Addressing a P0758 code by Testing and Replacing the Shift Solenoids on a Jeep Cherokee

- In this video I show how to test and replace the shift solenoids on my 1998 Jeep Cherokee as well as how to set the TV linkage. This was prompted by the Jeep not shifting automatically and displaying a P0758 code on my scanner.
Showing how to remove and replace the solenoid itself would have been a good addition to the video
incredibly useful video ive been having this same issue and this will certainly help fixing my jeep 👍🏻
Did changing the solenoids solve your issue?😊
thank you! Gonna try this when parts come in
Did you happen to check the continuity on the new solinoids b4 you installed them?
Will this also help with weak reverse issue?
To adjust the kick down you have to stay outside the Jeep and keep your thumb on the button while you pull the throttle with your other hand it will not pull back out if you're not holding the button down.
What's up, friend! Excuse me, hey, what solenoid did you change & what gear did it belong to?
Im thinking that's my problem to great information
My Jeep has just started holding in first gear and reluctant to shift into second. It only does it when it’s cold and as soon as it’s warmed up, it’s fine. I think it may be time to replace those solenoids before it gets worse.
Did you ever figure out what the problem was I have a 92 and it has the exact same problems you describes
@@jddawson-ux2fy hi, yep, it was the shift solenoids. An easy fix :)
@officialWWM do you remember what codes you were catching? Also where did you purchase your replacements? Rock auto?
@@matthewnegrete6230 sorry, I don’t remember now. I just bought the replacements from eBay. I’m in Australia, so deliveries from Rock Auto take too long for me.
Exalant video my 93 zj wont shift i have to shift it manually
Do you have a link to the kit you ordered by chance?
I don't. It was pretty easy to find on eBay though. Just a simple search.
@@toolsandtrails303 I was able to find it on Amazon. Everything I needed including solenoids, filter, gasket and transmission fluid for $103 shipped to my door.
@@toolsandtrails303 what did you search?
your video was very helpful by the way
Thank you 😊
