      You will hear Derek inhaling as the bell swings backwards at the bottom then exhaling - he makes a little "pssst" sound - as he explodes it back up.

    Is the KB not too far away from you? I was taught that one should imagine a wall in front of them when doing the snatch.

      There are multiple ways to perform the KB snatch. The way you’re doing it isn’t wrong so long as it feels comfortable for you. If you’re interested in learning a couple different ways, I believe Geoff Neupert has a video series where he breaks down 3 or 4 different ways of doing the KB snatch.
