It looks so good!! Not only did you reflect your personality you did it while working with what you have and even didn't like to make it look beautiful!
Looks so great! For new kitchen renovation tips: go with all drawers. So much easier to see and access everything. We went with ikea cabinet frames and custom fronts and loved them. Make sure you have the measurements of all your appliances that you have or plan to get before designing a cabinet layout - definitely a case where you want to measure multiple times before execution!
Tina, you asked for tips doing a renovation. I can not emphasize enough the importance of drawing out your whole floor plan on graph paper showing all the door swings, walking paths etc... it will help you visualize what the space will look like and hopefully allow you to see any bottlenecks before you are dealing with physical pieces. Also break down the job backwards if you have a specific timeframe, starting with your ending date you put in the finishing touches and work backwards. You can break everything down into little tiny steps so that if you finish something scheduled for a day you can look ahead and knock an additional step off your list. Basically you can schedule the whole process out so that you don't miss something or overrun your timeframe.
Hey Tina! I've been enjoying watching all your room transformations. Your positive attitude and the way you encourage others to try something they've never done before are delightful qualities of yours. You asked for kitchen reno tips. Just to give you a brief backstory, I've been through two gut kitchen renovations in my day (three, if you count the one my parents did when I was a teenager). Plus I used to be a kitchen designer at Home Depot. Hopefully these tips will be useful for you. Before the reno ever begins you need to be fully aware that kitchen renovations are TOUGH. They can put a lot of strain on everyone in the house so above all else, make sure you and your husband are fully aware of this. Enter into this project committed to each other and to being patient with each other. If you see the stress starting to overwhelm either of you, take a break. Put down the hammer and go out for dinner. Or go for a walk. Or go play mini golf. Whatever brings you joy and reconnects you to each other so you remember that your'e a team and that it's just cabinets and paint. It's not life or death (although there are moments when it might feel that way 🤣🤪.). I'm not trying to be alarmist here, but the stress is real and it can swallow you up. Don't let it catch you off guard. OK, now that the psychology part is out of the way, here are some practical tips: I'm not sure how much of this you're planning to tackle yourself vs hiring out but you can save a lot of money if you serve as your own General Manager and take on the task of organizing and scheduling all the sub contractors yourself, like plumbers, electricians, drywall installers, kitchen designers and/or installers, etc. It's a lot of work to serve as a GM, but probably worth it. Whatever pros you decide to work with, when you have a conversation with them about when they need to wire the new outlets and lights for the kitchen or what brand of faucet they recommend or at what point the drywall should be installed and how long it will take before the cabinets can go in after that, etc...write down what they say. You WILL forget it, so write it down. Create an Evernote notebook (or whatever digital tool you prefer) or go old school and use a real notebook. Just have a place to keep track of all the info and paperwork that will pile up throughout the process. I highly recommend working with a kitchen designer. In our most recent reno, I chose to work with one even though I had a background in kitchen design and came to the table with a host of my own ides. She was incredibly helpful and came up with additional ides that I had not thought of. It's a huge investment and you don't want to realize that one of the cabinets doesn't fit (because you mis-measured) when you're right in the middle of installing everything. Another thing that was super helpful during our last kitchen reno was having a temporary kitchen set up so we could still do a lot of cooking at home. Plus we chose to do our reno in the summer when we knew we could use our grill easier. Once those cabinets are gone, you're suddenly faced with the fact that everything is so much harder when you don't have a functioning sink in your kitchen. The longer you can keep your sink in place, even when everything else is gone, the easier it will be. Consider donating your old cabinets and/or appliances to charity. We donated our old kitchen cabinets to Habitat for Humanity. They came and picked them up and it was a great feeling knowing that they were going to be repurposed. And my final piece of advice is when you make your budget for this project, add 30% on top. Things crop up, idea's change, pandemics happen, and prices increase. Don't get caught off guard. OK, this was super long, but I hope it's helpful to you. Redesigning your kitchen can be a fun and rewarding project if you take the time to plan ahead and save up enough to make your dreams come to fruition. Best of luck to you!! I'm sure it will be beautiful.
This definitely is one of my favourite makeovers you’ve done. No wonder your channel is flying. You’re so lovely and have a great eye for style and working with what you have. Stunning colours. It looks very stylish but welcoming. Nice one, Tina. xxx
Tina, this is an excellent video. So many new homeowners have to work with what they have on a budget! Thrifting, DIY projects, and and bargain and value shopping for beautiful, functional items is the practical thing to do. I think the important thing to remember is to not take on any major renovation beyond one's skill level, such as a project that needs a professional plumber or electrician! However, skills can be learned, practiced and are built upon others, so we all can gain more over time! Thanks for encouraging and inspiring us all! 💝 e
Open area over the fridge is perfect for cookbooks..up high storage for things you don't need to get to frequently...and you can lay them on their side so easier to read...
huge fan of how you always use what you have to refresh your space! it's so nice to see how a small change like hardware and paint can transform a room!
This is AMAZING!!! you should put little puck lights (like cheap ones from amazon) inside the open cabinets! would be so cool to highlight all of your cute decor pieces inside :)
Gah the kitchen looks so warm and welcoming compared to how it was 😩💜 I absolutely adore the sage colour, I’d love green cabinets in my kitchen too 😍 And the styling was immaculate as always! So excited to see more transformations 😍🤩
Thank you, Elina!!! It was so much fun playing around with the colors and it turned out better than I had imagined! I hope you find your perfect home soon and get to make it over too! 😍😍
Amazing Job Tina! I have Conifer green cabinets in my bathroom. Makes such a difference with just a new coat of fresh paint. Love how the muted sage looks. Two tone works so well in your kitchen.
Thank you so much, Shari! I love that this kitchen really challenged me to try something I probably wouldn’t have dared to try two tone before! 🙈 And I really want to use Conifer Green somewhere, it’s so beautiful! I bet it looks gorg in your bathroom 😍
OMG! This kitchen is literally so perfect! And to do it for less than $300?!?! 👌🏼👌🏼🙌🏼♥️ I’ve been loving the same green tones lately and this is so amazing! This video was the highlight of my day today 😊🙏🏼
It turned out beautiful this is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I’m already obsessed I think a white and gold set of knives in a light wood knife holder would be beautiful on the counter with your cutting boards for food prep
Love the sage but I chose conifer because it was stunning with the gold hardware. You did an amazing job! I love how carefully you pay attention to detail. 🌱💚

