The timing of this video is incredible. Just recently had a talk with my DM about something along the lines of "inability to find fun/interest in dm-ing".
I have recently found myself having more fun as a DM & its enthused me to put more effort into our games. The catalyst for this was playing Mork Borg. The rules-light aspect has meant that I dont have to worry about complicated mechanics & spell wordings & nuances of action economy during the game & I am free to think about the game-world; npcs, environment descriptions, & PCs focus. Now when I prep for a session its a fun activity, when before it was a chore. This has me excitedly exploring other RPGs like DCC, LotFP, Mothership, Cairn & anything else that takes the weight of rules-heavy fluency away.
at some point in one of our campaigns our dm was excited with how i performed he kept giving me inspiration. i was up to 8 in that session alone, the next session i was trying to get my other players to gain inspiration instead of me so i was silent and trying to give them the front screen. they have a bit of a problem getting into their characters. im going to be running my own campaign for the first time in 3 months, and im excited because it seems each put a bit of themselves into their characters and i have them starting in a church dedicated to Bahamut, with the priest being a Red Dragon Born, while one of the players is a bronze dragon born bard.
After 15 years of being a forever DM trying to get to be a player and never a DM again well that didn't work out so at least I get paid for my time while trying to find a group that doesn't fucking implode or fall apart so I can actually play
@@GabeDunstonDraws It's okay I mean it's not a lot of money but it's a bit of extra cash in the pocket and let's me try a bunch of books I would never otherwise use
@@michaelkeha I am FASCINATED! May we speak more on this subject in email ora phone call or some such? I'm looking to hear from as many pro DMs as I can. I just want to know more.

Glad I could be so timely. 🙂
