I was born in the 2000s. I have no business with this bike but somehow this thing just pulls my attention to it. I just love the way it looks, the power and the sportstourer vibe. One day I'll own one!

I was also born in the 2000's, I am fortunate enough to have have a Dad who owns one. It's gorgeous looks wise and music to the ears, one day he might consider letting me have a go, but probably not till he's too old to ride it 😂

The 1993 ZX11D was the first brand new motorcycle I ever bought. I had spent 5 years on a Hurricane 600 and a CBR 600F2 and this bike was in a class all by itself. I loved everything about it.

That was my father spaceship as a kid. I remember waking up in the morning to the sound of this monster when it would be fired up earling in the weekends. I remember sitting on it and pretending to drive it in the garage when my father was gone to work. I also remember driving it in my dreams and overtaking cars like my father did when he would take me for a ride. I knew exacly when he would overtake, I still remember the engine shaking between my legs after 7k rpm. I still remember the speedometer reaching 320(!!!) and half of it being already 140kmh :D Only seeing this vid now that I am 36 yo makes me realise what it really was back then. It was a monster to everyone!

+tavi921 If the 83' through 84' GPz/ZX1100A1's and A2's had been fixed with 18" front AND rears, and been given carb's (rather than twitchy EFI fuel-injection) they would've been absolutely perfect AND beautiful. Don't get me wrong, I love my 90' ZX1100C1 but there are times I still wish I had my old 83' GPz-1100. She even had a fuel-gauge !

I have a 95 D3, full Yoshimura exhaust, intake mod, K&N air filter, carbs professionally matched, ignition advance. Stock gearing. She pulls all the way to red in every gear! Reads a little past the 200mph, but I know is not accurate! But still fun as all get out!!! My fuel injected bikes loose their gutting after 160mph, but my zx11 goes to red in top gear very easily!

had my d4 for 6 years now, full power version, just a pleasure to ride. Spent about £200 on powered coating, new suspension bearings, usual things like tyres (dont expect more than 3000 miles out of a rear tyre!, brakes (upgrade to nissin callipers a must, standard tokicos are rubbish!) stainless headers are a must, have a K&N filter on mine, no rejecting, just pulls, and pulls and pulls...the howl of ram air coming on song and the world goes into berserk mode! Mine has seen 160+ at Cadwell (live close) so 20 years old and still goes like stink...get one, you wont be disappointed.

What an awesome machine! I've been privileged to own a pristine '99 D7 since 2012 and I've enjoyed every single one of the 15000 miles I've covered aboard her. A pussycat in town, 55-60mpg, great roll-on performance and the handling is sweet for a bike of this size and weight. She also loves super unleaded fuel and Michelin Pilot Road 2 tyres.
Keeping her well maintained isn't cheap and even a competent DIYer will find it expensive. Oil changes should not be skimped on nor should the frequency of changing both it and the filter, and also keep it topped up above ¾ full. Long live the ZZR1100
Another great review by Paul; someone I could listen to all day. Nicely done!

  • @anonimous2451

Yea, i did not know til after I bought mine. Picked up a very low mileage 2000 with 7500 miles on it and still looks damn good too. I took it out and ran it up to 160 MPH just for the thrill, but due to a slight vibration around 100 i was cautious, it disappears around 110 so I took it up a bit. I wanna find what that vibration is cause I REALLY wanna do a top end run. The 1st owner said he hit 190 with it but he is an older guy and had a knee replacement so he couldn't handle the weight anymore. My Lucky day, I will not give the price I paid but I got a GREAT Deal and I could sell it today for 6 grand easy. I DON'T want to sell it. I enjoy riding with my hair on fire with it. It can hang with all of today's superbikes except maybe the Blackbird and H2R.

I have owned, in order, a GSXR 1100, a ZZR1100, a 2nd Generation Hayabusa, and a Honda Blackbird. I am 6.ft % inches Tall, and weigh over 16 stone, and the ZZR was certainly the most comfortable bike of the bunch, with more than enough performance for Real World riding? The Hayabusa was a weapon, but just to uncomfortable for my now 60 year old body, as was the Blackbird which I sold approx 12 months ago. I now own a BMW K1200 LT, which, while not nearly as powerful as any of the above machines, is still fast enough for pretty well every circumstance, and is the most comfortable motorcycle I have ever owned.

Pantsu God mine would wipe the floor with any 2000+ 600 cc. I recently beat a GSXR 1000 2014 model on a straight. I’ve gone down 1 tooth on the front sprocket which really improves acceleration i have light weight after market exhausts race air filter and a light weight battery. I’ve had nothing keep up with it in 5 years. It accelerates like a busa up to 140 mph and the reason is it’s much lighter and makes around 145hp and the original busa makes 156 hp. Not much difference😉 last summer I had a race with a black generation 1 busa and it couldn’t leave me. It was only at speeds over 140 it started pulling away but not by much.

  • @JAAUG
    @JAAUG 8 років тому +12

Still have my D1, 1109 bigbore kit cams and head work and a full system and your all over the back end of a stock Busa. Top end is not that much slower than my 2008 ZX-14, Maybe a 10km difference, not to shabby for a 23 year old bike.

1:30 '...over 200 miles, that's if you drive it, well fairly sensibly.' not mine, and probably not any. Mine gets it's best economy at around 120km/h, nearer 250km a tank. I think this is likely due to the cam profiles and a 'happy tune' the bike was designed to live with.
    I have 12 bikes and the only four I'll never sell are the 1997 ZZR1100D5, 1988 ZL1000, 2003 CBR954RR and the 2005 Ducati 999S.

Problems commonly found is the gearbox..... be careful not jumping out of 2nd gear.Also.... problems with the cylinder 3-4 oil lubrication. It is good that the oil level to be controlled and always to be at max. level. If it is ok with that ,then you'll buy a legend. This is the real Kawasaki flagship no doubt !

+ÐanMusic ♫♪ I think you'll find the gearbox issues were confined to the 'C' series; the 'D' series box has a reputation for being reliable and smooth changing (my experience is the D only). I had a zzr1100c from 1992 for 6 years and a blackbird from 2000 with analoge cockpit. The zzr is a beast and more comfortable and the sound from the stock exhaust is great but in cold weather the carbs freeze and then it holds back in power. the blackbird is one of the most reliable motorcycles on the planet and more sporty in the corners, riding position is more sporty then comfy and the exhaust is very subtile but recognisable.

There are so many errors in the first 2 minutes that it diminishes the rest of the review. The tank is 24 liters not 21 and the power is 147 bhp until 97 when it was increased to 150. The restricted version was never purchased in any numbers and a simple carb to swap was all that was needed to unleash the full potential.

Wow do these really get over 50 to the gallon ridden sensibly? That beats the blackbird by miles, I can barely get 44 on my bird. I have a garage and have a ZZR1100 customer, balanced the carbs recently. I think Honda must have bought a ZZR and copied it when designing the CBR1100xx they're very similar.

7 years on since acquisition I still own my D7 and yes, they return 55 to 61mpg (88.5 to 98km/L). Although I've not ridden one, the 'bird is an awesome bike that has my utmost respect and has one of the finest motorcycle engines ever made, ever! DId Honda copy the ZZ-R? You've certainly got to wonder!

The guy who presented the video is not a through and through biker. YOU DON'T DRIVE A BIKE YOU RIDE ONE! Also full power ZZR 1100 is 147 BHP not 123 as he states. Honda's Blackbird needed a bigger displacement to oust the King off top spot. And only marginally! Roll on test the ZZR was faster.
