  • Visited the Allied Boats factory in Bremerton, Washington to check on the progress of our 2nd welded, aluminum Wildcat. We are really loving the upgrades we made to the cuddy berths and cabin seating. Compared to the 1st Wildcat, we shaved about 12” off the cuddy and went from a queen bed to 2 single sponson berths. This will actually give 2 people more sleeping room (though not together) while affording us even more fishing room at the bow. Secondly, we converted the two side-facing bench seats and first mate seat in the cabin to 5 bucket seats on suspension bases. These seats will allow guests to sit facing forward on the ride out, then swivel aft to help watch the troll gear while fishing. When just sitting around enjoying being on the water, those 5 seats can also swivel inward, in case folks want to look at each other while chatting 😂😂😂. Oh, and full suspension seating, even in a cat, is going to be pretty awesome. The captain’s chair will have full suspension with a dropdown bottom seat, allowing for easy maneuvering through the captain’s side door. This is the first catamaran I know of with this amount of flexibility in seating options.

    Captian, just watched all your videos. WOW 😮 what a Impressive vessel. Was wondering if #2 is finished. Also how often do you tow your boat, is the permits a pain to deal with 👍

      We should be doing the sea trail next week :). The new Suzuki DF350s got installed last week.
      The first one towed easily with my Chevy 3500 dually Dmax. My buddy (who owns her now) tows her just fine with his Dodge 3500 diesel single wheel. We tow a few times a year. It’s about 90 miles from home to the coast. Permits in Washington are $20 a month or $220 a year (last I checked).
      Alfred Montaner made a video of his visit to the 2023 Seattle Boat Show. He covered some of the boat.

      @@wdlfbio Sweet , hopefully you will have your camera. I watch Alfred’s videos also. Maybe tell your viewers the towing weight on Her madden trip and voyage! My 17’ trophy center console might be a good dinghy. How for are you from Kent wa. by Seatec ?

      @@aloissuter1071 Great idea. I’ll figure the weight and share that. We’re in Olympia, but the boat will be in Westport June - Oct.

      @@wdlfbio Can’t wait to see the video. Our son lives in Kent. They just moved from downtown. We Charted for pink salmon a year and half ago in Puget sound. Captian had a new 28’ North River. Our first trip in a Aluminum Pilot house. It was great 👍

      @@aloissuter1071 haven’t had time for the full walkthrough video yet, but we have put her on some scales. Deducting weight for fuel and some equipment, she’s close to 10,400#, dry. The builder had to move the axles on the LoadRite trailer aft about 11” to get her to tow smoothly. She trailers straight as an arrow up to nearly 70 mph (I didn’t realize I was going that fast at the time).

    What machine you use for welding? Tig or mig?

      I’m not the builder, just the client. I’m pretty sure they use both though.

    Beautiful looking rig man. How come you went away from ACI and to Allied?

    • @wdlfbio
      @wdlfbio  Рік тому

      Both companies make awesome rigs. Neither is cheap. All new rigs have a bug or two to work out, it’s just part of so much customization. The customer service I’ve heard about and experienced first hand from Allied is top notch.

      @@wdlfbio that’s good to hear. Both are on my short list for an offshore aluminum cat and I was just curious if there was something specific that had you switch manufacturers.

    What are the#’s with the new Zuke 350s?

    • @wdlfbio
      @wdlfbio  Рік тому

      Wot is 6,300 rpm. Fully fueled (250 gallons) and 6 adults, we hit 48.4 mph burning 0.84 mpg. Cruise is more like 28-34 mph, 4,400 - 4,800 rpm, getting 1.2 a 1.3 mpg. Low 20s will yield 1.35 or so.

      Those #’s are great. Good speed and fuel efficiency and because of the cat ride you actually get to cruise at those speeds a hell of a lot more!
