For reference: Final Sigma is weak to the Orbital Laser/light shield, first-form Lumine does inherit the weaknesses of the boss forms, and final form Lumine is weak to Gravity Squeeze, but just has a ton of health so Jared not recognizing a single shot taking off a single health pip is significant. He really should have been using the charge shot versions of his attacks more often. Laser beam buster is still OPAF though.
"You're nothing but a product of the old world!" Lumine says to a robot build more than 150 years in the past which is somehow still more advanced than every other reploid and will continue to be so for the following century.
For the PS2 game, Easy you'd fight Sigma, Normal you'd fight the first phase of Lumine and on Hard you'd fight all phases of Lumine. As difficulty increases the number of ending cutscenes increases, you have to beat it on Hard for the full ending. Another interesting thing about the PS2 game is that Upgrades unrelated to the Bosses are hidden in the levels and the number of them that are hidden/you start off with, is tied to the difficulty you chose. These upgrades also carry over to New Game+ which allows you to ease in to the higher difficulties if you'd like or you can jump straight in to the harder difficulties without playing an easier difficulty and have more secrets to find in each level. Difficulty also affects enemy damage output, number of boss phases for all bosses and I think all enemy attack behaviours (not just a stat increase). Would be nice if games separated stat increases from all the other aspects of difficulty but alas, that's strangely not a common thing to find in games.
@@Mr8bit-s7h There's a glitch to quickly max out your Metal currency in the PS2 version. It was only really an issue (without abusing the glitch) if you were going for the Sigma Blade.
I love how X8 has a few biblical references with Noah’s Park, the Jakob Elevator, X’s Armors being Hermes and Icarus, Devil Sigma, and Lumine sounding similar to Lucifer and of course that gorgeous FF6 background when Lumine becomes a Fallen Angel.

@@KairuHakubi In order for America to be better run and represented by those who truly have our lives, civil rights, and interests in mind. When voters turn out, those who lie and stoke the culture war just to keep taking more bribes lose their power.
Given all of X's interactions throughout the game, I'm surprised when you fight Sigma his lines aren't "Sigma! Have you gone Maverick? Is Sigma controlling you?!"
Mega Man X8 is one of my favorites from the X series as it makes the player ask if the Maverick Hunters are really the good guys. X4 had you start questioning the actions and motivations of the the Hunters, because of the Maverick Hunters falsely labeling Repliforce as Mavericks and attacking them without any evidence to a crime, which caused Repliforce to decide to find their own way of life. X8 explains that the new generation reploids have a much higher concept of what free will is that they can do anything they want, like humans and therefore want to get out from under humans. The remake of X1 on PSP helps reinforce this as Sigma and Mavericks you fight have chosen to follow him. The whole X series as a whole has you question if those labeled as Mavericks went Maverick due to a virus that drove them insane or they decided on their own to rebel or forge their own path outside of what they were built for.
i agree with this mostly, but I think the virus interferes with their cognitive functions and make them alot more prone to violent reactions and follow the will or tendencies that sigma had. that is why i think lumine and the rest choosing the path was unavoidable. could be something that says this isnt so but i dont remember it if so
The issue with this interpretation is that we know for a fact X and Zero are the only reploids with 100% free will (before the events of Megaman Zero, anyway), and what Lumine describes the "new generation" reploids having is much more akin to a wide array of possible personalities than actual human-like freedom. Beyond that, the Megaman X manga (I'm not certain on the canonicity) delves deeper on the beginning of the maverick wars, and makes it clear that the virus does drive many of the reploids in X1 mad.
Jared constantly not going up to see the sparkles during the last Sigma/Lumine fight was just why not check. He eventually did but I noticed that the first moment he walked in. Still that was fun to watch.
Great playthrough. I've always wished Capcom or a group of fans would make a Megaman game in the style of Contra, where you could run through levels collecting all sorts of temporary buster variations and, most of all, be able to fire everything in multiple directions without having to select a special character like Bass.
@@LeoHwzrChannel Especially when he can't take the time to figure out or remember that the armors have their own giga moves to use for using the full set of one. Also wish he would have figured out that Cutman isn't the only secret boss

So I'm confused, in his Megaman X7 review at the end it shows sigma getting shot in his brain by Axle, so even though this is just a Demake, it still represents Megaman X8 properly so how the heck did Sigma become to look like that............I guess it was more of a clone bot with shallow ideals of the former sigma.
I know you've said you're not a fan of them but I'd love to see you play Tales Phantasia (SNES), Tales of Eternia (PSX), Tales of Symphonia (Steam) or Tales of the Abyss (PS2). Eternia or Abyss in particular would be stellar and I think you would would actually like them a lot if you gave them another chance. Dragon Quest XI was also really good, but I know you already tried it and didn't care much for it. And of course, still would love to watch you play Thief 1!
Why doesn't X just use one arm of each version? Half infinite normal and half infinite charged shots while having half of a triple charged laser sounds good to me.^^
The whole part allows infinite normal/charged, trying to put on both at the same time doesn't work because X only has two arms and half of each would be like trying to use a gas nozzle on a tire pump
It isn't that much harder dude, I sucked at this game playing normally and after all upgrades, the optional bosses were hard but even I could beat them. (There's also a mod that includes Axl, and Zero secretly, but yeah)
Sorry, never actually played a Mega Man game except for 8…And I never got past Frost Man. Is the Death Knight with the huge green sword still Sigma?! Is that his true form or something?
