or do we just wait to allow him to do it on his own? Thank you
Hi Angie it’s so great to hear your little one is up and walking with only minimal support. He has made huge gains over the past two months. Sounds like he is still building up his walking balance skills and wanting your hand for support. You could bring out a baby push walker (trolley) and help him walk pushing the trolley (you could hold the trolley steady initially or put a small weight in the front tray if it has one). If you don’t have a push walker then continue to provide his with support and he will get there.
Ma'am in one myth video I saw where you do not recommend a walker, however in this video you are suggesting for a push walker. So should we buy a push walker or not just wanted to clarify
Hi! I’m referring to 2 different things in those videos. I recommend the push walker (the ones they stand behind and push), those are great. But I do not recommend the walkers that babies stand inside.

Hey Emma my daughter is 18 months she’s been walking around the furniture and walls, she climbs on everything but hasn’t been comfortable on making the first steps is there any advise I could do to help her??
How much time a day would you suggest using the push walker? My 11 month old is cruising around on furniture and super happy to use the push walker - just not sure on how often we should use it throughout the day to encourage those independent steps!
Hi Emma, I would recommend having the push walker present for every wake period during the day and let him choose how often and long he wants to use the trolley.
My 10 month old has been cruising for at least a month but when he tries on a walker he just pushes it forwards and falls over as he doesn’t move with it. Is there anything I can do to help this?
My daughters turning 2 soon and trying to get her walking but she don't want to she likes crawling.. she will walk around the walls or toys tables or the bed.. or holding our fingers or her push walker but don't want to independently.. what do i do..
My 4 month old is always trying to pull herself up to stand. If we give her our fingers to hold onto she can sit up and stand up easily. But when sitting she still falls over to the side if she isn't holding on to something.
My first was walking at 11 months old and I was expecting a similar thing with my second one. But she is 15 months old now and still not too keen on walking. Shes been pulling herself up and cruising since before her birthday but she is just too scared to stand independantly. I dont know what to do.
my mother and sister in law just reprimanded me for doing this with my almost _10 months old_ nephew... who is on the _very cusp_ of walking (super early, I might add!)... not bc of anything yr saying here, but because they were under the impression that it's *"dangerous"* "they're more likely to get *hurt* being held that way... you're supposed to hold him _under his arms,_ for safety reasons!" - which I probably would've done if he was 4 or months old, but he's gonna be walking ANY DAY now. they both reacted & essentially _lunged at me_ like I'd picked him up by the head or something! I'm looking it up, but I honestly can't figure out where tf they GOT that information, or if they made it up themselves, why on earth would they be under that impression?!??
My son is 9 months and has started cruising along furniture and loves using the push walker to go from one side of the living room to the other. What about helping them walk by only holding one of their hands? I would like to think that the other hand is still working on their balance, no? My little one at first wouldn't take steps with me only holding one hand but over time he has started getting more comfortable which I think it says he's getting closer and closer to taking steps on his own. If not, please let me know. Also, when i try to hold one of his hands I make sure not to pull his arms up in a weird position. I keep his arms lowered. Also I have sometimes provided my index finger for support out in front of him and not up above, would that be okay?

Ps. This was a late night post and I was falling asleep so I hope was able to keep some kind of sentence structure. I'm falling asleep. Thanks for posting
Im currently bribing my 12mo daught with chocolate she has taken 2 inderpendant steps today. Im a proud dad 😊 cant wait to see her running around
You're right that holding by the waist is better, but the problem with that is that it kills our backs. We gotta think about ourselves too!
I love your videos, you are amazing. We’re following you since baby came, now he is 9 months old and cruising along the furniture 🎉
Any suggestions for a 14 month old who is terrified of the push walkers? She cruises great but doesn’t independently stand yet.
Thank you.
Same !! Did he start walking yet ? And what did u do to help him ?

My little brother jumped before he could walk
Hi, same here. Is he walking now?
You're so great. Thank you Emma. I've been watching these past few months and you're spot on with all the developments and its so nice to know ahead of time what milestones are coming up so I can get prepared. Thanks again!
Thanks from Greece Our little one is cruising 🐞🐞🐞
Super exciting your little one is cruising!
I have the walker and been holding her hands. My daughter is desperate to start walking so I'm hoping the rib walk will help. Thank you for the info
It's my pleasure!
Hi Emma . Thank you for this video. Could you kindly share some research articles that speak into this ?
Emma ♥️♥️♥️ thanks alot!!
Ur very smart and helpfully lects heps us to walk baby...
I am watching all your videos when I get the notification. My 10 month baby is cruising. He can't stand alone without support. And he can't walk yet. Can you help me? How to teach him
Thank you Emma, will try this out❤
You’re welcome 😊
Definitely need to try this. My baby is 16 months and still not walking (her elder sister didn’t walk til 18 months lol) this will hopefully speed along the process!
Let me know how it goes!
Same my boy not walking going to b 16months
When ur baby started walking?
Thank you so much, just wanted I need to know!
No worries!
Hello my girl is 14 months and she has is not standing nor crawling should I be worried...
(: I'll keep watching
another great video. my son started cruising at 4 months and walking at 6. so glad for ur videos
Hi.. How did you help him? My baby loves to stand and take step a lot. She is 4 months. Im scared her bones is not ready if I let her cruise
Thank you!
Thanks you so much for educating me 🙏
No worries at all!
Great information Emma.
Always find your videos informative without judgement
Thank you so much! That is fantastic to hear. I think the last thing new parents need is to feel judged. Parenting is hard enough.
Thank you so much Emma!!
You're so welcome!
My 7 month old is pulling to stand on her own and actually shocked me when i saw her standing out of no where! This came out just in time
Does your baby now try to stand up before falling asleep or if woke up?
@@yanabanana5086 sometimes. When she wakes up either way shes trying to climb shes 8 months now
Hi Emma, I need some advised from you.
What do you think of the torso walking harness would that help ??
Hi Emma, my baby is 15 months old but not walking independently, what would you suggest me
Thanks so much. Your videos are always really helpful
You're very welcome!