it looks so good after your freshened it! for a full kitchen reno, if the wall in the middle isnt a supporting wall, you should defs look into removing it and make it into an island so that it opens up your space!
I just overhauled my parents house and used similar shades of green throughout! She absolutely loves it and always comments about the paint colors, how they invoke just such a calming, grounded feeling as soon as you step into the room. Tina, your design style is so on point for the inspiration I am looking for. I would hire you to do my entire house when I become a homeowner. I look forward to your videos every week, and am even going to pick up a loom and try my hands at weaving. Thank you for creating! Cheers from Milwaukee 🍻🙃

What a transformation. Love the sage green for the bottom cabinets. The whole time you were deciding which of the greens, I was screaming "Sage Green". It looks great. You certainly brought that drab outdated dull kitchen to such a cozy, modern, bright and airy, beautiful room. I'm actually in the beginning stages of working through ideas to freshen up my kitchen that doesn't break the bank. You sure did give me the inspiration I needed, showed me some great ideas, and gave me the hope I needed to know it can be done. Thank you!!
@@tinalemac my husband asked me to repaint it and that was a nope. The color is just beautiful. I'm loving the color combo you did in the kitchen. Looks so great. I am going to stencil my white tiles in my kitchen. It's been time for a redo.
Stunning Tina!! 😍 Thanks for the hinge idea! My apartment has those and they look awful. So I'm going to paint all the hardware black. Looking forward to hearing what's the best matte spray paint for high use handles.
I did the tiles in my kitchen soldier brick as well. They're 12 inch subway tiles and look so good. Love the muted sage colour, it definitely transforms the kitchen.

You did an amazing job with your kitchen. I went through a kitchen reno at my mother's house. We used a local design company and Brookhaven semi-cusom cabinets. The house I live in now had an updated, but not renovated kitchen. If we were to renovate it, I would go with IKEA cabinets. Why? You buy the boxes separately and they get hung on a rail. BTW, I would not go with the two deep drawers for pots and pans, as we have now because they don't take advantage of all the space available. I'd rather have two doors and three shelves. My husband buys a pot and pan for everything, so we have more than I would like. Have some glass doors on top. It gives you the appearance of open space without ever having a nastry surprise such as dust and dead bugs! Also, build a broom closet (most homes don't have one) and a pantry. It doesn't have to be a walk-in pantry.
