It's very rare that a brand can get something right and stick with it. I'm buying a 2019 CX-5 in the UK and it just feels so much better put together and premium and all the other makes I've looked at.

Got my wife’s signature cx5 in rhodium white. All i can say is WOW. The interior materials are outstanding. There is only 4 of us in the house hold and this is perfect everyday drive. Exterior lights are designed well. Engine power is more than enough. This is our first mazda and definitely will not be the last. Wife had the 2014 tiguan and she loved the power but this cx5 is better in performance IMHO. All LED lights, perfectly made and designed leather seat, awesome Bose sound system.
Cons: No panoramic sunroof (love it on my Highlander), No wireless car play, ride is on stiff side ( maybe because of tire pressure and will check accordingly). Thanks for the review. Helped us narrowed down our choices👍

I own a 2022 Mazda CX-5 and its a really nice looking car which has its own problems and they annoy you sometimes.
And, interestingly no reviewer highlights them. For example:
    1. Doors doesn't close with enough push, they need to be slammed
    2. Acceleration is bit jerky may be because its not CVT, so you miss that smooth shift of gears
    3. Center arm rest is way too behind that smaller drivers can't rest their hands adequately and also using cup holders uncomfortable while driving because of their positioning. Mazda should re-organize the ergonomics like what they did in CX-50, its much better
    4. City mileage is not that really great, at best you get 20/21
    5. Rear leg space and cargo space could have been little better comparing to competition, not sure why Mazda is not coming up with new body design and its been so long
    6. Menu wheel is ok and it takes time to get used to it, but I am fine with it
    7. Lane center/Lane follow is too basic, competition is offering wonderful lane centering and lane follow assist and its very useful especially for long drives
    8. Driver seat comfort is ok but not deep enough to have good thigh support
    9. You can literally feel the bad roads so suspension is bit stiff
Apart from these annoyances, the things I like most is: overall ride quality, audio system, adaptive lighting system, safety features, quality of interiors, highway mileage, mazda link and service, excellent insulation for quite ride and great value for money.

Love my soul red 2019 CX-5 signature. Bought out my lease this year. There were not enough changes to make change. Same with 2023. I'll give it a few years. They need to move those rear usb and heat controls. If the middle rear seat is taken you cannot get to it. I felt the 2022 info screen looked too big but that is just a getting used to issue. The piano black over the wheel wells on some models is not to my liking. Car handles great. Gas mileage could be better.

After driving it a month now, overall I am extremely happy. However, if I had to be picky, I would make the following suggestions to enhance the sport appeal: a) the sunroof to be a bit larger b) the steering wheel a touch thicker, and c) more color choices for the Signature interior. Maybe down the road, Mazda.

I just leased one. But I don’t really use the sunroof as far as sliding it open, I do tilt a lot while I’m inside a store to keep air circulation. I wish there was reflectors for when the doors are open for oncoming traffic to see. I wish the sunroof control was backlit so I can see it at night. And I wish the brakes were grippier like my Volkswagens. And I wish Mazda would add backlight to the stalks on each side of the steering wheel so I can see where the wiper stalk is set and where the lighting stalk is set as I adjust them often. Mazda should add hood struts as well. I’d like Mazda to offer black out on the shiny bits like the logos and grill and Mazda to emblems and strip on the lower window trim.

Still an attractive CUV. Despite new entrants, the interior also remains tops(although surprisingly top models of the Mitsu Outlander are pretty good too). It also seems that Mazda worked really hard to improve NVH on the CX5. 55dB is pretty good for something in this class.
The space has been an albatross for the CX-5 since it was introduced. But I believe Mazda loves being a niche brand and their customers love it as well. $40K is about where loaded RAV4s, Nissan Rogues, and Honda CRVs are, so they're right in the thick of it.
For me personally, I saw my first CX50 and I gotta be honest: It looks more substantial than the CX5. Would be nice to see a Signature trim of that model.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus Рік тому +2

I drove the CX-50 last week and it’s not as substantial in my opinion once you start feeling around: it’s not as plush and not as quiet. And on lower trims even the top of the doors are hard plastic instead of soft plastic. I was not overly pleased.

The CX-5 is nice really nice especially for this class of vehicle. When you look at materials quality and exterior features I would say this is a worthy component to a mid trim XT5 of Xt4 and the buick envision. But yes as said countless times before space space and space is where this really lacks. It’s on an older platform I think and yes it is smaller than majority if not all the competition. And with new CX-50 it’s really making this obsolete especially since they compete in the same class and families are wanting something a little big larger. However. People who don’t need all the room and knowing Mazda with good handling this is pretty nimble since it is smaller than the CX-50. But no one is buying these to handle like sports cars. Though Mazda is really good with that. But hopefully rectify that one complaint in the next generation because the CX-50 definitely has this beat in space and feature content. Overall amazing review as always.

I lease one of these. And while I agree with everything you said, as a single guy, I don’t need all of the extra space and you mentioned Mazda making it larger on the next generation. That’s where I want to say no, keep this vehicle short and not longer like a VE Tiguan. I like the more nimble handling that toy mentioned. That is just me though and this is created more for families. I would urge people to get the CX-9 which is the next step up for those who don’t know. That’s why there is sub-compact, compact, and full size. I do realize the CR-V is larger and if people need lots more space in this segment then get that. I had the Tiguan and it was too damn long. I just don’t want this to get too large. When the Tiguan grew by 11” the whole world seemed to say it was too bloated and under powered.
But I like the CX-5. This is my 6th Mazda, 3rd brand new one and 2nd CX-5. I just paid off my 2018 Mazda 3.

Now I find I'm back looking for a new vehicle and STILL!!! sport seating vs bucket seats which are so much nicer, comfortable and easier to sit in, especially long distances. So despite everything else nice on this SUV, I'm likely not buying it because of that reason. Bucket seats should be a standard.