Thank you for everything you teach us

I love you mam.... Can't say in word how helpful u r to me and for my baby's growth and development.. Love from India...
Hi Emma, thank you for the video. What tips would you recommend to facilitate walking for a baby already cruising along walls and furniture if you do not have a walker?
My daughter pushes a washing basket/hamper around, sometimes boxes from parcels we’ve had delivered she has a plastic walker but she doesn’t love it
Hi Samantha kids will push around absolutely anything if it can support their weight and is at the right height. My daughter would push her highchair around. I have seen kids push cardboard boxes, washing basket and, toy boxes. Hope that helps!
@@EmmaHubbard Thank you.
I literally can’t make this up I watched this video went over to my 15 month old niece and she started walking after 5 mins of encouraging her My sister can’t stop crying now because she was worried that she wasn’t walking “best uncle ever”🤣
Awesome work!
I noticed lots of the habits that babies had were also true of me when I was learning how to skate as an adult
How long migration from independence stand to learn use a baby push walker? Thanks for advice
Add this to the things I wish I would have known a few months ago! Very informative video. Wish I hadn’t been cruising around with my toddler like this for the past 2 months 🥲
I hope your back isn't too sore! It's never too late to change though if your little one still needs your help to cruise around.
Thanks so much for sharing - sounds like your little one is going so well! 😁You're doing a fantastic job supporting your little one!
Emma, I love your videos! Thank you for all these developmental lessons. I had a quick question: Would the activity walkers be beneficial too? The walkers that you put them into vs the ones they hold on to.
Thank you for tips! They are really helpful. ❤️
Thanks Emma this video helps me a lot
You're so welcome!
Love it! Sounds like she’s doing great 💜
@@EmmaHubbard all thanks to wonderful people like you who provide caring, thoughtful, and informative videos like these to us parents who need some guidance and advice -- you can drown in the sea of misinformation out there - especially about sleep and sleep training, my goodness it's a billion-dollar industry and there are so many people out there trying to make money, the comfort and development of babies are the last things on their minds.
Is he walking now
Hello is he walking now I’m having same issue with my baby as wel she was born premie 3lbs 11 ounce and is 16months not walking
Thank you 💓 useful video
Can we use harness to help baby walk when they are trying their first steps, instead of holding their back?
Emma, love your videos & resources! I thought that walkers weren’t encouraged because it shifts their center of gravity forward and they then aren’t learning balance. Has that thinking changed?
not sure if we should be concerned-my 19 month old grandson onky “walks” on his knees. we have seen him walk on his feel once or twice so know he is able but he may be afraid of falling? he hops in his knees or uses a walking motion on his knees only
Dear Emma please advise on baby walking reins? Good or no,
Hi Vittie I generally do not recommend using them.
Same as my baby he is doing the same with the same age
Yep your right, oOnce your little one learns how to stand up on his own, he will start to lift one foot to take his first step. Still plenty of time to learn how to walk. Enjoy watching him cruise and play in standing - it's such a lovely time😁
@@EmmaHubbard thanks! Oh I forgot to mention he’s a super fast crawler too. So I think that’s why he’s not interested yet. And climbs on everything 😂
Would love to hear how you got on as my little boy is exactly the same right now! :)
@@annoniification he started walking at 16 months. He just did it on his own. Still totally normal. I just had to go at his pace. He did find interest in using the push walker before he learned to walk. They say crawling is so good for them so at least he got a lot of that in.
Hi
I have a question.
I have purchased a baby play yard.
So it's like a big fence
I have placed a hard matress which is not squishy within the playyard.
It’s so nice to hear you have found this channel helpful💕
Unfortunately, I can’t say when your little one will start walking.
We know he's capable because as long as somebody is somewhat within reach he will try to reach them
Thank you so much.
It's my pleasure!
Great video! Thanks for the infos!
Can you please share some ideas for one year old baby sleeping at night. My baby wake up 4 time at night what should I do?
Ma'am in one myth video I saw where you do not recommend a walker, however in this video you are suggesting for a push walker. So should we buy a push walker or not just wanted to clarify
Hi! I’m referring to 2 different things in those videos. I recommend the push walker (the ones they stand behind and push), those are great. But I do not recommend the walkers that babies stand inside.
this is so interesting and helpful!! thank you so much!
So glad it was helpful!

Thanks you so much

My 10 month old has been cruising for at least a month but when he tries on a walker he just pushes it forwards and falls over as he doesn’t move with it. Is there anything I can do to help this?
My daughters turning 2 soon and trying to get her walking but she don't want to she likes crawling.. she will walk around the walls or toys tables or the bed.. or holding our fingers or her push walker but don't want to independently.. what do i do..
Hi dear my son is 1.6months old but not yet walking weight is 10.4 kg
Hi first time watching ur video
Hi Leticia holding one hand and keeping it down low would be ok. Sounds like he is getting close to walking independently!
